    Week 2

CBS Sports doesn't know the difference between Carlos Silva and Carlos Marmol. The pop-up box you can click on for the latest news about Marmol referred to him as Silva twice.
  2. Apparently the Cubs signed him to a minor league contract, although neither cubs.com nor Baseball Reference shows such a transaction. He spent the last three years playing for Fresno (Giants' AAA team).

I think it's useful. I haven't had any trouble tracking my own starts, but it's easier to keep track of how many starts your opponent has left (especially, as you pointed out earlier, if a pitcher puts up a zero-point start which could easily be misinterpreted as no start if you don't keep close track)..

    Week 2

Cameron missed today and is listed as day-to-day with possible appendicitis, so I benched him for the rest of the week, moved Ross to OF, and put Johnson at U.
  5. Clemson has hired Wright State's Brad Brownell as their new head coach. Brownell previously coached UNC-Wilmington. There's a pattern developing here: Whenever Clemson needs a new head coach they hire a coach currently at a school in Dayton (Parnell was at University of Dayton when hired by Clemson).
  6. IT'S NICE TO BE IMPORTANT, BUT MORE IMPORTANT TO BE NICE.
  7. It was Opening Day for the offense, since it took the road trip off.
  8. Can't say I care for pessimistic NCCubFan. There are enough of us half-empty guys running around sir. Once you cross over to the wrong side of 50 (as I did this past December) and still haven't experienced a championship I think makes one a bit more pessimistic.

Just let Chuck count all 8 starts for last week, then penalize him by deducting a start this week. :D
  10. One more reminder. You have until midnight Pacific time tomorrow night to enter or make changes to your existing team.
  11. However much Hoffman will struggle otherwise, I think we all know he'd shut down the Cubs.
  12. They seem to keep recycling that title for the special that airs before the home opener every year.

I'm not debating that; I was just saying what my recollection was from last year (and it could be wrong anyway). I know the issue came up last year, and my recollection was that Juan said that the first 7 starts count. The issue was if you've already had 6 starts, then have two more at the same time.
  14. Yep, re-signing Grabow sure turned out to be a good move. Give Hendry a lifetime contract extension for his brilliance.

I think we said the 8th start doesn't count if there's a clear distinction between 7th and 8th (such as one afternoon and one night start), but losing the best start if the games for the 7th and 8th starts begin at around the same time.
  16. Bizarre that in the first week of the season we had 2 games on CSN+, 1 game on WCIU, and only 1 game on WGN. Two games on WGN (Friday and Saturday).
  17. Pushed back again because his back is still sore. He's now scheduled for a bullpen session at Wrigley on Monday.
  18. So what two new teams were added this year? :D
  19. I think chances of this actually happening are approximately zero percent. Not even the Cobs are stupid enough to bring back Lilly after only one rehab start following both shoulder and knee surgery, especially with that start being pushed back due to back stiffness. And it makes no sense anyway, because that would mean four lefties in the bullpen (Grabow, Marshall, Russell, and Gorzellany). This may have been talk out of frustration, but in the end it's not gonna happen. And if Hendry is serious about it Ricketts absolutely must step in and nix it.
  20. I think it was actually 2 1/2 years for Perry. I think he started with the Cubs along with Lou in 2007.
  21. I think the Cubs have a very reliable 8th inning reliever (Marshall); Lou just needs to actually use him in the 8th.
  22. This seems to be the start of the annual bad moves thread.
  23. Has to be (or maybe he's sick). No way he sits out two of the first four games otherwise.
  24. Confirmed.
