  1. No to Fox playing third. They need to catch him; Hill needs a day off. Fontenot and Baker at second and third.
  2. I wasn't on NSBB during the game. I was just occasionally taking a break from the game and reading the chat discussion. You should get to do the honors yourself as a belated birthday present. :D
  3. Serves the Brewers right for playing a college basketball coach in a baseball game. :D
  4. I see that my trash (Hardy) is Todd's treasure. :D
  5. Shark's almost certainly going back to Iowa on Tuesday when Gorz is called up. The only other choice would be Stevens, and he's clearly outpitched Shark.
  6. Bailey and Cueto may as well go ahead and schedule appointments for next year with Dr. Andrews.
  7. Looking through the rosters, I'm sorta under the impression that the talent pool will be way better this coming offseason. I see some teams that are probably going to have to drop a lot of guys due to teams being at the cap. In other words, I don't see a lot of teams with cap space. A few more perfect games from pitchers that aren't mine would be terrific! :D That's partly why I don't mind Volquez being out for the rest of the year. It will keep him from accumulating any more points against the cap.
  8. So this is the final order, or this is the order up until now? I think it's the final order. I recall some earlier discussion about basing the order on the standings at the trade deadline rather than the end of the season so non-contenders don't have an incentive to lose intentionally in order to improve their draft positions.
  9. Since I've traded away my first two odd-round picks I look at it more as being #5. :D
  10. Volquez is undergoing elbow surgery Monday and is likely done for the season. It wasn't reported whether the surgery is TJS, so it's not yet known whether he'll also be out some or most of next year. At least he'll be a cheap keeper (although not as cheap as it seems like Webb will be for Brian).
  11. Except that it's not a myth. The Cubs getting swept in the first round last year and the Cardinals winning it all in 2006 prove it.
  12. Agreed it is the worst move in since brock. Letting Greg Maddux walk in his prime was peanuts compared to the awesome power of a 35 year old middle infielder in the final year of his deal who was coming off a career year. seriously? this has to be a joke Yes, it is an obvious joke.
  13. I like the additions of Young, Marquis, and potentially Norris to my team. Young should be an upgrade from Jeckyl-and-Hyde Hardy, Marquis is assured of remaining in his team's rotation while Happ is not with Lee and Martinez joining the Phillies, and I might promote Norris sooner rather than later if he looks good in his first few starts and Harang continues to suck. Add that to my earlier trade for Cabrera and I think I've improved my team nicely. I just have to hold off Adam for the third playoff spot in the East (I'm not as cocky about it as I was a few weeks ago).
  14. Don't worry, I didn't add them. :D
  15. Everyone can give up now. I have Jason Marquis. :D
  16. The White Sox game has been rescheduled too. It's Sept. 3.
  17. Maybe there's a club policy against twittering. :D
  18. My thoughts exactly. I'd be happy to have to face Peavy, or anybody else for that matter, in the Series.
  19. The irony of this is that tomorrow is a Victor Martinez bobblehead giveaway at the Indians game. :D
  20. Why? Why not? Because the last thing the Cubs need is another starting pitcher, especially one with a big contract.
  21. Because Dusty has a veteran fetish and he refuses to admit they're out of it.
  22. Unless the trade was actually agreed to by the deadline and simply awaiting approval from the commissioner it ain't happening. Halladay would not clear waivers.
  23. It is possible to trade players while they are on the DL. Freel was on the Orioles' DL when they traded him to the Cubs.
  24. Your point? I'm not condemning him, I just don't think we should be giving him the "atta-boys" and patting him on the back for coming out and admitting this when there is a good chance his name would have been released anyway. Like I said above, I would have done the exact same thing if I were in his place. The point is you said he cheated when in fact he didn't since the substance wasn't banned at the time.
  25. I got them all in just over 2:30. :P
