  1. Castillo gets 30 days in the slammer and 3 years' probation. http://www.myembarq.com/news/read.php?id=17205900&ps=972%2C922&srce=news_class&action=2&lang=en&_LT=HOME_BANWR00L2_UNEWS
  2. You're a year late for this thread. :D
  3. You'd be well advised to pay more attention in the future before you falsely accuse someone of making a personal attack against you.
  4. Well according to Bill Hall, Bill Hall is the best 3rd baseman in the league That settles it then.
  5. Exactly who I figured it was from your comment.
  6. That's what I thought too.
  7. So Fuld has a stay of execution until Friday. When Soto's activated either Fuld or Hoffpauir goes down.
  8. I think 3 more starts so 2 weeks or so? I think 2 more starts. At the time of the injury it was said he was expected to miss 4 starts total, and I believe he's already missed 2 of those.
  9. Look three posts above yours. :D
  10. How? 6 starts in AA, 3 starts in AAA, 19 starts in the majors, 167 pro innings which was 30+ more innings than he threw the year before, at the age of 21. He was in the major leagues less than a year after he was drafted. Threw 124 pitches in his 4th major league start, and had 7 outings with more than 110 pitches, including 4 in a row that ended with a 135 pitch outing. He had only 5 outings under 100 pitches. He finished the year on the DL, in what could be construed as protecting him, but he was hardly babied that year. He was thrown into the fire with a lame duck manager and then an interim moron that was more concerned about trying to win the job than the longterm healt of the franchise. I was thinking of how they shut him down for about the last month of the season (if I recall they put him on the DL with a groin injury that really wouldn't have kept him out that long under normal circumstances).
  11. If he looked at 2002 and nothing after that he'd be right.
  12. The Cubs are quite capable of beating themselves, but yu're taking it a bit too literal. :D
  13. Friday makes more sense to me than having him fly to Cincinnati for just one game before going to Denver. Hill definitely needs some rest, but as much as he's played he can make it for one more game.
  14. As a former Waukegan resident myself I can assure you that you spelled it correctly.

    Week 18

Teahen is now in my lineup at 3B because Zimmerman is out at least tonight with a sore shoulder and is listed as day-to-day.
  16. Based on his IP address and registration e-mail address it's more likely he's a Brewers troll.
  17. This isn't personal ranking, this is where I think they stand in the voting, and Happ seems to be getting more press, but that may change (and I could easily be wrong). Its really going to come down to which one of Happ/Wells finishes stronger. I don't think McCutchen or any of the other batters are going to do enough to really merit strong consideration and Hanson is already behind in wins, IP, K, ERA, whatever and probably won't be able to do enough, without going on some ridiculous run, to win. I wonder if the only reason that Haap is getting more press is strictly because of Halladay and the whole trade rumors. Honestly, before that no one was talking about Haap at all. Now that those are over and the Phillies have Cliff Lee I figure Haap hype will end. Since we will be in a battle with the Cards I figure up until the very end, I figure Wells will get much more pub. Happ may not even have a spot in the Phillies' rotation much longer. There's speculation that he might be odd man out when Pedro Martinez is activated.
  18. You know damn well that's not true. There's always PLENTY of chance that a team IN FIRST PLACE will make the playoffs. I'd save your fingers the work trying to argue that. You aren't going to get anywhere with this one. I know. I'm done feeding the troll.
  19. I thought I read somewhere that Geo might be in tomorrow night's starting lineup. Did anyone else see that? Lou was at least hinting at the possibility. I don't remember specifically where I read it, but it was definitely mentioned as a possibility. everything i've read has indicated he'd join the team Thursday in Denver. he's supposed to be catching 7 innings for Tennessee tonight, unless something has changed. I think it's this Trib article that started speculation of an earlier return. It's by Paul Sullivan, though, so consider the source.

  21. Take a look at the standings. You should know better than to say that a team that's currently tied for first place (and two games ahead in the loss column) can't make the playoffs. He's pretty clearly a troll. Modzilla may have some lunch.. I'm not sure if he's a troll or a pessimist so extreme that badnews looks like an optimist in comparison.
  22. Take a look at the standings. You should know better than to say that a team that's currently tied for first place (and two games ahead in the loss column) can't make the playoffs. The standings? Right now? You mean the ones that don't mean anything? Even if by some miracle we pass the Cardinals, who also suck but lucked out with Pineiro and Holliday, we will get swept out of the playoffs like we do every year. You didn't say we'd get swept in the playoffs, though; you said we wouldn't make the playoffs. And you definitely can't say that with any certainty at this point.
