  1. Took me 20 minutes to get Wisconsin game to load after Purdue game. I think CBS is overrun and stretched to a degree.
  2. It lost credibility with the I'm just making this up line.
  3. Current longest winning streak in first round is extended. :yahoo:
  4. Yeah not a good start to my day. I picked Minny to upset and Temple to go to Sweet Sixteen.

  6. I agree. Nuts&Gum is a competent writer. And while he assuredly understands the important concepts you so eloquently stated, he did not adhere to them this time around. Incorrect. Sentences (1) and (2) are related. Sentence (3) is offered as an alternative Nuts&Gum would happily take (meaning, he would advocate for it) if they received a good return on a Theriot trade. It is not a continuation of the basic idea of (1) and (2). While it is a logical course of successive thought regarding (1) and (2), (3) does fine standing alone. Sentences (4) and (5) are related to the success of 2010 and beyond without Theriot if the trade in (3) were to happen. I agree. Applying these rules to Nuts&Gum's quote and it should read... His first paragraph challenges the idea that playing Theriot and playing Castro are the only viable options. His second paragraph offers an alternative that he supports. This is why I commented in the first place. I interjected to quell an argument over semantics. It's clear that Nuts&Gum should have used a second paragraph. One of you stopped to read the post, consider it for awhile, and understand it before responding and one of you didn't. I couldn't have said it better myself. Lastly, apologies to Nuts&Gum. I enjoy your posts thoroughly and only critique your writing to illustrate an argument. Please, sir, continue unabashed. This. It is clear as day that Nuts & Gum would gladly trade Theriot if we got a good return on him even though he would then hope to have Blanco or some other scrub be the everyday shortstop and continue to keep Castro developing in minors. I am not in favor of this. Everyone seems to have cast off the Cubs before the season has even started. Seems dumb to me considering we still have a very talented team. Our pitching staff is very good if Lilly can return and there is no way Soriano, Soto and Fontenot are all as woeful as they were last year.
  7. So I just looked at Dickie V's bracket on ESPN and :rotfl: He only got 8/16 but even worse than that he has 4 Sweet Sixteen already done and an Elite Eight.
  8. Liar :P Check your PMs, I sent one to you and my sent folder has the PM I sent you. Unless the board is lying to me. :-) I started my post after you posted but before any PM was sent. I'm good like that.
  9. Liar :P The top guy on our list is Chad Jones - SS Jame and I had a hard time on this pick. We both submitted a list of four guys when we were four picks away and only one guy was on both of our lists. Jones is it but Jame isn't overly happy about it. He prefers to move Goldson over to SS for when Michael Lewis is hurt again and likely retiring (one concussion away I suspect). He wants to take Allen as the FS with this pick. I prefer to keep Goldson where he is and where he showed he can do well and then take the true SS in Jones. I didn't have Allen on my list because I don't see FS as a need with Goldson. So we agreed on Jones earlier tonight. He obviously can override that if he can but he didn't say he was going to and said he was OK with Jones. Give Jame until 9-10 am just in case he wants to override.
  10. So I will end up 10/16 with Vandy and Richmond being Sweet Sixteen teams gone already. Not a good start. My Pomeroy bracket will be 12/16 with Georgetown and Marquette gone already.
  11. If they win, there won't be any way to compare this day to another tournament day The only crazy think I can think of to compare it to is George Mason's run. George Mason's run was over the course of many days (weeks if you count off days). He made it singular by saying day. No [expletive]. Wasn't sure if you got the clarification. Let's not overreact.

  13. sorry not following your 2nd question in the Bonus Questions is "Who will have the higher ERA: Lilly or Wells?" I'm just making sure that's what you want, as the Bonus Questions are generally phrased as who will have the better stat, not who will have the worse one Ah. Didn't realize that. I changed that one from the Heilman one from last year. I thought it was interesting because they had very close ERA's last year and both are risks to not repeat (Wells fluke, Lilly injury). I'm not tied to it at all but couldn't think of a better one and wanted to get Lilly involved. EDIT: Changed it to which will be higher: Lilly 2009 starts or Lilly 2010 starts
  14. :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: OMFG this tourney is flipping awesome.
  15. Granted the first round is only 2/5's over but I can't remember a better tourney. I don't think that is just getting caught up in the moment either.
  16. Come on Wake.
  17. I really really really really really hate having a team I am rooting for go into overtime and completely tank. One of the most frustrating things in sports in my opinion. I don't care much about the game since whoever wins will lose to Kentucky but it is still frustrating.
  18. I picked Tennessee to the Sweet Sixteen so I am fine with it. With Ohio winning my Tennessee pick is looking good.
  19. That is a complete [expletive] call.
  20. I really hope Texas ends up losing. I picked them to lose and I think a large majority picked them to win.
  21. This is where you should post all discussion about the contest. I will start it off by asking if there are any categories that people would like to be included or excluded. If we get a lot of people wanting a certain thing put in or taken out I can make the change as long as it is within the next day or two.
