  1. Raisin is approaching being the first Inner-Circle HOF member. So much for pretending there isn't an inner-circle.
  2. Since he was also insisting on a team that trains in Florida I'm sure it was a geographical preference.
  3. I root for the TEAM more than individual players. Whoever will help the TEAM win the World Series is fine by me (I'm talking about the concept, not Barroids specifically). A century is WAY too long between championships. Beggars can't be choosers. I think most fans would care less if there are a few unlikeable players on the team when they finally win a title.
  4. Whats funny is you think we are all overreacting regarding Dusty Baker, when we all have seen him a hell of alot more than Reds fans have, but keep up that optimism. This reminds me of when Dusty was hired by the Cubs. Giants' fans posted on the cubs.com forum to warn us, but we wouldn't believe them. Now we're the ones who know better.
  5. Either that or: :^o
  6. Wow, SanClementeFan made an appearance in this thread. :D
  7. The Bruce Miles of Muncie. :D
  8. Actually it's cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs.http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/c/cf/CocoaPuffs.jpg
  9. Something's totally messed up with your link, but I can't tell what.
  10. Trout started the season with the Cubs but was traded to the Yankees in July. This game (assuming it's the one on the DVD) was in August. So it couldn't have been "Rainbow" with the glasses.
  11. According to Yahoo, fantasy baseball will return in early February. Since it is now early February it should be fairly soon.
  12. He's ba-ack. Return of the Mouth that Roared
  13. Geoveny Soto
  14. Maybe it should be renamed the Pinoccio thread. :^o :^o :^o :^o :^o
  15. ANOTHER multi-page Roberts thread. Oh joy.
  16. Actually, iirc premium has existed since before NSBB started carrying ads. Premium is there to support the site, not seeing the ads was just a fringe benefit. I believe you're right about Premium existing before the ads started. And you're definitely right about the purpose of Premium being to support the site as opposed to getting benefits in return. It's similar to the premiums offered during PBS pledge drives: they're a token of appreciation, but not intended to be an exchange of equal value.
  17. The Cubs will have played in both the first (1940) and last Hall of Fame games. And it's fitting that the game is against the Fathers since it is being played on Father's Day weekend. :D If Murphy's Law has anything to say about it the game will be rained out, and they won't be able to find a makeup date that fits both teams' schedules. It's also ironic that the announcement was made on the anniversary of the announcement of the first induction class (it was on this date in 1936 that the first class was announced). So Jan. 29 is a date for announcing HOF firsts and lasts.
  18. The additional games played after you thought the playoffs were over got Cedeno's playoff BA above the Mendoza Line. :D
  19. My sources tell me that the Robert trade is a done deal, but MacPhail and Hendry have agreed to sit on it awhile before announcing it because they both are amused watching this thread and seeing how big it grows. :D
  20. And Slick Willie said "I did not have sexual relations with that woman."
  21. You forgot the question of whether he'll even be a Cub.
  22. Your argument seems to assume that, because Marmol's role was as an 8th inning setup man last year, that means he's doomed to stay in that role. I think that's far from a given.
  23. Probably just because it's a tangible sign that the season is one step closer.
