    Week 16

I'm developing a deep hatred of Justin Morneau.
  2. Is there another way to do it while still getting every team to play a balance schedule and leaving enough weeks for the playoffs? The championship round of the playoffs is currently 2 weeks. If it were changed to 1 week like the other playoff rounds that would even out for not counting All-Star week. It seems to me like we did that once 2 or 3 years ago.
  3. There's exactly one spot left (assuming Prizefight confirms that he's still interested; otherwise there would be two). I'll send you and IMB! the registration information by PM.

    Week 16

I outscored Don each of the past two weeks, so I think I have a realistic chance of winning. Chuck and Adam desperately need for at least one of Todd or me to lose this week.
  5. The good ole days of Wine and Rojas. :D
  6. As previously mentioned, Hamels isn't pitching; Blanton is instead. This is because of Saturday's rainout when Blanton only pitched a couple of innings before the postponement.
  7. I got my 3-game playoff cushion back. \:D/ I've gotten a lot of mileage over pitchers released by or passed over by other teams (Washburn, Feldman, Happ, etc.). I don't have what I consider a true #1 starter (Jackson probably comes closest, and perhaps Volquez when healthy), but I have several pitchers who have been #2 or 3 quality lately.
  8. You get the next spot, assuming one more person is interested to ensure an even number of teams (a Yahoo requirement for head-to-head leagues).
  9. Are you still interested? I know you got the PM I sent with the information, but you haven't registered yet. I'd like to get this wrapped up soon so we know we have a full league.
  10. I'm not sure it would have been retired just for Maddux, if he weren't sharing that honor with Jenkins. But it would have probably been seen as slighting Greg if it were retired for Jenkins but not him. He was better known as a Brave, but he certainly had several good years with the Cubs. No reason a player can't deserve to have his number retired by more than one team.
  11. Any truth to the rumor that it was actually Soriano that ate the apple in the Garden of Eden?
  12. That's because, relative to your entire life, it WAS yesterday. :D *Ducks*
  13. Shocking! Next somebody will say that an upside down 6 resembles a 9.
  14. No love for Todd Hundley? I'm shocked.
  15. It's much improved over the first part of the season. I think the Nats' announcers went overboard, though (I also was forced to watch the Nats' feed because they're considered my local team and thus the Cubs' feed was blacked out on Extra Innings).
  16. Neither did I. I assumed teams could substitute at will.
  17. That isn't quite true. He wasn't CONSISTENTLY at that level after leaving the Cubs, but he did win two more batting titles with Pittsburgh (1981 and 1983).
  18. In fairness to Hoffpauir, he was a bit of a late bloomer but is only 29 right now so it's not like he is some old guy they finally decided to promote. Even Bobby Scales is only 31. I'm sure it's a typo and he meant late 20s. Chances are a player would be released and out of baseball before he hits late 30s if he hasn't been called up yet.
  19. Actually he STILL hasn't been elected to the Hall. And yes, that is an inexcusable snub.
  20. Congrats on the future Roadkill member. :D
  21. That's my lingering memory from the game.
  22. Thanks SweetPete, those are all good selections but I'm suprised B.W. wasn't added to the squad...although I don't know what his stats were in the first half of '71. 1970 and 1972 were his best Cub seasons. I've always believed he really should have won the MVP award at least one of those seasons. 1971 was good, but not as good as 1970 or 1972.
  23. Is it fair to point out that if I would have actually remembered to use all 7 starts I had this week I would have gotten the high score? :) Coulda, shoulda, woulda. :P
  24. I'll watch it. I'll read or something else while watching it, so it won't be throwing away time.
  25. This is the last week of interdivisional play. Next week starts rematches within the divisions.
