  1. Taking a job with the enemy. [-X Seriously, congratulations. It would be fun to work in baseball, even with the wrong organization.
  2. That's not how it works. I believe it is. I'm fairly sure that's how Marmol got in last year.
  3. I believe Soriano's automatically in if Beltran and/or Ibanez are unable to play and Soriano is next in line in fan voting. If a player voted in by the fans or players is unable to play I think the next player in that voting group gets the spot. That's how Marmol got in last year despite struggling at that point in the season.
  4. He may not get regular at-bats, but he'd be the Cubs' best pinch-hitter. He's providing what the Cubs hoped Hoffpauir would provide. He HAS to stay; it's a no-brainer. The correct move would be to give up on the silly notion that they need 12 pitchers and send Patton packing.
  5. It was already completed. Karl Malden completed the second. Maybe this is the start of a third.
  6. That's highly probable. I'm down by about 25 and out of pitching starts (he still has one remaining). Unless Haren pitches tomorrow like Harden did today I'm toast this week. You shouldn't be worried about me, though. The difference between 2nd vs. 3rd place is completely meaningless, since they play each other in the first round of the playoffs. It's 3rd vs. 4th place that's important.

  8. Or they could DL Patton with a phantom injury. I believe by then he will have been on the 25-man roster the required 90 days to satisfy the Rule 5 requirements. They could DL him for July and August, then bring him back for garbage duty when rosters expand in September.
  9. First we trade for Baker, now we sign Fossum. Hello dynasty. :D I remember when Fossum was actually a hot prospect for the Red Sox. It's not just the Cubs' prospects who turn into busts.
  10. Cubs are now 3-0 since Lou got tossed. Coincidence? I think not.
  11. My predictions for upcoming roster moves (barring any intervening trades): 1. When Aram is activated, Blanco goes down (Fox has CLEARLY won a spot on the team for now). 2. When Guzman is activated, Patton goes on the DL since he will have met the Rule V provisions. 3. When Johnson is activated, Fuld goes down. 4. When Miles is activated, I'm stumped (assuming Fox is still producing enough to force the Cubs to keep him up).
  12. Fox would have undoubtedly made it if he hadn't been promoted. I don't think he's complaining about missing it.
  13. Looks like karenmac came closest on the tie-breaker (2 days off on the date of Lou's first ejection). A few others were within a week.
  14. I don't know for sure, but it seems logical to me that you should be able to.
  15. Registrations seem to have slowed to a crawl. There are five spots still open. I'll give those who participated last year until the end of this weekend to register, then beginning Monday I'll start to fill remaining spots with people who express an interest. So far Prior4CyYoung and ELCABALLO45 have expressed an interest and are in line for the first two openings. Anybody else interested in participating should indicate so in this thread (potentially there could be three more openings for people who have not yet expressed an interest). I'd like to keep the league at 14 members, because that seems to be the ideal number for fantasy football (everybody would play everybody else exactly once that way), but it isn't necessary. What is necessary is that there's an even number of teams. Those who have not yet signed up from last year (not including Rocket, who already indicated he wasn't planning to participate this year) are Fighting CTs, Lone Star Legends, Pacman's Rain, Fat Nasty & the 45's, and neifi saved us!
  16. Exactly 100 HRs separating first place from last.
  17. That's the trick, finding players who will suck but not bad enough to be benched, released, or sent down.
  18. So far, so good. Of course, every week I'm in a close one, so that's an easy call. :) Within 10 points at the moment and equal in remaining pitching starts, so it could easily go either way. Interesting that Harang and Davis pitched against each other in real baseball and they were only one point apart; both had great outings.
  19. I'll be more than happy to trade you someone at the end of the year for prospects. I might just have to do that. My keeper list is probably going to include Brandon Webb, who is currently sporting -13 points for the season. And that -13 may wind up as his season total, since he may not return this year. A keeper with negative points for the year is the equivalent of a store paying you to take something. he may not return next year either. If he needs shoulder surgery I think he'd likely be out at least the first half of next year, if not all year. I believe he's supposed to be a free agent after this year. If so it may be a repeat of the situation with Ben Sheets this year (rehabilitating from surgery without being signed by anybody).

  21. I came close to dropping him earlier this year when he was struggling. I'm glad I just kept him on my bench for awhile instead, because he's been great lately.
  22. I'm now up to #137 with 262 points. All of my stiffs have positive points and 7 of my 10 stiffs have at least 20, led by Willy Taveras (62, tied for 6th "best" in baseball), Jason Kendall (52), and Bill Hall (39). Wang is still atop the leaderboard, now tied with Jimmy Rollins, at 70.
  23. Longest current winning streak in the league!
  24. Not one of my team's better weeks, but I barely pulled it out thanks to 2 good pitching performances for me and 1 not-so-good start for Brian. I'll take it, though; it gives me a 3-game lead for the last playoff spot in the East thanks to Raw and HBC both going down.
