  1. BTW, I'm moving this to Fantasy Discussions. This is a fantasy-type contest, and there may be people interested in it who don't visit the Social forum and therefore might be unaware of it.
  2. I edited the original post in this thread to reflect Guzman's three shutout innings.
  3. I have a hunch that Mickelson is ready to win his second major. :D
  4. Within the next few days I plan to set up leagues for both College Pick'em and Survival Football (if nobody else does in the meantime).
  5. You're not anymore. :D
  6. Fixed. :D
  7. I'm in as NC's Bears.
  8. Plus he hit a batter. He retired one batter out of five faced. His ERA is now, as Steve Stone would put it, a robust 22.24. I have more interest in him than normal since he played at my alma mater, Ball State. It's sad seeing him struggle so much after his pro career got off to such a great start before he had TJS.
  9. That would be Andy MacPhail, the Cubs' President.
  10. I'd like to see Girardi managing the Cubs, with a former major league manager (I'm thinking Grady Little) serving as bench coach to help him out.
  11. Hopefully Sept. 1 isn't a literal date, but rather after the Djaxx wrap up the Southern League championship.
  12. Definitely the Braves, no question about it. His Braves numbers warrant Hall of Fame induction even without his Cubs numbers. The converse is not true; his Cub numbers without his Brave numbers would justify a couple of All-Star selections, but by themselves aren't HOF worthy.
  13. Yes, that's the name of the movie. It's a true story; the contestant actually was fed the questions and answers in advance so he'd keep winning (I believe it was in the late 50s).
  14. I had Ford on one of my fantasy teams earlier this year, and I cut him. He wasn't helping me any.
  15. I picked up Jhonny Peralta as a free agent a few weeks ago in a keeper league I'm in. He's done very well for me (helping me improve to a 3-14 record after an 0-13 start :D ).
  16. For what it's worth Stone this morning on the score said he was to come up soon. According to another thread the other Bruce (Levine) said the same thing on ESPN Radio. He said 7 to 10 days.
  17. Unless this is a keeper league you might want to cancel the claim. Bonds told mlb.com today that he doesn't anticipate playing any this year.
  18. Less than five minutes away now.
  19. This on top of getting Lee elected as an All-Star Game starter. Not too shabby of a month for Vance. :D
  20. It's probably just a little over $2.5 million for the rest of the season. There's just a little over 1/3 of the season remaining (the Cubs are three games short of being exactly at the 2/3 mark). Subtract the $1 million received from Pittsburgh, and your $1.5 million figure is very close.
  21. It really isn't even $6.5 million; it's less than a half year's prorated portion of that.
  22. He was also browsing in the Transactions forum late yesterday afternoon, shortly after the deadline.
  23. Here is the transcript of Sandberg's speech, posted on the Hall of Fame's web site. It's a Microsoft Word document, so you probably need to have either Word or Word Viewer (a free program downloadable from Microsoft's web site) to open it.
  24. I really enjoyed Sandberg's speech. I happen to agree with him about having respect for the game. I miss the days when players cared more about the team and weren't as concerned with individual stats and attention. I wonder why Ernie Banks didn't attend. He was one of the very few living HOF members who did not attend. I hope there isn't anything wrong with him.
  25. I'd probably keep McGahee and hope that Culpepper (or a QB of similar quality) is available when your draft pick comes. I think Peyton is the only QB I'd choose over a top RB.
