  1. My thoughts as well. Castro showed he is good enough to get a shot but with Theriot we see no need in rushing it. We sent him back to minors to let him learn a bit more but if Theriot gets hurt this trade would seem to signify that we are confident enough in Castro to call him up as the replacement.
  2. Would also give us a 28 man MLB roster, and let's be honest- that's just a terrible idea. Not sure why it is a terrible idea. It may be an idea you don't like but that doesn't make it terrible. I am all for adding something that actually makes RP's more than an after thought where even now after the draft you can find plenty of top notch RP's that will score right around what all but the top 10 closers will score this season.
  3. Purdue has three people with at least one point in the game. JJ has 13, Moore 6 and Byrd 4.
  4. When the opposing team is shooting 5-for-25, it's hard not to be leading. When you are shooting just as poorly it hard to lead.
  5. It's a decent pick but if I am not mistaken Holmgren doesn't normally take RB's much at all in the draft.
  6. I am amazed Purdue is leading. They have played like crap offensively and both Bade and JJ got in foul trouble early. I have a feeling the wheels will fall off soon.
  7. Purdue forgot how to shoot four games ago. They just haven't shot well whatsoever for two weeks. Oh and the last charge on Bade came underneath the hoop. The offensive charge was done away with last year when its under the basket. It's supposed to be a blocking foul.
  8. Are you surprised? Both teams are pretty up tempo and both teams have very athletic rosters who can really run the court.
  9. Maybe Elmore was just trying to avoid from announcing to the millions of people watching that the dude just got hit in the johnson rod and couldn't catch his breath. Announcers often try to avoid that injury analysis situation. Did you watch the game? Sorry but that comment makes me think you didn't. He commented on it when he was leaving the floor and then 5 full minutes later brought it back up after he had returned and been in the game for a couple minutes. He was shocked that he was playing because how much pain he looked like he was in when he was leaving the floor.
  10. I don't see anywhere in the rules that stipulates it is (rules are carried over from when Laura ran it). I'm fine with you doing it with the stipulation that if we do get prize packages (most likely not) that you would be ineligible since any prize packages are going to be Cubs gear or memorabilia.
  11. Just one? He forgot to put per half inning. Two girls get left holding their hands each game. A third gets left out when the home team wins. Not necessarily.

  13. Duke and Baylor are both capable of beating Kentucky. I wouldn't favor them but I would say Duke matches up as well as anyone with them. Zoubek is big enough and strong enough to at least hamper Cousins and I think Singler would be a bad match up for Patterson.
  14. Ruined? WTF were you watching? Hit mute if you are so easily influenced by announcers. This was one of the greatest games of all time! Ruined!? And I don't remember him ever accusing anyone of faking an injury.. I didn't say it ruined the game I said it ruined it to an extent (well I forgot the an the first time). I say right off the bat it was a great game. I, however, was distracted multiple times by the color guy for all the wrong reasons. As for whomever said they don't remember him saying he faked an injury I will paraphrase what I remember. "He went out acting like his right hand was really hurt. He was holding his left hand over his right hand and looked like he was in a lot of pain. He's back in now just a couple minutes later and acting like nothing is wrong. I think he was just fatigued." Yes, I remember the dialogue... which is so far away from "criticizing" a guy for "faking an injury". How in the world did you get to that conclusion? Elmore clearly thought he hurt his hand, then he thought he was just tired. He never once said anything along the lines of "I think Kelly took himself out of the game (which he was dominating) because he decided that was a clever time to fake an injury".... This isn't football, afterall. No benefit to faking an injury. And to ZERO extent could that game have been ruined by a color guy. Unless Glen Beck took over the job, theres no way at all that you should let anything anyone says ruin a game like that. I've never been fatigued and had my hand start hurting. Either he was implying that he faked an injury to get a breather or Elmore is a complete idiot who thinks your hand can start hurting when you get tired.

  16. This was a great game ruined to extent by the color guy. Criticizing a guy for being "fatigued" and faking a hand injury when it was obvious he was hit in the nuts, "times out" and many other idiotic things.
  17. Ha. I wish Notre Dame had standards flexible enough to get guys like E'Twaun Moore, JaJuan Johnson and Robbie Hummel in (note: I have no idea if any of those guys are good students, so if they are just disregard). All a matter of perspective, I guess. Eh, Purdue has to turn down recruits due to academics too. Obviously not to the same extent as ND. Kentucky (basketball) is just everything that's wrong with college sports. I wouldn't want one and done guys. I just don't agree with that crap. Either make them go for multiple seasons like the NFL or nothing. The current way is a joke and I wouldn't want to be one of the schools that support it.
  18. I wonder if he would accept an offer to join the Yankees front office in a role like Greg Maddux has with us. I would venture a guess and say no because he would likely know that Hank would ultimately only be doing it for the publicity. Jeter's opinions wouldn't matter because Hank will do what Hank wants to do.
  19. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=5029006 Jeter said he wants to be the owner of a professional sports team someday after he retires from baseball and used long-time friend, Michael Jordan, as an example case for what he would want. He said he has no interest in owning a small percentage of a team where doesn't get to "call the shots."
  20. Considering Bilas is one of the most unbiased analysts alive, I have a hard time seeing how he comes off as "pretty biased." But believe what you want to believe, I guess. You do the same.
  21. Jay Bilas is the [expletive] man. The last few years he's become brutally honest. Bilas is an ACC homer. In 05 he dropped the gem that Deron Williams, the Big 10 preseason POTY, wouldn't be in the top 15 players in the ACC. Yeah spot on jackass. Oh come on. You can find a flaw with any broadcaster over their careers. Especially if he says something negative about your favorite team. He's the best and there's no one really close. He and Herbstreit (and he's said things about Iowa over the years that were inaccurate or pissed me off) are my favorite two tv analysts in sports. Although Gottlieb pisses me off sometimes, I love him too. I'm sorry but I just don't think Bilas is that great. He speaks like a [expletive] coach in his analysis. Gottlieb is way better. That's bad? I like when someone actually breaks the game down and adds to it rather than just saying what everyone already knows like most color guys do.
  22. Bilas is a great announcer during games. His analysis that comes outside of games is normally pretty biased and wrong.
  23. WV and Kentucky?? :rotfl:
  24. It's a pretty good read but I'm not sure about his final point. I don't see how Wrigley Field being a shrine stops us from going into an era of winning. That point is completely lost on me but he explained some stuff I never really knew.
