  1. I hate stuff like this. I want the minor leaguers to get their shot and we'll see if their potential comes to fruition but I don't want to see them wasting their time riding the pine in the bigs when they could be perfecting their craft in AAA as an everyday player.
  2. I got that when he posted earlier. I was just voicing annoyance at Dexter's OSU almost losing to Michigan post. but they did and it has nothing or very little to do with a 15 seed's possibility of beating OSU
  3. Time for some Scola love. He had 44 pts tonight. I would have been willing to bet he would never have a 40 pt game. He just isn't a flashy guy who takes enough shots to do it. He has been absolutely terrorizing the last five games. With this game he is averaging 26 and 15 in that span. The 44 pts obviously skews it a bit but in those five games he has score 20+ in four and in the one game he failed to do so he scored 19. He also have a double-double in every game and has three games with 15+ rebounds including a 21 rebound performance. I would say Scola is a very early POTM candidate.

  5. Uh Ohio State won't lose to a 15 seed ohio state needed a miracle 3 to beat michigan yesterday Because big conference teams with lots of talent but always underachieve get 15 seeds? The 15 seeds will be the craptastic small conference tournament champs that have no where near the potential and talent a Michigan has.
  6. Uh Ohio State won't lose to a 15 seed and Michigan State likely won't lose to a 13 seed.
  7. :flame: I'm the guy on the left.
  8. wtf are you talking about? ??? Umm I'm talking about Merlin Olsen being one of the best players in NFL history. How huge is your "best" list? 10-20 guys. Merlin Olsen is in the conversation for best player along with Rice and others.
  9. Correct it was 35 feet away. Congrats you've now said it twice. Problem is that doesn't mean Michigan played good defense. They had four defenders defending two guys by the hoop and left the best player in the country by himself. With only 2.2 seconds left unless the offensive player gets a running start he won't be able to get to mid-court. If they had a guy on Turner he likely would have had to put up a 50 foot shot without being able to get set making it a much much less probable shot. Giving a guy like Turner an unimpeded 35 foot shot is playing with fire and a player of his caliber will make it a decent amount of the time.
  10. When there's 2.2 seconds left and Turner catches the ball around the 3 point line in the backcourt, you can probably do better than forcing a shot from the volleyball line. If you don't have anyone on the floor that can stop Turner's dribble, then you need to double him and leave the inbound passer alone. The thing was they did leave the inbound passer alone. And Turner. Michigan had 4 guys behind the defensive FT line when the play began. Yep. The guy who was pressing was marking the other Ohio State player. Basically OSU had one guy inbounding, two guys on that half asking for the ball, and two guys standing under the hoop to force the defense to spread out. Seeing that, Michigan decides to have four guys defend the two decoys by the hoop and one guy mark the non-Turner guy wanting the ball. They should have left the inbounder alone, had two guys on Turner, one guy on the other guard and two guys marking the decoy. Doing that stops anyone from being able to get the ball moving forward and take relatively unimpeded shot.

  12. Yeah that was just completely stupid. They had four guys down past half court and only one guy in the press. However, if you watch the replay Beilein was screaming for them to go mark Turner and no one listened so like this whole season the Michigan players f'ed up.
  13. In 11 games since the trade Landry is averaging 17.2 pts and 7 rebs on 53% shooting and is getting to the line 5.6 times a game which would be top 25 for this season. Pretty good for playing without much help in the post whatsoever. Oh and for the record I have moved on from the trade. Still not overly happy about it but it is what it is. This is simply me bragging and being happy about a Boiler who is doing well.
  14. Not going to lie and act like I know a whole bunch about his coaching ability. What I do know is he has done everything you can to get a shot as a head coach. I don't think he can jump right in and take over a Big Ten program. Probably needs to go to a smaller school first to prove he can be a head coach as that is how it works. What he is though is a top assistant under Painter and has been very successful in that role for two winning programs. He is also a former player who from what I have read excelled despite limited athletic ability. I don't think he ever made an NBA squad but I remember reading something about him getting a tryout with an NBA team and playing some non-NBA pro ball.
  15. I think Favre is coming back for 1 more year. Then I think the Vikes make a big splash again at QB. Why not go the Packers route and let him sit for a year or two? Why wait until Favre is gone and then throw a rookie in the fire?
  16. Bruce may leave but it is very unlikely to be for Iowa. If he leaves it will be for a top job not a rebuilding crapfest.
  17. you just heard that on sportscenter, didn't you? I don't really watch Sportscenter and didn't see any of it today. Sando, the ESPN NFC West blogger, had a debate when Jerry Rice was announced as HOF of whether or not he should be called the best player ever. I was curious what non-glamor position guys were out there and in looking up Bruce Mathews (I knew of his Pro Bowl streak) I saw something about Merlin Olsen's streak. I then read a bunch of stuff about him. All I knew of him before that was he was in the HOF and had a cool name.
  18. What if Iowa wanted to hire their women's coach? Uhhhh?!? They could if they wanted to.
  19. One of best players in NFL history period.
  20. If Iowa wants to hire Pearl they will hire Pearl. Delaney and the other schools will have no say in it. If Indiana is allowed to hire a coach on probation Iowa will be allowed to hire a coach not on probation.
  21. Almost went with Campbell but he just doesn't fit Whisenhunt's idea of a tackle in my eyes. He's not the type of guy to roll the dice and take a guy who is a bit of a project, especially with first round picks. I think the Cardinals come into the draft with a clear focus on shoring up the defense. They will need to replace Dansby and many of their other guys are getting older. I wouldn't be surprised to see their first three picks spent on DL, LB and DB in some order.
  22. Looking for a NT and you pass on Cody? vance, shnsajax and the Cowboys are now on the clock. I PMd them. Cody is a clear second round prospect right now. That said the Cardinals may decide to wait until the second round because of guys like Cody and Cam Thomas but like I said no one fell that they really like so their hand is kind of forced. In all honesty I think this is one of the picks most likely to be traded. It's at that spot where teams like to trade back into the first round and nab a guy. Also with only round 1 on day 1 we may see more teams trade back into the first round because they don't want to give other teams a chance to work out a trade during the night to get the first pick in the second round.
  23. That was a very strange day. I was living with an IU fan and a Purdue fan at the time and to see both of their teams which had dominated so much attention during hoops season flame out spectacularly in the league tournament was surreal. Go [expletive] yourself. That IU game was awesome though. Chris and I would yell for the opposite reasons. I remember yelling happily on the buzzer shot and Chris yelling, "NO" and then hearing him punch the wall.
  24. Cardinals take DT Brian Price If this is how it goes I think the Cardinals are a bit disappointed. I think they head into the draft wanting either one of the OT's, true 3-4 DT's, McClain or a tweener pass rusher to fall. I don't think any of the ones they like did. Price isn't bad but he reportedly has a weak lower body which will make it hard to be a NT in a 3-4. If Dunlap wasn't just taken he would have been the pick.
  25. Well crap. I thought the deadline was Friday for some reason.
