  1. Horrors! Marmol finally gave up a walk! Still, I can live with his ERA and K/BB ratio. :D
  2. I was spared the torture of watching the IU game today. The game was televised on CBS, but my local CBS station is part of the ACC network, so the game was pre-empted for North Carolina State vs. Florida State.
  3. 1998; the year Neifi really did save the Cubs.
  4. They go on sale at 10 AM online and over the phone. I believe the box office at Wrigley starts at 8 AM. And the lottery # for what # is the first wristband is at 6 AM. Wristbands are usually given out Mon-Weds of the week tickets go on sale IIRC. Man do I wish I lived in Chicago and could just head to the stadium. JR It's not a stadium, it's a field. Remember Jeff Gordon and Wrigley Stadium? :D
  5. If it keeps going like this, it may soon be the only thread in NSBB history. Never before has a thread's content been as much about the thread than it's supposed topic. It's become a blob-like movie monster feeding on itself, expanding, soon to absorb all other threads past and present. I love it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v365/XZero77/pizzathehut.jpg Good ole Spaceballs. One of my favorite parody movies.
  6. He'll play. and win super bowl mvp Possibly. After all, there is precedence for a player from the losing team to win MVP. :D
  7. Um..... (I just have to rub it in a little since I went to graduate school at Kentucky.)
  8. My memory is that it was when I lived there (1962 through 1975). If I recall you used to live in Waukegan; I lived just west of Gurnee. My recollection is that Illinois was usually a Republican state except for Chicago. Good memory, NC! Been a long time since we had that discussion. Lets have a moment of silence for the scores of memories that perished so that this one could be retained...... 8-)
  9. I really think the Giants have a chance. The Patriots will have more pressure on them than almost any other Super Bowl team. The Giants, on the other hand, have already far exceeded expectations just by making it to the Super Bowl. They can play relaxed without any pressure on them whatsoever. I see their situation as similar to the Steelers two years ago, and they pulled it off.
  10. OK, by popular demand I've moved it back to Social. This thread is racking up the frequent flier miles. :D
  11. I'm one of the now 7 insane people. I'm thinking that the Patriots will be under more pressure than almost any Super Bowl team ever, while the Giants have already far exceeded expectations just by making the Super Bowl and can therefore play relaxed with no pressure on them whatsoever. This reminds me somewhat of the Super Bowl two years ago when the Seahawks were expected to win because they were the best team in the NFC, while the Steelers were a surprise just to mae it to the Super Bowl after barely making the playoffs as the last seed. Yet the Steelers won it, and I think that the Giants can this year in a similar situation.
  12. My memory is that it was when I lived there (1962 through 1975). If I recall you used to live in Waukegan; I lived just west of Gurnee. My recollection is that Illinois was usually a Republican state except for Chicago.
  13. Correct. It was during the 2002 season that he stepped down as GM and promoted Hendry to replace him. That happened at the same time Don Baylor was fired as manager and replaced by Bruce Kimm.
  14. Actually Leon Lee is Derrek's father. His uncle is former major leaguer Leron Lee. Leon Lee
  15. Yes, it was Kilroy (disguised as a robot to hide from Dr. Righteous). The title of the album is Kilroy Was Here.
  16. Only two more pages in this thread in the past day? Slackers!
  17. They might be able to void the trade under those circumstances. I'm not sure; I don't know of any precedence for this situation.
  18. Sunnydoo, is that you?
  19. Very likely. Raleigh is a 1st/2nd round location (I have a ticket) and Charlotte is a regional site.
  20. Mark Prior has thrown over 200 innings since Carlos Zambrano's last shutout. Mark Prior has thrown ZERO innings since Rich Hill's last shutout. guh? Yes, Rich Hill threw a 9 inning, CG SHO in 2006, a year where he was averaging 5 2/3 IP per start. Blind Squirrel, meet nut. Hill actually had two complete games in 2006. Admittedly, the second one was rain-shortened.
  21. Kind of a worthless post; aren't they pronounced the same? The reference was to Jabba the Hut from the Star Wars movies. http://i40.photobucket.com/albums/e250/man0lo/jabba-real_v.jpg
  22. So to summarize several more pages the Orioles and Cubs may or may not have agreed to a trade for Roberts, which may or may not be announced this weekend at the Cubs' Convention.
