  1. In terms of endowment they are No. 1 in the country. That is according to wikipedia which lists the official PDF as the source and has a link to the official document. In terms of academic reputation and prestige Northwestern I would say is easily the best.
  2. Are we basing this on two seasons. That would be very stupid. Michigan may very well be the best football program. They still bring in a crapton on revenue even with two down seasons. Baseball they are really good at if I am not mistaken and men's basketball they tend to do pretty good.
  3. Uhhh I said who I was keeping months ago in November. I didn't know my exempt players but I knew the points players. I made trades (Pujols, Quentin ... etc.) and calculated my points correctly. CBS then changed some of the players points and you sent out a message saying it had put me under (along with other teams). You then offered me that trade. Now I see that it didn't put me under and YOU were wrong hence why the trade should be voided. Sorry, Levin, but this is on you. You are the one who said that you'd be over the limit... not me. Your exact words: "I made a trade to get just enough points if I'm now short a month after the fact that is not right." Please show me where I told you you would be short? I never did. You did the math on that, not me. Not only that, but let's just say for a second that you're right and I told you that you'd be over. If you knew who you were keeping, did you not have the ability to count for yourself to see if you'd have enough points to keep the guys you wanted to keep? Yes, you did. I don't have a single message from you on here, on CBS, or in my email, so how the hell am I supposed to know who you planned to keep? And if I don't know who you're keeping, how the hell am I supposed to tell you how many points you need? The fact is, you were the only one who could have known. I traded you 7 points because that was how much affect the point change had on your team. I had no idea who you were keeping, so I had no idea how many points you'd need. You not knowing either is not my fault. I said if. I didn't know if I was under. You sent out a message saying that some owners may go under because of it and I said that if someone is over a month after the fact that is crap. Still stand by that. If CBS screws up and wants to change it after owners have made deals and gotten their roster done then no owner should get screwed because of it. We can choose to not recognize the changes that came a month after the season. Also if you look at the league message history you will see a message I sent to the league after trading Pujols (first week of November) saying who I was keeping. You then proposed a trade to me saying here are the 7 points you need. I assumed you counted and that was what I needed. I didn't remember what the pick traded were. I was thinking it was a full round swap not just three spots. If its just three spots I don't really care.
  4. No, you said IU and Purdue can't be in the same division because they're clearly the best two teams historically in the Big Ten. It was dumb enough on the surface, without even getting into the fact that you felt we just had to keep them separate because Purdue won a a bunch of conference titles played by guys who've been dead for 30 years. Regarding Hummel, you said that he'd win it because the voters realized he was hurt and because they voted him preseason BTPOY. You also said some loopy stuff about Lewis Jackson averaging 15 points a game. Ah yes the LewJack stuff. I said that at his peak he could turn into a 15 pts a game scorer. Still think that. Everyone again twisted it into me saying he WOULD become that. I remember saying at one point that I was meaning it in a if he was Willie Deane on a crap team he could score 15 a night. Considering he scored 6 as a freshman on a team with plenty of scorers its not far fetched that he could score 15 a night. And I said if Hummel came back and played great at the end he would win it. He never was able to come back to full strength. I said that voters would realize he was hurt for a portion of the season and would reward him for coming back.
  5. Don't have time for it. Need to get it off my sig. Just as soon as you free up your schedule. ?
  6. Don't have time for it. Need to get it off my sig.
  7. Please explain Michigan. They bring in more revenue than anyone. Athletics they are probably second to OSU and academic endowment they are No. 1.
