  1. It's too bad there isn't a 7-day DL like there is in the minors. If there were I think Aram and Bradley would have been on it and the bench would have been at full strength.
  2. I whole-heartedly endorse this message.
  3. My matchup with abuck is tightening up. Peavy pitched like Peavy today, which cut into my lead. I still lead by 25, but he has a 2-1 pitching advantage remaining.
  4. So now we know what Donovan McNabb does during the off-season. :D
  5. I knew from the first two words of the title of this thread that you'd make an appearance. :D
  6. Better still, Hendry should never have traded DeRosa in the first place. Problem solved before it even becomes a problem.
  7. Probably because at one time (last year) he actually was.
  8. Even with Aram avoiding the DL another infielder is needed. Tonight showed that. To me it seems like a no-brainer. Bye bye Gathright, bring Scales up or sign a free agent.
  9. Wrong. We have a good team that's playing bad right now. There's a difference. A bad team would stay bad; a good team hopefully won't.
  10. Hendry created a huge mess by trading DeRosa and Cedeno. Now he has an obligation to somehow figure out to fix the mess he created, and NOW. Hill as the only backup 3B is inexcusable. Even when Aram is able to play they need more than one backup. Gathright must go immediately in favor of a utility infielder.
  11. Dear Hendry: You ABSOLUTELY MUST bring up a third baseman before tomorrow's game (even if Aram is able to start). Koyie Hill as the only backup cannot be tolerated. Bye bye Gathright.
  12. Not if it handcuffs Hendry and prevents him from adding payroll and trading for Peavy.
  13. As much as I hate to say it because it shows my age, but I remember Allen's days with the Sox. I remember it was when he was traded to the Sox that he insisted on being called Dick (how appropriate); before then he was Richie. I also remember Chuch Tanner bending over backwards to pacify him. When he wore out his welcome with the Sox he was traded for the same player (Jim Essian) twice within a year. The Sox traded him to the Braves for a PTBNL. He refused to report to the Braves and was traded to the Phillies for Essian. The Braves then sent Essian to the Sox as the PTBNL for Allen.
  14. Durham or Grudz. Getting another infielder IMMEDIATELY is an ABSOLUTE MUST. When your only available backup infielder is Koyie Hill that's unacceptable.
  15. Crash Davis approves of this message.
  16. Nice to see Volquez finally have a great start. Too bad he gave up one hit in the first.
  17. It would be more like a week. If Aram is Dled it would undoubtedly be backdated, so the games he's already missed would count toward the 15 days.
  18. I've thought the same thing. Bronx Burning (or whatever the actual title was) shows that a good miniseries can be made based on a season. Maybe the MLB Network would consider a miniseries for the offseason when they need to fill in the gaps.
  19. If we could turn back the clock and make it retroactive a couple of years so I could have stashed Liriano on the DL all year and kept him. :D
  20. I remember the CUBS going 79-83 (.488) in 2005..... but there were those 20 games where Dusty batted Corey Patterson leadoff and Neifi Perez second...... Gm# Date Opponent Score Starter 8 Wed 04/13 San Diego 3- 8 Wood 11 Sat 04/16 @ Pittsburgh N 4- 3 Dempster 15 Wed 04/20 @ St. Louis N 3- 1 Zambrano 29 Sat 05/07 Philadelphia 1- 4 Rusch 30 Sun 05/08 Philadelphia 2- 1 Zambrano 31 Mon 05/09 New York N 4- 7 Leicester 32 Tue 05/10 New York N 7- 0 Maddux 33 Wed 05/11 New York 4- 3 Prior 34 Fri 05/13 @ Washington N 6- 3 Rusch 35 Sat 05/14 @ Washington N 3- 4 Zambrano 36 Sun 05/15 @ Washington 4- 5 Maddux 70 Wed 06/22 @ Milwaukee N 4- 9 Zambrano 71 Thu 06/23 @ Milwaukee 7- 8 Rusch 72 Fri 06/24 @ Chicago (AL) 2-12 Mitre 73 Sat 06/25 @ Chicago (AL) 6- 2 Maddux 74 Sun 06/26 @ Chicago (AL) 2- 0 Prior 75 Tue 06/28 Milwaukee N 2- 0 Zambrano 76 Wed 06/29 Milwaukee 3- 2 Wood 78 Fri 07/01 Washington 3- 4 Prior 79 Sat 07/02 Washington 2- 4 Williams .... and sure enough, the CUBS went 10-10 with Corey & Neifi. Time to let it go. This just isn't what killed the '05 CUBS !!!!! Proves that Carrie Muskat was right when she said that Neifi saved the Cubs. :D
  21. McLouth is expected to miss the entire Milwaukee series, so I'm starting the week with him on the bench, DeRosa moved to OF (yay for multi-position eligibility) and Polanco at 2B.
  22. Um, no. Kosuke is not washed up and you know it. Lee, maybe.
  23. Nah, it will be 0-162. They'll have to forfeit all their wins when it's discovered that "Fukodome" is actually an imposter. After all, we all know that the REAL Fukodome sucks.
  24. I'll give Soto and Big Papi one more week to show signs of life, and if they don't I may need to use both of my first half moves early and pray for no injuries to my remaining players.
  25. How quickly we forget 2008. How quickly YOU are obviously forgetting that 2008 was his FIRST year at a higher level of competition and he was recovering from an elbow injury the previous year. If he starts to fall off again this year then we'll talk.
