  1. What does Will Ohman have to do with this? He was traded away in the offseason. :D
  2. I look at it more as Gallagher for Harden and Gaudin. Gaudin himself can be a significant contributor the rest of the year.
  3. The question is, is there really an available rent-a-bat off the bench that would be any better than Hoffpauir? I don't know, and I don't really think the Cubs need one; I just think that would be MORE helpful than another reliever (even without one they'll soon need to send down someone like Cotts or Wuertz). I actually wouldn't mind it the Cubs just stood pat now. They've made the needed improvements.
  4. We can also look at it as since MacPhail left. That may be just as significant. True. It's at least my perception that Hendry has had more free reign since MacPhail left. I think McDonough realized that he's a marketing person, not a baseball person, and left most of the baseball decisions up to Hendry.
  5. We can also look at it as since MacPhail left. That may be just as significant.
  6. Had the Cubs given up more in terms of real prospects I probably would have gone with the injury concern choice. But since they got both Harden and Gaudin for as little as they gave up I went with the first choice.
  7. I still think Hoffpauir is more likely.
  8. I don't even see a bullpen move as likely now; that's already been upgraded with Gaudin. I think another banch bat would be the most likely move.
  9. I doubt the Cubs will be trading for Greinke now (although I'd love to trade Marquis for him). :D
  10. Oh, I'm pretty sure myself that Hendry will get another starter... Problem is, said starter's initials will be "R.W." Well, at least you got the first initial right. :D
  11. He may have been broken, but now he's fixed again.
  12. I hope you aren't serious. Was 6 innings at St. Louis not enough or something? I wasn't saying that's what I WANT the Cubs to do, but rather what I think they might do. I'd much rather see Marshall replace Marquis in the rotation, but barring that I'd rather Marshall star in Iowa than be in the Cubs' bullpen.
  13. I really think 92 wins is too low for this year's Cubs team (and I thought that before the Harden trade).
  14. Yes (in case you really didn't know as opposed to being sarcastic),
  15. Barring a trade, I can see Marshall being sent back t Iowa to stay stretched out as a starter.
  16.
  17. There should actually be two openngs for a position player at Iowa, since the Cubs will need to call up an outfielder, most likely Hoffpauir, to replace Murton (unless they decide to go with 13 pitchers the rest of this week until Soriano is activated after the break).
  18. whoops And to think we got another solid pitcher (Gaudin) as a bonus.
  19. Foolish us for ever doubting SSBW's influence. :D
  20. This thread should be locked right now just for the irony. 7 yes votes, 7 no votes, and Favre wore #7. :D
  21. It looks like two empty spots, which would go to texascub and CubbieBum. I just haven't gotten that information sent out yet because I've been busy during the week lately. I'll probably have a chance to do so by this weekend if not sooner.
  22. I was thinking that last year it was July 31, just like the major league trading deadline. I'm not 100% sure about that.
  23. So I don't waste my second pre-break move: Drop Fielder, add Howard.
  24. I believe it was posted on here a few years ago when he was with the Cubs the first time that he said once he didn't like the nickname. So yes, he knows it.
