  1. Except Downs recently went back on the DL after aggravating his earlier toe injury.
  2. Any chance at all he'd make it through waivers? He's really cheap and really good... I'd say close to zero chance.
  3. That wasn't possible based on when he started his rehab assignment. In fact, I think they waited as long as they possibly could before they brought him back. They could keep him on the DL, they just couldn't continue the rehab assignment. Another possibility has come to my mind, though. Perhaps Blanco or Baker will conveniently become "injured" and get placed on the DL, to be acivated when rosters expand in September. That would avoid the need to send anybody down.
  4. If Hendry refuses to admit signing Miles was a mistake they at least need to keep him on the DL until rosters expand. That would make sending Baker down or exposing Blanco to waivers unnecessary.
  5. Yes. He went back down the day after his second outing for the Cubs. Sam Fuld came back up.
  6. I see no point of rushing him back by Wednesday. It would be only one more start for Hill and Thursday is a day off. Friday is the ideal time for Soto to return.

    Week 18

It's now official that Webb will wind up the season with negative points. He underwent shoulder surgery today and is out for the year.
  8. They don't have Washburn anymore to re-sign. They traded him to the Tigers last week.IIRC, there was a comment in the newspapers that said they intended to re-sign him after he becomes a free agent. I hadn't seen that; it's certainly possible. I wonder if making a public comment like that right after trading him would be tampering, though. It could make one wonder if they had a gentlemen's agreement with him before trading him.

  10. I think it's Samardzija. It's really a no-brainer. Stevens has completely outpitched him, and it would allow Shark to stretch out as a starter again. Of course, we are talking about the Cubs, so I should probably say it SHOULD be a no-brainer.
  11. Update: Volquez did undergo TJS and will miss most of 2010.
  12. We're famous! \:D/

    Week 18

Another case of my trash being someone else's treasure. :D
  14. Maybe that's really Lou's way of challenging the rest of the relievers (I'm especially looking at you, Aaron Heilman and Kevin Gregg). I just don't see anything good coming out of using Zambrano as a reliever.
  15. That's because it's Hendry's fault he didn't hire a hit man to take out Angelos and make it MacPhail's decision. :D
  16. Second week in a row I've lost by more than 100 points. Last week I had one of the highest scores in the league but was unfortunately up against the top single week of the year. This week my team just plain sucked. Kevin Gregg didn't help me any. Neither did having Feldman in my lineup for his negative 23 point start but on the bench for his positive 22 point start. I really need to turn my fortunes back around again starting next week; hopefully having my new players for the entire week will help.
  17. He needs at least a day or so off from closing duties after crapping the bed two days in a row, even if it's just to let him catch his breath mentally.
  18. got to add Beckett, just turned 29 - 3.27 Adam Wainwright 2.80 ERA, age 27 Bud Norris, 0.00 ERA, age 24. he gave up a run to the Cubs last week Yep; I forgot about that relief outing. 0.90 ERA; still not too shabby.
  19. Using Heilman in the 7th with a 1-run lead. Good job, Lou.
  20. I know he was the Pirates' backup catcher for at least a couple of years (behind Paulino) before he became the starter. Once upon a time I thought I was set at catcher with Paulino.
  21. Rolen left today's game after being hit in the helmet by Jason Marquis.

  23. OK, I sent Wrigley23 packing (along with his most common IP address) but left Badnews around if you think you can salvage him.
  24. Cubs_Clippers1 loves him though Dude'sUndeniaby Smarter Than You
  25. They know ASL? They're multi-talented. I wonder if they can sing as well as they sign. :D
