    I thought Big Z had 10-5 rights anyways? Either way, what a ridiculous article. I don't think he has those rights for another year. He did pitch at the major league level a little in 2001, but probably not enough for him to get credit (I'm not sure what the rule is for partial years).

    The Carolina Mudcats are reportedly being sold to a Florida businessman and expected to move to Pensacola, Florida for the 2012 season. In related news, the current Mudcats owner will reportedly buy the Kinston Indians (high-A team of the Cleveland Indians, in the Carolina League) and move them to Zebulon in 2012. Me no likey. There goes my chance to see the Tennessee Smokies come to Carolina each year. :cry:

    Maybe they should just forefit the game. That would be the break to end all breaks. They could use the White Sox forfeiting a game when (old) Comiskey Park was unplayable following Disco Demolition Night as precedence to argue for a forfeit due to an unplayable field. :D OK, back to reality. when was this? Late 1970s or early 1980s (I don't recall the exact year). It was during Bill Veek's second stint as owner. It was a doubleheader (there were actually scheduled DHs back then) and anybody bringing a disco record to be burned was admitted free. Between games a bonfire was lit on the field and the records were burned. The fire damaged the field enough to make it unplayable for the second game, so the Sox had to forfeit the game.

    I'm not so sure what you mean by the second sentence but yes, there is no justication for this decision not already being set in stone. The second sentence was basically an awkward way of saying that it isn't fair to keep the Bears in limbo because of the Vikings' stadium problems.

    I don't recall that specific issue, but I do remember in general that a lot of people (including Bruce Miles IIRC) said that Dusty didn't listen to Larry. It would certainly be plausible that pitch counts was one of those areas.

    One way or another they need to decide where the game is being played almost immediately so both teams know what to prepare for and so the Bears can make the right travel plans. Waiting until the weekend to see if TCF can be prepared is not sufficient time. Any doubt whatsoever needs to be resolved in the Bears' favor since the Vikings have responsibility for their field. They must bear (pun not intended) the entire inconvenience of their field being unplayable.

    I won't have Rodgers or Gates at my disposal, though. I have Roethlisberger ready to play, though. I may be without both Smith (the Giant) and Manningham, and it hasn't been reported yet whether Collie will be back.

    Easy to say considering that this year is completed. It's premature to say that they won't make it NEXT year (2011), though. Too many people on this board say that the Cubs can't make the playoffs next year as if it's already a fact (it isn't). Well, when I said next this year I was more referring to 2011. I should have been more clear. However, I think the odds of us making it are very small. I'll still cheer for the team and hope they do make it, but it's best to be realistic and look towards the future. I knew you meant 2011; I was being facetious with that comment (I meant to make that clear with a smiley). My main point was meant to be that people are being too quick to write off the Cubs' playoff chances considering what division they're in. If they were in either the NL East or AL East I'd say their chances would be less than zero, but not in the NL Central.

    I don't think you're gonna have a choice. I don't think Brett is playing again...almost def not this week. No reason at all to play him. The Vikings have been eliminated and his streak has ended. I think he has played his last game.

    I agree. Both of my leagues are 13 weeks regular season and playoffs in weeks 14 through 16. Too many NFL players on teams that have already clinched playoff spots sit in week 17.

    After finishing in the top 4 of every league, I'm all but eliminated in all but one. If it's possible to choke in fantasy playoffs, I've found a way to do it. In my other league the regular season champion was 13-0, then lost to the 8th seed in the first round of the playoffs.

    How to advance in NSBB playoffs: Step 1. Put up second worst score of the week. Step 2. Thank your lucky stars that your opponent is the one team with an even more putrid week.

    It's scheduled for the early afternoon slot according to the Bears' web site. I don't know whether that's subject to change with flexible scheduling.

    Imagine how long the Pujols thread here will be that offseason if it is drawn out. Probably longer than the Roberts and Peavy threads combined.

    ESPN is reporting that as well. I'm sure the Vikings will have to give a refund to everybody who had a ticket to the game. They couldn't refuse to with the game being moved to another city.
