  1. Played soccer all my life. Had a teammate tear it in U-14, high school, spring soccer in high school and in college.
  2. Unfortunately not. There are roughly 7-10 CF's available in the draft better than Span. Meanwhile Price could have probably fetched a 3rd rd pick due to his upside and exemption status.
  3. I feel even worse after getting home and watching the replay on DVR. From the handful of times I have seen teammates tear an ACL and the dozens of times I have seen it on TV I would say I'm pretty sure that is what it is. He didn't go down right away which normally a twisted or hyper extended knee will make you do. He tried to walk it off, realized he had no strength on the leg and sat down. Ugggh.
  4. I'm not sure how you can say that. Durant's one of the best scorers in the league. Depends on team needs I would say. Roy is more like DWade in that he is a PG who scores basically. Durant is more Kobe in that he doesn't bring the ball up much and just creates in the half court. They are similar players but not the same. Given a choice I would take Durant though as I think Roy's ceiling is a great player but clearly not in the best conversation while Durant's ceiling is as high as anyone's can get if your name isn't LeBron.
  5. I would obviously rather have the loss and Hummel healthy. Sure we got Moore and Johnson but depth was never the strength of the team. We have no replacement for Hummel. I would say we could replace Moore but moving Grant to SG and LewJack starting but we have no one to replace Hummel or Johnson. We may be able to get into sweet 16 without him but nothing past that.
  6. I do not like what I just read on ESPN about Hummel. They said he hurt his knee driving. He tried to get up but was unable to put any weight on it. Sounds exactly like ACL. When you tear it you don't have too much pain but the leg just has no strength. Its very common to see players try to get up after the injury but find out they can't put any weight on the leg.
  7. In that case... Pur-don't. Don't be mad at me because I won't trade you my 2nd rd pick or that your team sucks (talking about NSBB Premier League not the Cubs). My team is setting up nicely. For me to poop on.
  8. The injury itself didn't look too violent, not that I'm a doctor or anything. He's currently sitting on the bench, I'm optimistic he'll be back before the season is over...Hopefully he can be a leader from the bench for now. Yet another Purdue fan on the board or is this someone just changing their name? Our season is still pretty shot if he is out for any more than a game or two. If he is out we lose to Michigan State and lose the Big Ten. That costs us a 1 seed. If he is then still out for the Big Ten Tourney our best would be semi-finals which costs us a 2 seed. If he then comes back he would likely be rusty and I wouldn't like our chances past the first round being a 3 or 4 seed.
  9. Any word on Hummel? I can't watch the game so I have no idea what is happening. If he is out our season is toast which is by far the worst way for a season to go. I would rather be a bubble team that misses the cut than a team who has title hopes in position for a 1 seed that has a star player get hurt and the season is lost.
  10. Not sure I believe it as he said that there have been no talks. I think if talks were initiated his tune would probably change. He said he doesn't think there would be a domino effect which I think is pretty naive. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4943237 I'm guessing the Big Ten women's soccer coaches put the kibosh on inviting Texas. What reincarnation are you. Making comments like that with only 100 posts. You must be a banned person.
  11. In that case... Pur-don't. Don't be mad at me because I won't trade you my 2nd rd pick or that your team sucks (talking about NSBB Premier League not the Cubs).
  12. I like this thread. I will say the insult contests on NSBB are what makes it the best. Oh and I'm talking about the fun-hearted not evil spirited insults.
  13. So if Purdue wins tonight they essentially lock up a tie for Big Ten Champion. They could lose to Michigan State and still tie with them and Ohio State. I need to look up who would win that tie breaker though as Purdue, in that scenario, would have split with both teams. EDIT: I believe it would be OSU followed by Purdue. Big Ten site says its win percentage against teams in tie and OSU beat MSU in the only time they play this year. So OSU would be 2-1, Purdue 2-2 and MSU 1-2.
  14. I think you're missing the point. It's not sexual harassment because he said she looks like crap -- it's sexual harassment because of the comments he made about the "way" she dresses, implying that it was too sexy for her age. He didn't just say "her clothes are not work appropriate" as you suggest. There is a double-standard, but that's in part because a lot of guys just don't care. If some female SVP in my company publicly announced that my pants were "way too tight," for example, (and they were appropriate for work), it could be construed as harassment. Ah. I thought you were saying any comment on how a woman dresses is sexual harassment. I do think that an employer should be able to say pants or what have you are too tight whether male or female. It's their business and they can run it how they want. For instance if a man or woman were to show up to a business wearing leather pants I would, as an employer, tell them to go home and change. Other employees shouldn't make comments about being too tight or sexy though unless it is to say it violates the dress code.
