  1. god I hope you are kidding for our benefit, I see nothing wrong with the idea nice hit corey
  2. Well, he won't have much of a choice. This was his "try out" year. He was auditioning for other teams. Not much of an audition though. He'll have to take what we offer unless some team is willing to take a huge gamble on him. I say offer him another 1 year deal not worth more than 3 or 3.5 mil. see: Ordonez, Magglio And see how many games Magglio has missed this year. Plus, I doubt the Tigers are really happy with that decision right now. They paid too much. And I might be wrong, but he wasn't coming off of two consecutive injury riddled seasons. If we can get him for cheap, I say do it. If someone is willing to pay more, we have Cedeno to go for us, or we have freed up money to burn on someone else. i totally agree with you. now if we could get Dusty on the Cedeno wagn

  4. WE HAVE A CONTACT/AVE HITTER IN mURTON, IF dUSTY PLAYS HIM
  5. If he can't make it here, then he's a commodity that can be sent to the teams that can use him. Why do you want Welly cut from the organization, yet clamor for Rueter to be signed? What can the Cubs get for him?? Seriously? Could catch lightning in a bottle w/ Reuter. At least he's had success in the majors, and can't be much worse than Hill, Mitre or Welly. Not by himself, using him as part of a package he's a valuable component. Besides, he's not taking anyone's space that's needed before the end of the season, no need to be wasteful by cutting him. Rueter has been terrible. We're better off seeing what we have in Rusch/Hill/Mitre/Welly/etc. than hoping to get 4 good starts out of a guy who never had good stuff whose age is catching up to him. I'll give Rusch a shot. The other 3 shouldn't be starting in a wildcard chase. WHAT? did you see what Rusch did tonite???????
  6. Release Wellemeyer. No loss @ all. Majorly disagree. raisin, what do you see in Welle? He has the pitches to be a bottom of the order starter - he posted an ERA of 3 at AAA in 11 starts this year. He could also be a good set-up man. The Cubs need to give him a proper role and not dust him off once every week in blow outs. I dont mean to pick a bone with you, but I dont see it. lower to mid 90's fastball, ok slider, changup...and limited success at AAA. it seems like every time he gets called up his head implodes and he cant find the strikezone. do you think he needs to start? He needs regular playing time to succeed. He doesn't get it in the big leagues (except for about two weeks in May) and that's why I think he struggles more with his control in the big leagues. He gets proper playing time in the minors and does well. was my assesment on his pitches correct? I reeally dont know anything about him other then the occasional call up for these types of games, then he disappears to Iowa. I'd say his changeup is better than ok, but otherwise, I think you're right. I think those 3 pitches are enough to get by as a competent #5 starter in this day and age. I can see the desire to want to see Mitre, Welle, Hill over Glendon. I just never really thought of Welle as a starter. I rreeealllly think Rusch is reverting to pre-Cub Glendon.........bad bad bbbbbbbbbaaaaaaaaaddddddd

  11. wrong. we'll get burny and macias murton plays too well for Baker
  12. Reuter and someone from Double A. Sisco..er umm..Guzman..er um..O screw them all........... Isnt Sisco with Royals? ... and Guzman is injured. that was my point, the pithers we have or had w/potential are unavailible....
  13. in 6 innings, the Cubs pitchers have thrown 152 pitches jeezus
  14. He needs some time off. He's really out of it. he needs time off this team..PERMANTLY
  15. Reuter and someone from Double A. Sisco..er umm..Guzman..er um..O screw them all...........
  16. wow. we are seriously padding some batting averages here. Taveras is 4 for 4 already IN THE 5TH INNING.
  17. nomaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!! on a roll!
  18. I missed what happened to murtons first at bat.. and did we fire dusty because this lineup is half way decent
  19. 8 innnings 123/85 strikes
  20. I'm going to have to disagree with you. Take a look at the pic and tell me Nomar wasn't pretty well put together. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/features/cover/2002/jinx/00s/030501lg.jpg Sorry, but that body isn't that big. Granted, everyones bodies are different that body can be easily had by working out. He isn't ripped by any means. Ripped has nothing to do with size. Ripped is referring to how well defined the muscle tone is. If you mean he wasn't huge, fine, but that picture shows he was in fact "ripped". I think if you look at him now compared to when he was at his best, he is noticeably smaller. I'm a big fan of Nomar and want to see him produce as much as anybody, but you have to look at the injuries and fall off in #'s and consider that steroids may have been a part of that. I'm not making any definitive statement that he took steroids, I just don't think it can be ruled out. I must be missing something. I dont ever remember Nomar being very big, he has always been kinda scrawny to me.
  21. WHATS SO GREAT ABOUT WELLY? NOT TO PICK FIGHTS, BUT WHAT ABOUT HIM DO PEEPS THINK WILL MAKE A GOOD STARTER? FASTBALL, SLIDER, ETC?
