  1. I think what he may be getting at is whether the time between his release and signing with another team counts toward the 50 games, or whether the suspension must be served while he is under contract with a team.
  2. Speaking of Raw, did he ever pay?
  3. Yogi, is that you? :D
  4. Apparently a Marmol implosion is what it takes to get a game thread past one page anymore.
  5. I don't think Florida would agree to that trade. Neither do I, but one can dream.
  6. No, it's definitely Coleman. Maine is just a short-term extra bullpen arm since Coleman doesn't need to be called up until Wednesday.
  7. Zambrano for Morrison. Sign me up.
  8. He was traded to the Phillies (after we played them). That's why they sent Dominic Brown down.
  9. I believe that's because of the way the schedule worked this year due to the combined first week of the year. If things work out the same next year, I'd probably recommend making the final one week long and having everyone play a full regular season. Yeah, I think it was just the result of how MLB changed the start of the season to the middle of the week. I just don't think anybody thought about it at the time. We may have the same issue at the end of the MLB season, since that is Wednesday this year where it always used to be Sunday. That would only affect the teams playing for the championship (i.e. not me).
  10. We noticed this a few weeks ago when Houston was the victim of the Cubs' first 3-game winning streak of the year.
  11. Hendry himself pretty much said this.
  12. Solution: Intentionally get a five-yard penalty and have the kickoff moved back.
  13. Yeah but you'll be the first team in league history to pick first in the second round the year after not making the playoffs. Actually I'll be doing that. He traded the pick to me as part of the Lincecum trade.
  14. Actually Soriano should get credit, not blame. He felt the need to call Zambrano out, but he did it privately in the clubhouse, unlike Z who does it publicly in the dugout or through the media.
  15. Considering how putrid Dunn has been this year that might be a good thing.
  16. No, but Hendry typically talks himself into a corner by enraging the meatheads to the point that no solution is acceptable other than the banishment of said player. GMs will lowball him because they know he HAS to make a move. Had all parties just shut up and kept the clubhouse business in the clubhouse, no one would be wise to any of this today. love the gif JR, one of my all time favorite Z momentsSeconded.
  17. Nationally, nope....not unless you have Sunday Ticket. NFL network has been doing live look-ins on the preseason games, so you might get to see a bit of it that way. I don't even think Sunday Ticket is available for preseason games. I don't recall it in the past.
  18. According to Hendry the disqualified list is the most extreme discipline possible short of outright release. It seems to me like Hendry just decided to impose the worst and let the appeals process take it from there. Even if Zambrano wins on appeal (and I suspect he will) certainly the Cubs would be able to at least impose some suspension without pay. After all, he did walk away without permission and certainly has some responsibility for that.
  19. Former Notre Dame defensive coordinator Corwin Brown is hospitalized with a self-inflicted gunshot after a 7-hour standoff following a domestic dispute.
  20. I'm not positive, but this might also be the game where he ejected the umpire.
  21. That seems like a safe guess now that he's supposedly retired.
  22. 31 behind first place, 30 ahead of last place. Classic mediocrity.
  23. Monday will never be all but forgotten by Cubs fans for this reason:http://images.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/_photos/2006-04-24-rick-monday.jpg
  24. That sounds about right. It's longer for pitchers than position players.