  15. Apparently Texas is out. Not sure I believe it as he said that there have been no talks. I think if talks were initiated his tune would probably change. He said he doesn't think there would be a domino effect which I think is pretty naive. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=4943237
  16. Yep although my only Cub was Theriot.
  17. What the hell do bermuda shorts have to do with anything? She's been wearing that crap for a long time and obviously would not have been allowed on air if it violated dress codes. Women in the professional world where that style of clothing all the time. If you believe that to true, this is just a stand still. I still believe that she is not dressing professionally. I believe that ESPN has a double standard in dress code. If that is the case they should not be upset when someone like KT comments about it. Regardless of your conservative definition of dressing professionally, commenting on clothing is a direct breach of sexual harrassment policies. You mean the double standard and sexist sexual harassment policies. If someone looks like crap male or female they look like crap and saying they look like crap isn't sexual harassment. If a guy were to walk in not wearing a suit he would be told to put a suit on. If a woman wears a short skirt and knee high boots the same should be done. Neither or sexual harassment. They are people not dressing appropriately for their job.
  18. This. TK went overboard but the overall point was correct. It was hideous and an anchor shouldn't be wearing anything like that.
  19. This team looks like it will collapse under late season pressure just like last season. :blackeye: Ugh don't remind me. I was in 1st in the power rankings for many weeks in a row and was in the top 3 for both pitching and hitting. I think I finished around 6-8 in both. Team just completely and utterly blew up and collapsed.
  20. Berman is crap. He was/is a hack which is bad enough but I had a class (I think Andy was in it) that a hot female who interned at ESPN spoke in. She said every day Berman would pull up in his sports car and ask her to go back to his place. If I remember correctly she said 2/3's of the male hosts were like that.
  21. According to SportsbyBrooks, ESPN doesn't have the authority to suspend him from his radio show (Dan Snyder owns the station it airs on, and it's merely affiliated with ESPN). It's also been announced that Kornheiser has been banned from criticizing any ESPN employee for any reason on any outlet in the future. TK's contract is up soon and it's rumored that this massive overreaction is to gain leverage in talks on a new deal. ESPN would be stupid to low ball Tony. About the only reasonably intelligent sports show they have on that network is Him and Wilbon. I think PTI's ratings would take a huge long term hit without TK I really hate TK because I think he is wrong and doesn't know much about sports but agree with both points. PTI is the only show I care to watch anymore and if TK goes the ratings would plummet.
  22. Well Soto is one of the best catchers, Jeter is one of the best short stops, Manny is one of the best batters period and DLee is a very good 1B. I then have a very promising 2B in Cabrera and Jay Bruce is a high potential player. Like you said I have pitching done so I will fill all my other batting positions and with a 2nd rd pick, two 3rd rders and two 4th rders I am confident my batting will be top 5 at the least. As far as my pitching I love it. I got proven vets who aren't over 30 and thus shouldn't break down pared with young guys who are known for power pitching and loads of potential. I would think I should run away with the SO stat.
  23. Got to say I love my chances this season with my latest trade. I regreted trading for Quentin as soon as I made the trade this offseason. I made the mistake of accepting the trade without doing all my research first. I hadn't realized how bad he was before his one great year. He seems very much a great power hitter with out much else. He doesn't walk much except in the one year and his average even in the great year was, not to be redundant, average. I get to grab DLee who is the last of the real good 1B and keep my 2nd rd pick that is just 9 picks later. Quentin was already a backup I would have to use up the utility spot for and now I am given much more freedom and can take an OF when I want. I would say there is a good chance that at No. 23 there will be a OF of better/equal value as Quentin available (not that I am set on taking OF). So that basically means that I traded a 12th rd pick to move up 9 spots and get the last great 1B who happens to be in a contract year. BTW this is not to say that the trade was bad for SoCal, just that he could have gotten more.
  24. Still leading after 6 1/2 minutes being scoreless. I would take that as a good sign.
