  1. The Cubs actually lead the Cardinals by 4 games, not 3.5.
  2. Hopefully the Brewers will have one of their patented choke jobs and the Cubs will increase their lead to a game and a half. That would ensure that the Cubs will be in first place at the end of the weekend regardless what happens tomorrow.
  3. The league's now complete. The draft will be able to proceed as scheduled.
  4. Again, 8 and 9 apply to the minor leagues, not majors.
  5. No. 8 applies in games that are suspended before they become regulations games (4 1/2 innings or 5 if the visitor leads). The 7 inning rule only applies to games suspended for reasons other than weather. No, it could be for a game suspended for any reason. The key point is that rule applies to the minor leagues, not the majors. Note the bolded part of the above quote. No. 8 and 9 apply to National Association leagues, which is the official name for the minors.
  6. You're not mistaken. For the game to be suspended the Cardinals would have needed to take the lead (or at least tie).
  7. It's addressed by silence. Since the game is official and it does not fit into one of the situations resulting in a suspended game, it is considered completed.
  8. That rule relates to the minor leagues only. If a suspended game that is not yet official is resumed prior to a regularly scheduled game then the regular game only goes 7 innings (just like minor league double header games only go 7 innings).
  9. It makes no sense to suspend the game. A suspended game occurs if the home team led at the end of the previous inning but the visiting team takes the lead in the current inning. That's not what's happening here. It was already a complete game, the Cubs led at the end of the last completed inning and they still lead, so if the game's called the Cubs win.
  10. Still need one more member. The draft is a week tonight, and it can't be held if there's an odd number of teams.
  11. It can't be Wilson. It can't be a player that was on an NL team's major league roster at the time of the trade.
  12. It looks like I get the damn Yankees game tomorrow. :x The stupid Saturday blackout on Extra Innings simply has to end. Fox shouldn't have the right to dictate to paying subscribers what games they can and can't watch. I have visions of a repeat of 2003, where I was completely unable to watch the Cubs' clincher because of the indefensible blackout rules.
  13. The Brewers hit rock bottom tonight. I watched most of the game, and they played worse than Little Leaguers in the field. On one play the Brewers turned a likely double play into two runs by committing two errors on the same play. They had four errors in total.
  14. I believe it's mathematically possible to calculate a magic number for any team up until they're officially eliminated. However, I've never heard any talk about magic numbers for any but first place teams.
  15. 312 is the area code in downtown Chicago (many years ago it was the area code for the entire Chicago area). Second City is the name of a well-known comedy club (John Belushi, Bill Murray, and others are alumni); it got its name because at one time Chicago was the second largest (in terms of population) city in the country, behind New York and ahead of Los Angeles (which has since passed Chicago).
  16. And dead people voting is also part of the process. :D
  17. Still have one position to fill.
  18. Actually, save one inning, he had a good start today.
  19. That's exactly how the system was designed! Did you notice the screw abuck factor? that would explain it. well, obviously ryan ---someone please ban me because I just said a bad word--- jorgensen is going to get his first ---someone please ban me because I just said a bad word--- major league hit by hitting a cocksucking ---someone please ban me because I just said a bad word--- homerun against lilly and the cubs. any more starts for gallardo? You must really want to be banned if you ask three times in a single post. :D
  20. He's gone. Hendry screwed this up, like he does everything else. No he isn't. He wants to stay with the Cubs and SOMEHOW they'll get it done.
  21. Really? I haven't noticed that trend at all. And he wasn't mocking Floyd's father. Perhaps I should be more specific - moking the dead and those who mourn the loss. The trend seemed to peek a couple of months ago, IIRC. The last time I remember the issue being raised was when Hancock died. I think that's consistent with the time frame you mentioned.
  22. Urgh, I was confusing this league with the Windy City Football league. This league was started before Windy City Football was born. :D
  23. It's a live draft, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 25 at 8:00 P.M. Eastern time (7:00 Central, etc.). If unable to participate in the live draft you can set your own prerankings from now up until 45 minutes before the draft time.
