Cubs get two on in the bottom of the 9th to bring up the tying run, but Chris Robinson hits into a game-ending double play. A's 5, Cubs 2. Tomorrow's game against the Fathers is also on WGN. Unfortunately most of the game will overlap with the NCAA regional finals. -
I agree with Truffle. As long as there's a chance Guzman can still be serviceable I think he's worth keeping. What I read indicated that the injury wasn't as bad as first feared (he's still out for all of this year). It's not like they need to exercise an expensive option to keep him.

It has been for the past several years. I don't mind it as long as the Cubs game is in the afternoon. It makes for an enjoyable sports day, watching Opening Day in the afternoon and then the NCAA championship game in the evening. Marmol roughed up today. A 2-2 tie heading into the 9th turned into a 5-2 A's lead.

Guzman underwent arthroscopic shoulder stabilization surgery performed by Dr. Andrews. He will miss the entire year.

I'm not real excited about my team. I traded two high draft picks for playerst o help in my playoff run last year, which was ill-fated largely because a couple of my pitchers (especially Washburn) suddenly remembered that they aren't that good and started pitching down to their talent levels. My worst trade in hindsight was trading Happ (with all his exemptions remaining) for Marquis, but at the time there was talk of Happ losing his spot in the rotation when Martinez joined the team. I may be paying the piper this year.

I have a similar situation. I have a placeholder for Jiovanni Mier on my roster. I need to replace him with the real Mier (who has been added to the database since the prospect draft) but I can't add him myself at the moment since the first waiver period hasn't passed yet.

Chuck is listed as up on Roadkill, but Tim mentioned in this thread that Chuck said he was done drafting.

West Virginia starting point guard Darryl Bryant will miss the rest of the tournament with a broken foot suffered in practice.

I texted Navin to tell him that he's up. He's at the Cubs game and will then be flying home, so he won't be on for several hours. He did mention, though, that he wants to draft Joe Nathan and then he's done, so perhaps Juan, Tim, or Brian can add him.

I think someone with commissioner powers needs to do it. I think Brian and Tim have those capabilities in addition to Juan.

I say it every year and it never changes. I will never understand it. I started this exact rant in this thread yesterday. I think that on Saturday they should go 2, 2, 2, and 2 games in the four time slots instead of 1, 2, 3, and 2. And on Sunday it could be 2, 3, and 3 instead of 1, 4, and 3.

I'll probably make both of my remaining picks. I have what is really less than a full keeper roster to start (one injured player and one all but retired player on my roster) and I traded my first and third round picks in my ill-fated attempt to stay in playoff position last year.
