  1. Bah. Doug Daszenzo's career ERA is 0.00.
  2. Nope. But they'd probably give us Michael Barrett. He was just outrighted to the minors, so he'd probably be available on the cheap.
  3. I'll take a second and third team to make it 14. I don't know if you meant that jokingly, but I don't believe in an owner having more than one team in the same league. There's still plenty of time before the draft for others to express interest.
  4. If Soto's out for any length of time, then the correct answer is catcher, which isn't provided as an option.
  5. I have to go with Elvis too. That may have to do with my musical tastes, which are more for classic rock and country than R & B.
  6. I've sent invitations by PM to ELCABALL045 and Prizefight. That's 12 members; 2 positions still open.
  7. I think you are right, and I do agree. However, 4 starts probably makes the most sense. There are 7 days in a week and 7 starts in a week. The all star week only has 4 days, thus 4 starts. Some teams might only have 5 starters, and as you pointed out, they may not all get a start that week. I think 4 makes even more sense than the 5 I mentioned. I agree with you that it's the equivalent of 7 for a full week since either way it's an average of 1 per day.
  8. I would have used Fox as a PH for Fontenot, then if he extended the inning use Soto as a PH for Hill. Get to extra innings (better still, win it in the 9th) and then worry about defensive alignment.
  9. I'd like to suggest having a lower pitching start limit (maybe 5) for the short week next week. Since no major league teams play more than 4 games, and some only play 3, not only will there not be any 2-start pitchers, but some pitchers won't even get 1 start. So a team could have 7 or 8 starting pitchers on their active roster and still not have 7 starts next week. I think that makes it too likely that the outcome of some games may be determined not by performance but by the luck of the draw with respect to who has a full complement of starts. That to me seems to be against the spirit of fantasy baseball. I'm not positive about this, but I believe we had a lower limit for All-Star week last year.
  10. Chris was handling this, and he seems to have disappeared again.
  11. This is true. But it's fun to have a discussion on a completely moot point. :) No argument there.
  12. Solution: Don't win any more games. Then players won't be running out of the dugout. :D
  13. This seems to have happened so suddenly, there probably wasn't time to get ANY pitcher (Hart or otherwise) up in time to start the game tonight.
  14. I brought up the Hamilton situation myself when a similar issue was raised a few weeks ago. I think the difference (and the reason Hamilton didn't have to go through waivers) is that Hamilton was still subject to Rule 5 restrictions, while with Patton we're talking about the Cubs keeping his rights without the restrictions. Different situation, so different rules. By now it's really a moot point anyway (it would have been very relevant a week or so ago). Since Patton has spend 90 days on the 25-man roster, he can be kept on the DL the rest of the year and the restrictions will have been met. So there would be absolutely no motivation for the Cubs to want to work out an arrangement with the Rockies anymore.
  15. Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb.
  16. That makes zero sense. It's almost automatically retroactive. Even if they don't THINK he'll be ready before 15 days from today there's no reason not to at least have the flexibility. If they made it retroactive to that date they couldn't recall Hart because he was on the roster July 3rd. They want Hart and they know it will be at least 15 days for Demp so they made it active from today. I wasn't aware of that rule concerning Hart. That makes a difference.
  17. Now cubs.com shows Z as tonight's starter. Dumb, dumb, dumb.
  18. Only 6 games before the ASB. Maybe, maybe not. If Demps needs more than the retroactive 15 day stint, then we may need to do something. I suspect he's thinking of the likelihood of the bullpen getting taxed the next couple of days. With Z pitching on short rest tonight and Hart pitching tomorrow they'll be lucky to average 5 innings per starter. So put Marshall in the rotation call up Fossum as a loogy put Hart at the end of the pen in Pattons old spot, even though Id prefer Stevens Send down Hoffpauir. Again, Marshall isn't ready to start since he pitched last night. That may be a longer-term solution, but not for the next couple of days.
  19. I also disagree with starting Z tonight. If Hart can't make it on time start Samarzidja. Messing up tonight's game may be unavoidable; no need to mess up tomorrow as well. Some times you need to look at the bigger picture even if it means sacrificing a game. The Cubs have been hot lately; they can afford to lose one game and still win the series 2-1.

  22. This isn't even being reported on cubs.com yet. They still show Dempster pitching tonight.
  23. As long as you're comitted to remaining active I don't think how long you've been an NSBB member is important. I'll send the registration information to ELCABALL045 and you by PM within the next day or so. That makes 12 members in the league. Still 2 more spots available.
