  1. Randy Wells' FIP this year was 5.11 and his xFIP was 4.44. He's been worth .2 wins this season. His BABIP is actually .275 which means he's actually been luckier than normal. Wells has been terrible this year, and even if he was halfway decent, he still doesn't quite compare to the talent level that Nolasco has. Nolasco is kind of the exact pitcher we should look to acquire to help rebuild the rotation with what we can all assume is the inevitable departure of Zambrano, if the Marlins are willing to move him for the right price, of course. And if the Cubs, for whatever reason, decide to bring Pena back and not pursue Fielder or Pujols, that will save them plenty of money to also tackle Wilson's contract as well if they choose to pursue him. A rotation of: Wilson Garza Nolasco Dempster Cashner Would be a pretty damn fine rotation Wilson would be a huge land, I dont think it would happen
  2. that's not what he said erikbum
  3. we really should handle Carolina. If we dont, it will implicate a bad downhill slide for us and likely mean we are playing for "draft position".
  4. he threw the flag WELL after they had separated. and besides, the only image that looks anything like a hold is the very last one, so it couldn't have been very blatant or lasted longer then a split second. If Woodson can trip over his own damn two feet and completely impede Hester, then I would think they could overlook a slight tug on the shoulder pad of two guys running down the field at full speed. Especially when the pursuer isn't running in any direction that would indicate he is headed towards the ball.
  5. ohhhhhhhhhh god dammit we finally get a coach worth 1/2 his salt and he has to have terrible health issues. I cant believe it, but I'm pinning for the Glen Mason days
  6. 13 YARDS RUSHING and Cutler had 11 of those
  7. you didn't think we were pissed about it? where were you? yea, we are analyzing the punt return harder, but only because it is being dismissed as a pointless play that "didnt matter". The Woodson molestation was pretty universally accepted as that. In the heat of the moment that call I saw the anger towards it but all the complaining about the call seemed to be more focused on the punt. Maybe I misinterpreted. Its anger that Woodson gets away with a blatant PI, and Graham gets called for a hold no one can verify. Both had bad consequences for the Bears in regards to points. For me, the inconsistency of the officiating is maddening. If your going to "let them play", then let them play. That, or call everything that might be close.

  9. Will do whoever you are. haha! that's rich coming from a message board avatar Uh...he has more posts than you do, man. I also have 4 years on him. but neither issues are my point, or well, joke.

  11. I was thinking about this too. Toub could set this up exactly the same, only have Hester actually field it. Since Knox and Co have tricked one team, they would have to cover both. right? The only catch is that the punt team should KNOW which direction the punt is going. Thats why it was so brilliant. GB KNEW where the punt would go, and still allowed the Bears return team dictate their coverage in a very lopsided way to the wrong side of the field. Thats the power of Hester as a return guy, and Toub using his head. Run it again, and the coverage team will just run right at Knox because thats where they kicked the ball (and know they kicked it).
  12. I had totally forgot about this. was he on that SB team? I'm about 99% sure of this.

  14. yea. an NFL game is JUST like a lottery ticket. they should just hand NE the trophy now, there's no point in playing the games. I think you might have missed the point, just a tad. I got his point, but it is stupid to try and argue that the Bears had that opportunity when they didn't.

  16. Right but your asking for a recovered onside kick with receivers who have showed bad hands for a lot of the game, the offensive line to hold up(which they did most of the game but still) and for Cutler to throw accurate passes most of the game. I mean the Bears longest play in the 2nd half was 6 plays. I just don't see how the Bears would have tied or won that game given what was taken place in the game. Too me it's just people complaining that the Bears didn't win by 3 instead of 10. again: SHANE MATTHEWS. its been done.
  17. there were 51 seconds left when Knox scored, putting the Bears down by 3. That isn't impossible http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011092511/2011/REG3/packers@bears#menu=highlights&tab=analyze&analyze=playbyplay
  18. Please prove that those two games exist. http://www.bearshistory.com/seasons/2001chicagobears.aspx SF Game: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200110280chi.htm CLev Game: http://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/200111040chi.htm
  19. it wouldn't have been as big a deal to me if Hester wasn't illegally mauled by Woodson earlier. its just adds insult to injury really. Besides, there still would have been some time on the clock for an onside kick. For those of us older then 5, we can remember the Bears pulling off two victories in row that were that tight in regards to time left. To say it didnt matter isn't really true
  20. lol. that pumpkin beer must be really good if it effects your thinking that way. maybe I should try it.
  21. Guys on the punt coverage team get hit running down the field all the time. hell, the outside cover guys get thrown off the field by 2 blockers 1/2 the time. That call is just completely bs.
  22. I'm confused http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=312670201
  23. My guess is they probably set up for it quite a bit, but there's not too many punts that it will actually work out perfectly like that. I bet if you go back and look at tape over the last couple of weeks, the Bears did try it but the kicking team was, you know, paying attention. And not being held on the way down the field if the GB guy had turned towards Knox and was being held, that would be one thing. But he was running completely away from the ball towards Hester. Graham has his hand on his shoulder pad running down the field. The GB guy turns away from Knox who has the ball and Graham completely separates from him. Where is the hold?
  24. SP players run down the filed all day long with a hand on the other guy, that isn't a hold. Its not like Graham altered the direction of the GB player.
