  1. Or when he has TJS but doesn't need to miss any time.
  2. I don't really like the idea of 96 teams (I'm in the camp of thinking it would dilute the tournament), but my opposition to it isn't that strong. I'll still definitely watch the tournament and I'll still definitely participate in bracket contests.
  3. Kicker Jason Elam will sign a one-day contract and then retire as a Bronco. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5041992
  4. This reminds me of the joke that went around in the late 80s or early 90s: The NCAA was so mad at UNLV's cheating that they increased Cleveland State's probation.
  5. The NCAA has ordered IUPUI (or OoeyPooey) to vacate wins in all 14 sports it plays due to major violations. The violations involve erroneous eligibility certifications for 97 athletes for 2003--04 through 2006--07.
  6. I think that's fairly common with minor league contracts, to give the player an opportunity to catch on with another team. Other times the terms of the contract allow the team to send the player down, but either call him up or release him by a specified date.
  7. I've frequently seen releases worded that way. I don't think it necessarily means that Millar asked to be released.
  8. Boston College fires Al Skinner.
  9. It's Tracy. As mentioned in Transactions Millar was released today and Fuld and Hoffpauir both optioned to Iowa.
  10. They're building police records because they want to be attractive to the Bengals when they become free agents. :D
  11. affect I think he knew that.
  12. Hence the reason for the "other" option in case anybody can think of a better choice than the Cubs seem to be considering.
  13. another NC fan that just can't vote for Duke, have a friend like that. Ears beating Duke, I doubt it but hope the only div. I school I ever went to wins. Do taking two classes at WVU count as Alumni? I'm not an NC fan and I'm not against Duke. I'm a transplanted midwesterner, having grown up in Illinois and then Indiana. I'm for Butler as opposed to against Duke.
  14. Now that it seems to be down to 4 players for the final roster spot a new poll seems to be in order.
  15. I'm going with home court advantage and picking Butler.
  16. Who will win it all?
  17. It was announced a while back (I posted it in Baseball Discussions I believe) that Enberg is the new play-by-play TV announcer for the Padres. I don't know if that has anything to do with his retirement from the tournament.
  18. ESPN is reporting that he will be officially named coach tomorrow.
  19. Not one person will have correctly picked the champion. Everybody picked Kansas, Kansas State, or Kentucky.
  20. You'd think Elmore would know that, since he himself spent the first half of his pro career in Indiana with the Pacers.
  21. The person from Chicago who has been publicized for having a perfect bracket is no longer perfect. He picked Purdue to win it all.
  22. why would you wish that You remember when everyone blamed Roast? They didn't realize he holds grudges and would one day be old enough to own firearms. No, that was CT that everybody blamed.http://www.northsidebaseball.com/forum/images/avatars/gallery/UserPics/ct.jpg
  23. Bruce was talking about that on this afternoon's telecast too. He was a guest in the booth for a half inning.
  24. This happens everywhere. Didn't the Cardinals have one of their fielders run over by an automated rain tarp when warming up before a World Series game in the 80's. You're thinking of Vince Coleman.
  25. It has been for the past several years. I don't mind it as long as the Cubs game is in the afternoon. It makes for an enjoyable sports day, watching Opening Day in the afternoon and then the NCAA championship game in the evening. Marmol roughed up today. A 2-2 tie heading into the 9th turned into a 5-2 A's lead. Yea It will make the day more enjoyable and would help me get over the fact that my team may not be playing in it. However if they are I will be in indy and have to watch the game via phone updates. Btw I do remember now when I was seven, Mark Grace got a walkoff base hit the same day Kentucky lost to Arizona in the Championship game in OT. I remember that championship game, because I have a graduate degree from Kentucky and follow them. It was the year after Kentucky won the title under Pitino and the year before they won it under Tubby Smith. Miles Simon was Arizona's star, and I even remember the announcer's line when the game ended: "Simon says championship." EDIT: You're one year off in your thinking. It was 1996 that Grace got the game winning hit (off of Trevor Hoffman), but it was 1997 that Kentucky lost to Arizona (they beat Syracuse in the 1996 championship game); the Cubs started 0-14 that year. But your point that Opening Day and the NCAA championship have been on the same day for many years now is valid.