  8. Is anybody here talking about Michigan, Minnesota or Iowa? No, because they aren't very good and aren't located in the Chicagoland area. If a cabal of fans means about four then OK. But It's not like we're crawling out of the woodwork here. The Purdue hate from Illini fans, or fans of pretenders like ND or BSU is very similar to White Sox fans hate for the Cubs. Did my team win today? Nope. Oh well, Purdue still sucks. Classy. lol, wut? Oh, come on. CubbieBum says some off the wall crap, and because of that a lot of people around here hate Purdue. Purdue's program grew stagnant at the end of Keady's career but Painter has really energized the program. They've been in the top echelon of Big Ten teams recently and have the recruiting ball rolling (bringing in 4 star recruits). If you can't admit that, it's just blind hatred. This is getting old. The only thing I said this year that everyone seems to be stuck on is that historically Purdue is amongst the best in the Big Ten. Everyone has decided that history only exists in the last 20 years. Like I said months ago. If you go off the last 20 years or 10 years Purdue is obviously not amongst the best. I said historically and everyone seems to not know that definition. Last year it was Hummel. I don't remember exact details but I remember it revolving around my saying that if Hummel was healthy he would win BTPOY. Everyone seemed to drop the healthy part and just take it as Hummel = BTPOY. So I get labeled as a massive homer even though I'm really not. I have no problem admitting MSU was better last year even if Hummel was healthy or that Ohio State is better this year with Turner in the lineup. Anyways you all can label me what you want I don't care in the end and will continue to post as I feel like posting no matter what it gets turned into.

  10. Sadly it comes more than every four years. I see it on TV a couple times a year.

  12. We'll have to wait and see for that. First we'll have to enjoy the Illini's NIT appearance. Right. We find two more wins and we are in. That's far from a given. At this point, an end to this disjointed mess of a season might just be a relief. I'm pretty confident going into next year and beyond. Having said that, I find it amusing that as recently as two or three years ago, no one here was talking about Purdue, yet now there is a cabal of outspoken fans, acting pretentious. Will they go back to being invisible when Purdue goes back to the middle of the pack? Only time will tell. I wasn't here then. If I had been I likely would have been even more vocal as I tend to complain more than I cheer. If Purdue is up big I tend to watch quietly. If they are down I tend to be screaming cuss words. Come to think of it 4 or 5 years ago when I first looked at this site (using a different name) I had Keady as my avatar. That was in his last year when we blew chunks.
  13. If my points are correct them I demand to have my trade with you voided. You said I needed 7 points after the CBS adjustments but now you have me with 10 points over the amount I needed. I didn't need those 7 points that you told me I did.
  14. Wisconsin is just a glorified Iowa and wasn't a big win unless you're talking about msu. Both those statements are fantastic. You don't beat MSU if Lucas plays. And a team that's made the tourney 12 years in a row (counting this year, as they are a lock) and has had 20+ wins in 7 of 8 years isn't a glorified anything. Wisconsin has 15 tournament appearances, 11 of which are in the last decade, and lacked one from 1947 to 1994. :-k
  15. :yahoo: for Illini homers. They were in top notch form today. Ohio State's chucking waaaaaaa. You allowed them to shoot that ridiculous percentage so get over it. I also love all the Purdue hatred that comes from no replys. Illinois lost in an embarassment today so let's throw out Purdue hatred to feel better.
  16. :rotfl: The absurdity of this post makes me laugh. Ohio State with Turner is probably the best team in the Big Ten.
  17. I especially liked that the Koreans knocked each other out as opposed to skaters from different countries getting tangled up.For no real reason I always get mildly annoyed when I see the replay of Ohno getting taken out in 02, just because the Korean who fell into him seemed to stick his arm out to knock him down. I'm sure it was unintentional, but the Olympics are all about irrational homerism. I'm pretty sure it was intentional this would be why Ohno was awarded a gold medal in a later race for a Korean cross-tracking him. Anyways the Ohno photo on ESPN where he is holding up his finger as if he is No. 1 despite getting silver (I assume its from tonight's race and not a previous Olympics where he got gold) is very dumb on Ohno's part. I've always laughed at it when I see an athlete do that. Sure be excited and go crazy but that is the one thing you shouldn't do. It's for the total number of medals he's won (tied for the most by a U.S. competitor at the Winter Olympics) not for his finish tonight. I'm not so much talking about ESPN's use of the photo but just that Ohno did it after winning silver. It may be a photo from when he won a gold though I didn't get to see the race tonight so I don't know if that is the suit he wore.

