  1. now from the Minor Leagues forum, Guzman is pitching again. how does HE change the 2006 rotation? Prior Z Wood Williams GUZMAN???? Maddux to the pen??? or do we package Williams for a bat w/maddux in the rotation??
  2. Agreed. Nomar coming to 80% of his form would be a terrific boost, but I think Corey is the more important player. He provides power, defense and speed. Nomar would be a boost more to Lee and Aramis' task of driving in runs, wheras if Corey got going, it would be like having 2 leadoff guys in the lineup. if Corey got going i would be a happy happy pappy
  3. o goody goody goody goody goody goody goody
  4. cool. thanks kind sir. a buddy called and says "Dude, we're in the Series!!" I thought they were talking about the Cubs winning today. he was talking about CP. its still kinda cool considering CP is about 4000 people
  5. I'm not so sure. If Patterson gets on a roll, and Pie hits 260/320, we could afford a Murton in LF. Now if for some crazy reason Sing gets a call up and hits the street running, or Huff is delivered to our doorsteps, we could have a very productive and young OF You want Pie, Patterson, and Murton as your OF next year  ? That's got 4th place written all over it. Sorry, but that would be just terrible. A career dead-ender in RF (cory), a young and not ready CF in Pie, and a AAA player in LF in Murton who will come back to earth (even though he really hasn't flown very high in the first place). That's even worse than what we left camp with this year. Please tell me you were just kidding. I'm not. I dont see Patterson as a "career dead-ender", and for Pie, it might be a jump, but I would accept it. Murton is the iffy part, but as I stated, Huff (or perhaps even Floyd via trade) would make a very nice addition. that would make Pie/Patterson 2/3 of our OF, which you seem terrified of. Yes, I am terrified of that. And frankly, you ought to be as well if you wish to see a successful 2006 season... not at all. I guess my outlook is with the free agent class, Giles is the only real legimate choice we have baring a trade. I wouldnt have a problem with a bat like Giles/Huff/Floyd and Pie/Patterson rounding out the OF. I really wouldnt. I think they could produce at bat and in the Field, well, minus Giles in the field
  6. anyone have any ideas where I can get some info on the LLWS games? I guess the town I live in is playing in the playoffs-Circle Pines, MN
  7. what he said
  8. I dont think the man knows how to pitch, much less when and what to pitch, anymore now then if he ever did.

  10. I guess my worry is they might just come damn close, only to fail, which means we will see them next year.....

  12. I expressed this fear in the game thread.
  13. that was horrible i pray for both of those guys...man. looks like they will recover........ as for the mets, lets hope not....
  14. I'll feel better if the Cubs happened to sweep the Cards in this series, but I wouldn't get optimistic unless we strung some amazing win streak together - like the 15 games back in 2001. That, or it's a 3-game deficit in the WC for us with a series vs. Houston. I think that streak was more like 11 games. nope. 15 I think
  15. I have a deep fear that the success of this line up may push Dusty to try it again and again and again. and worse, we start winning alot with it. we end up just missing the playoffs, bu its enough for Hendry to bring Macias, perez, dutchvalue, etc back next year. someone slpa me, I am haviing a nightmare :willynilly:
  16. My thoughts too. maddux up 2 and 3. so you fail you got 1 and 3 with 2 outs and still got a chance to score a run. You guys know Dusty doesn't squeeze, right? He's said on numerous occasions that he doesn't believe in it. Yeah i know :( Probably doesnt like it because when he was up and the manager called that play he felt 'slighted'. 'What you dont have confidence in me' BS I thought I heard he didnt like it because he feared the batter missing the sign and swinging into the runner from 3rd, knocking him out...... whatta I know....
  17. UMM...GUYS..WHATS A "L-E-A-D"? RONNIE JUST SAID WE GOT ONE....

Just consider it part of the enjoyment that is the game thread. my sinc. appologies. work gets in the way of real life (the Cubs) too much
