Let's hope this year's A-Ram walk-off has the same effect as last year. Funny how similar those two game ended and how they were captured perfectly. This will surely be my favorite photo--that is until we reach October! why what happens in October ... isn't that football season
I thought a strain was just a pull. A pull is a tear. When you pull or stretch a muscle too far, there are micro tears in the muscle fibers. Forget to turn on the sarcasm barometer today??? Pull and tear are synonyms.
Relatively, it is good. Very good. I had serious concerns about losing him for the season. Plus the rest wouldn't hurt him. He's not out of the woods yet. A minor tear doesn't always stay minor, even if you let him rest awhile. Then it is season over, and possibly more. Leave it to Kyle for encouraging words. Dude! Come on. This anti-negativity vibe is getting out of control. Yesterday, I heard it for saying the Cubs didn't look like a 100-win team anymore, and today I get it for just saying "he isn't out of the woods yet." Anyone who makes a living throwing baseballs but has a shoulder problems is not out of the woods. you didn't say he isn't out of the woods you said "it isn't good." There is a massive difference. He could have been out for a very long time so him missing three starts IS a good thing. It's not ideal but considering the circumstances its the best you could hope for.
I don't know there's no guys head sticking out right beneath Soriano's head in the 2008 version. BTW this thread could set the record for most bytes in one page.

Must find high res versions.

yeah I was pissed all game long. Not really because they homers (it makes me mad but i expect it from them like when he said "we head to the __ inning with a 3-1 lead ... no the white sox do) but they don't get excited whatsoever unless its a white sox home run. The Rays announcers were great I got into the game while watching it on mlb.tv because when we had a big hit they would be yelling he's rounding 1st or 2nd and so-so has to get the ball quick or it will be a double/triple. With white sox it's just silence and a buss kill. They are made for radio guys on tv. Realized that during the pregame when they just sat up there and read off a piece of paper (actually was shown on tv doing just that). Len and Bob and all good tv broadcasters get interviews during BP and the such so you have something to see.
There will soon be another one of these all over Cubs fans wallpapers. This time though it will be a White Sox player in the background ... http://www.pe.com/imagesdaily/2006/09-15/aptopix_dodgers_cubs_baseba_300.jpg
Craziest ending to a soccer game I have ever seen and I've played soccer since I was 4 and my dad coached for 15 years. Its somewhat of a shame this happened at the same time the Cubs got the 9th inning walkoff. I say somewhat because it is now the best 20 minutes of my sports life as a fan. I was flipping over to the soccer game inbetween every pitch.
he's from Chicago and still lives in Chicago (north side if I'm not mistaken. read an article one time a couple months back where he said he's in Cubs town)
umm pretty much new this 5 months ago yeah this year and the next couple years should be some big classes (Pedro, Johnson, Schilling, Mariano, Glavine, Maddux, Hoffman, Griffey, Thomas, Piazza, Kent, Pudge ...)
Trash talking is good and is what rivalries are built and sustained on. A player/manager trash talking fuels it big time. However, the stuff Williams and Ozzie say are cheap low blows that have nothing to do with the game. Like Ozzie's body double comment about Lou. Where does that come from and what the hell does it have to do with baseball???? No where and nothing is the answer. I don't mind what Danks said. I didn't like playing at any of my rivals places when I was in high school. Does he need to go to the paper to say it? No but I'm sure many Cubs fans hate playing in the Cell because no one shows up to watch. It's the Ozzie and Williams comments that are stupid and out of line. And I would guarantee Barrett said stuff about the Sox plenty of times and I would be surprised if Zambrano never said anything but I can't recall specifics. I do remember a couple years ago a player saying the Cell stinks because no one shows up to watch the games but can't remember who said it (may have actually been Baker).
Plus our logo from when the Bears were created is still used by them today. It's not really uni related but he had another non-uni related on in the Uniwatch. http://www.sportslogos.net/team.php?id=54 The Bears first season was 1920. Although I was curious to see if the Reds stole the logo as well since they have the same C design as the Bears. Looks like they had it first actually. http://www.sportslogos.net/team.php?id=56 Lastly it this should have been included as I think it may be the most unique thing. In our regular logo we have the R circled trademark symbol but in our alternative logo we use the TM. You can see it on the link I have above.
Trading Marmol wouldn't make this bullpen stink. The Cubs have the luxury of selling high on a player like Marmol and still having a competitive or better bullpen. Greene's numbers are dragged down by playing half of his season in the cavern that is Petco. Look at his splits. His away OPS was .840 last year. .863 the year before that. Get him out of Petco and into a place like Wrigley and his numbers overall will soar. He's a serious power threat, especially for a SS, and he plays excellent defense at a position where we could use it. Plus, as opposed to Marmol's one inning every other game, he'll play almost every game. If you can use a reliever as a package to get a young, excellent everyday player like Greene, you do it. If it's Marmol for Greene straight up then yes you probably do it but not with all the other guys you listed. I'm embarrassed about this post. Anyone out there still think this would be a good trade?
Catcher is obviously the worst. Soto is arguably the best catcher in the majors this year. After that I say it's a tie between 2b and SS. DeRo is better than Alexi but not by a whole lot and Cabrara is better than Theriot but this season not by much. Theriot can get on base and hit for average but everything else is medicore. He's got pretty good speed but not great, plays servicable defense but is quite limited in the throws he can make. Orlando is an very inconsistent hitter but for a SS isn't too bad at hitting and he has one of the best gloves at SS because right now there isn't a great fielding SS out there.