  19. And Billy Taylor will be hired away after this season. This is why my rooting for BSU is half-hearted. The first real successful season we have Taylor is gone. If he stays one more season maybe he will replace Brey if ND falls apart with out Harangody. I doubt Taylor gets hired away after a barely-above-.500 season in year 3. It would take some sustained success including NCAA berths, which we are still a good distance away from if Kent's destruction of us last week is evidence. He won't get a great job but remember how crappy the MAC pays coaches. Going to a struggling big school or a good small conference school will give him a good sized raise. As far as the sustained success I don't think you have to have that great of success to get hired away especially when you consider the very publicized circumstances Taylor took the program over in. If they win the MAC West title this year that will make it 2 in row and this year it will have been in a respectable form. I think that is more than enough (especially considering his success at Lehigh too) to get him a struggling Big East school offer. As far as ND is concerned I think if he stays one more year and again wins the MAC West he could get that job since he is an alum. However, that is a big if as is Brey getting booted.
  20. i beg to differ. Yes, I, like about 10 other posters in this thread, are posting updates about a team no one gives a [expletive] about. Get over it. I don't want to read 10 pages of Illinois every time they play and you don't want to read one post per 5 pages about Ball State. We'll call it even. oh, i wasn't complaining, i was just saying that i seriously doubt that it could, in any way, be fun. For you no. For the 4 or 5 of us BSU guys yes.
  21. Still waiting. Even before tonight (with the exception of the Howard year), the dunk contest has become very vanilla and watered-down. That is what happens when the best 20-30 dunkers in the game refuse to do it. I have said it before (not sure if on here) but they should pass a rule that anyone who refuses to do the dunk, 3-pt or skills challenge is not allowed to play in the All-Star game. The league would decide who dunks cause otherwise Kobe and LeBron would be selected every year or do something like once someone has done the dunk contest once they can opt out from then on. Most players I think see the All-Star game as a privilage because it is the only time they get to goof off with all the other top players so I don't think you would see everyone just say F it and skip All-Star Weekend all together.

  23. I will be totally and utterly shocked if the 49ers take a RB anytime before Round 4 let alone with their first pick. Granted it is Spiller but we have Gore and just spent a 3rd rounder on a guy the coaching staff supposedly really likes. I wouldn't be surprised to see them take Spiller if they think he's the BPA since that seems to be their first-round MO and returner is a need. In the first round, I think they take BPA with one pick and BPA at a position of need with the other. I think RB is the one position they wouldn't take BPA. As I stated before there is no room. We have Gore, a recent draft pick in Coffee, and a viable 3rd string guy who is really good on ST's in Robinson. I also think we could see an adjustment in draft philosophy as I think the front office believes we are on the cusp of being a contender and thus need to fill our remaining holes more than just collect talent.
  24. What? Didn't he only play there two years? I should rephrase, his number wasn't retired it was just an honored player like we unveiled last year with those 25 or so players. Still though, Joe Forte??? If I remember correctly, and I very well may not, he has the UNC freshman scoring record and is one of only three or four guys to be a consensus All-American as a sophomore. I remember hearing a lot during his second year about the scoring record and I remember reading a draft profile on him saying the consensus All-American thing.
  25. Also, Northwestern's endowment is 2nd in the Big Ten to Michigan. The next closest to them is Minnesota at 3.7 Billion less. I'm sure Northwestern's basketball program is losing at least 3.5 Billion alone. You know you can provide the info without being a jackass. Northwestern's endowment does cover the lack of atheltic revenue by a wide margin. Thanks for clearly that up. And for the record I never said that small women's sports would get equal say just that they get some say. The AD would have to at least get their opinion or risk being accused of violating Title IX. But alas you never were one to not exaggerate posts and skew them into whatever you want them to be so you can feel good at night.
