  1. Hendry obviously read your post. :D
  2. I'm down to #391, with 76 points (going in the wrong direction; I had 90 just a couple of weeks ago). Two players (Kendall and Ellis) account for nearly 2/3 of my total.
  3. Part of that transaction was that Sean Gallagher was called up.
  4. Now it's been fixed. :(
  5. he got b& for no good reason Nobody gets banned for no good reason. If he was banned (I will neither confirm nor deny) it would have been for a good reason.
  6. They already have 5 outfielders in Iowa......what roster need was he filling?Maybe Scales. He was called up today to fill Zambrano's roster spot until Wells is called up for Friday's game. I'd think Scales would go back down then. I would think there is at least a chance that Gathwright is the one who leaves on Friday. I can't believe they went a month without a 2nd backup middle infielder. And now that their only 3 guys have played for like 2 weeks straight I would think Lou would tire of the situation. I think there's a chance that Gathright is done too; he serves no useful purpose. But that would be the smart move, which probably rules it out.
  7. You have to touch all the bases to get the HR. Ventura had a HR turned into a 2B because his teammates mobbed him at 2nd after the winning run already crossed the plate. My guess is the guy would have to crawl around, or have the opposing team carry you, like that softball player last year. In the event of an injury on a home run, a pinch runner can take the place of the hitter and finish rounding the bases. This leads to a player being able to hit a home run, but not score a run, as the pr gets credit for that. I think there's probably a similar rule where if a player is hit by a pitch and injured a pinch runner could probably touch first for him.
  8. I think Santo should sing it every day. This guest conductor crap grew old a long time ago. Better still in my opinion, play a tape of Harry singing.
  9. Why on earth do you want to give Theriot a day off now? 3 HR's in 4 games? Let the guy play while he's hot. Wasn't Dusty Baker the king of giving guys off days in the middle of hot streaks or is that my hatred for the guy warping my memories? That was Dusty all right. I remember jokes on this board about Dusty giving a player a day off as a reward for a good game.
  10. I agree with resting the players. The game was a likely loss anyway, so in effect it was an unscheduled day off. The Cubs have still won 4 of the last 5; if they continue that all year (they won't) they'll be playing in October.
  11. Boo, Matt Capps is out until the weekend. I was looking forward to more negative points from him. On the plus side, I got 24 points combined from Molina and Lind today. Gives me a 46 point lead and we both have 4 pitching starts remaining (including one each tonight). This is one of the weeks where most of my pitchers have 2 starts, so I have 11 total to choose 7 from. The one week I lost this year was basically the same, and I made the wrong decisions.
  12. Where are your priorities? [-X
  13. My guess would be that an outfielder overran a ball and allowed it to roll to the fence, but because he didn't actually touch the ball he wasn't charged with an error. BBB's explanation would be more interesting, though. :D
  14. Ward was mentioned on the Cubs' radio broadcast tonight as a trivia item. He and his father, Gary Ward, are the only father-son combination to both hit for the cycle in MLB history.
  15. He's slumping. He only had one SB tonight.
  16. That's exactly what it means. Since Wells won't pitch until Friday he doesn't need to be called up before then and basically waste a roster spot for a few days. So they decided to go with an extra position player until then, and on Friday someone (probably Scales or Gathright) will go to make room for Wells on the roster.
  17. Seems like it's time to start a new thread looking ahead to a new season. John Wall, the top unsigned senior in the nation, was arrested for breaking and entering when he was seen by police walking out of a vacant house in North Carolina.
  18. They already have 5 outfielders in Iowa......what roster need was he filling?Maybe Scales. He was called up today to fill Zambrano's roster spot until Wells is called up for Friday's game. I'd think Scales would go back down then.

    Week 5

Raw Dawgs (1-3) at NC Cubs (3-1) The Eyes of Texas (2-2) at Sabermetrics (2-1-1) Harry's Budcrew (2-2) at Valenzuela's Screwballs (0-4) Quakers (3-1) at Northside Baseball (2-2) Tootielicious (4-0) at Galesburg Hand Sanitizers (1-3) Lynx (3-0-1) at Alamo Stealth (2-2) Fuzzy Logistics (1-3) at Severe Tooterstorms (0-4) Tampa Bay Rays (3-1) at The Fighting Manginos (2-2) Not one single matchup featuring two teams with winning records. Raw and I each have three of our pitching starts tonight. He has both starting pitchers in the Cubs-Giants game, so as a Cubs fan I'm hoping for a big positive score for Dempster and an even bigger negative score for Sanchez.
  20. Wait, what? He's saying he'd rather see Wise on the Cubs than Gathright.
  21. I actually saw Montanez play in a minor league game earlier this year, the much-hyped Wieters vs. Price battle at Durham.
  22. OK, I'm falling further and further behind, so time to make both of my first-half moves now. Group C--Drop Hamilton, add Longoria Group D (being real original here)--Drop Ortiz, add Kinsler
  23. I love me some John Danks. I thought I'd lose this week after Lohse's start was rained out (and that took Zimmerman out too). But thanks to Danks' second negative outing of the week I pulled it out. Meanwhile Adam had Richmond (21 points today) on his bench. He has to be PISSED. \:D/
  24. Reyes now pitches for Cleveland. All indications suggests that Motte will turn into a very reliable bullpen arm. Different Reyes.
  25. Interesting how quickly Theriot goes from zero to hero. And Marmol rediscovered the strike zone, in the midst of a single at-bat no less. Things can really turn around in a hurry (in both directions).
