  1. I'd drop Aurillia. I think he has a lot of value as a bench player since he can serve as an injury/off day fill-in at several positions. I don't think that much of him as a starter, however.
  2. If anything, I'm not sure you're asking enough. Maddux looks like he may win another Cy Young award. Sheets is very good when healthy, but Lieber is off to a real rough start this year.
  3. The Cubs version is h-e-double toothpicks (Dusty reference). :D
  4. D-Rays top prospect, and one of the top propsects in all of baseball. People are talking multiple all-star appearences for this kid. According to Baseball America, he's THE top prospect in all of baseball. Numero uno. The top dog. The big cheese. [/Airplane reference]
  5. From the description and the fact he was a freshman, I wonder if it was a hazing incident that went way too far.
  6. Actually, by that time I was old enough that I always got myself up in the morning. It was my father that I was more worried about finding out. My brother did the same thing, so neither of us had to worry about the other telling.
  7. I didn't realize it went that far back. I started following the Cubs on TV in 1969; it was the early 70s when I started listening to some of the games on radio (mainly the west coast games, listening with my old-fashioned battery operated transistor radio with ear plug when I was supposed to be asleep).
  8. I remember that as the opening song on WGN radio back in the early 70s.
  9. It was me. I have Murton on my team in a keeper league with weekly lineup changes. I benched him for this week since he was struggling, and that guaranteed that he'd have a big week.
  10. I traded a spare part for him, and I also have Baez. Dempster is also on my team, so I'm well set at closer regardless of how well Gagne comes back.
  11. Sledge is in AAA. He was sent down last week.
  12. Position players need 5 starts or 10 total appearances to become eligible at the new position. So it shouldn't be very long before he becomes eligible at 1B (that's if he can play that many games before his next injury :D ).
  13. There have been rumors that he might be traded, possibly to the Colts. I believe I saw a brief blurb about that on Yahoo.
  14. I'd guess you're in last place mainly because of the pitching categories. A better starting staff would be Maddux, Zambrano, Schilling, Moyer, and Odalis Perez (all of whom I have on my first-place team).
  15. I like to have Cubs on my fantasy teams; I get satisfaction of doing well when Cubs do well. In my Yahoo league I've got Cedeno, Walker, Barrett, Maddux, Zambrano, and Dempster on my team. And that team is 25-5 after three weeks (including 10-0 last week and 9-1 the previous week) and in first place out of 16. So my good fortune with Maddux would easily cancel out any bad karma if you add him. :D
  16. Agreed; this isn't firedustybaker.com (which actually exists).
  17. And based on what do you call him a bum? That's pretty strong.
  18. Since the bullpen got some rest the last couple of days and Guzman wasn't needed in long relief, I'd expect him to start Wednesday. I think that was probably the question, whether he was needed in long relief before then. Fortunately Maddux and Zambrano were able to go deep in the games.
  19. Yes. Apparently we need more injured pitchers in order to have a full five-man simulated game rotation.
  20. Fortunately I swept my matchup despite my oversight. My opponent tied me in wins and strikeouts on Saturday, but Maddux put me back on top yesterday.
  21. Manning was arrested in Los Angeles Sunday. He was arrested on suspicion of assault following a fight at a Denny's restaurant near the UCLA campus.
  22. Agreed and also the reason I thought the Miller pickup was an excellent move. When Dempster was signed, didn't he pitch very late in the year after rehab? Yes, much the same way as Williamson pitched late in the year last year. It used to be standard that a pitcher missed an entire year after TJS, but not anymore.
  23. If Zambrano starts, your in trouble.
