  1. Players can and sometimes do agree to waive no-trade clauses.
  2. I got the same message, so obviously it isn't discriminating against non-Cubs fans. :D Also, the message opened in the same window, not a new one.
  3. Blah blah, Tommy John surgery the next year.
  4. He's a Devil Rays' outfielder. A bad attitude is a job requirement. :D
  5. Wow, wish I had ESPNU to see that one. GW was 9-21 in the mighty Atlantic Sun last year too. I don't remember a ranked team getting blown out at home vs a team like that. It's college basketball's equivalent of Appalachian State over Michigan.
  6. Pie seems to be coming on a bit now. I remember not long ago his average was below the Mendoza line.
  7. Nothing at all surprising about that. If he game had been in New England than maybe it would have been a surprise. As it was 55% still picked New England.
  8. Was that the immature Cub fan from Alaska that used to post here? :D
  9. There needs to be a reasonable limit. It shouldn't be necessary to block all of them just because a couple of posters don't keep them reasonably sized. If it was possible to block individual posters' avatars and sigs it might be different.
  10. http://www.northsidebaseball.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=45197
  11. That was a separate trade (for Bynum). That was a good trade, but the Trachsel trade was inexcusable.
  12. MacPhail knows he can rob Hendry blind
  13. I first saw a headline that only mentioned the last name, and I figured it was former Dodgers manager Bill Russell (I didn't pay close attention to the spelling of the last name in the headline).
  14. Why? I don't think it matters much. The prospect pitchers will get their chances but invariably some will be shuffled up from Iowa to the pen and others will get hurt so it's a good idea to have a AAA veteran guy who can start all season long. Agreed. It helps to have some veteran roster-filler to fill in here and there. It's not like he'd be blocking a prospect.
  15. Maybe, but we're talking about the present. I'm sure there are probably quite a few posters that don't yet have widescreen (even though I do).
  16. But they're both charter members of the Towel Throw Hall of Fame.
  17. I've set this up so people can explore the new features, which include the ability to allow more than one response and allow people to change their votes. Play around with it.
  18. I can't make a definite commitment at this time, but once the free agency filing deadline has passed I might have a chance to come up with the list. It might not take too long to type the players and VORP into an Excel spreadsheet, then sort based on VORP.
  19. MurtonFan's quote of your post suggests otherwise. :D

  21. What can I say, I'm nostalgic for better days! If not for the choke job against the Padres in the NLCS the rivalry would have been renewed in 1984. Had that happened the Cubs vs. Tigers probably would have been a real rivalry, since that would have been the fifth Cubs vs. Tigers Series.
  22. Time for you to stop liking some of these guys because, hey wait, you're real name isn't Andy is it? Hmm, maybe the Andy that posts here is just pretending to be a Ball State student in order to hide his true identity. :D
  23. There's been some talk that the Twins may trade him because they may not be able to afford to sign him once he becomes a free agent.
