  1. Not according to the playoff seedings, or these two game box scores. Well I will give you one thing. Your GM and coach could probably be the crap out of my GM and coach.
  2. I'm quite happy the Rockets didn't make the playoffs. I've had two years in a row with our best player/s not healthy for the playoffs and thus no real shot at a championship. I'm not so desperate for the playoffs that I would root for the 8th seed just so I can say my team made the playoffs at the cost of the lottery. Oh and 42-40 in the Western Conference >>>>>>>>>> 41-41 in the Leastern Conference.
  3. That gets to the root of the whole thing. I think a majority of people don't enjoy watching sub-.500 or barely .500 teams try to hang with the top teams for 10 days or so.
  4. I can only assume you're also not a fan of college basketball. Umm March Madness lasts 1 month and no where near half the teams make the tournament. It still takes a long-ass time and there's still an absurd amount of teams competing. I have no idea why one would expect that the time span for playoffs must occur within a certain amount of time. Why is one month OK, but over one month is not? Yeah, over half the teams in the NBA make the playoffs, but how is that so much worse than wading through 65 teams in a tournament, which is soon going to be expanded to nearly 100? Because one month is around what most playoff systems last. Two months is way too long. 2 months is double 1 month and thus a much longer amount of time. You seem to believe there isn't much difference between 1 month and 2 months. Also playing a factor, albeit small, is the NBA playoffs used to be shorter but they somewhat recently made every series a 7 game series.

  6. I'm just hoping for a Yao Ming like miracle with the Rockets in the lottery.
  7. Just a thought but could the original post be put in order so all the picks received by one team is next to each other. So all the picks I receive are one after the other, then another teams and so forth. Just would be a lot easier to see who has really picked up a lot of draft picks.
  8. Man I can't wait for a another two or three years to see what these guys can do in the majors. I think it is inevitable we trade away some of them but I really hope we hold on to a majority because they are great. I don't want to see us trade away these guys for above average vets just try and extend our window another year or two. I am all for letting some of the vets walk and let our farm guys replace them. Especially in the rotation.
  9. I hope not but maybe Cashner is the 8th inning guy Lou mentioned. I highly doubt it but it is a thought especially if his stuff falters after 3-4 innings again.
  10. Even that first AB looked good. He smashed a rocket, but unfortunately just right at the SS. Theriot or Soto?
  11. I can't see this game but it looks like Theriot has continued to pick up steam and Soto not only showed power but continued to show very good patience (2 BB's).
  12. http://www.cubworld.com/product/660/Chicago-Cubs-Adjustable-Royal-Freshman-Cap-by-47-Brand.html ? Thats what I pictured as well/ I assumed he meant royal blue. Yeah that's it. I'm not one to care about knowing what the technical color of my hats are. To me it is light or sky blue.
  13. This is my favorite part. The thing is from 1995.
  14. peavy had a NTC that killed Towers had in that situation, not to mention health concerns and a big contract. i mean, towers had what... like 2 or 3 teams that he could trade peavy to? gonzalez is a completely different situation. How many teams have the resources to keep Gonzalez and an opening for him to play? I'd say less than 10 and closer to 5. Everyone could use a starting pitcher, not everyone needs a 1B. The difference is what 5 teams are likely to pursue AGon. Almost all, if not all the top payroll teams in the league will go after AGon and most likely only top payroll teams will go after him because of the contract he will likely demand. Peavy was injury prone and while is contract is big it was still small enough middle of the road teams wanted him. The injuries scared off most of the big payroll teams, plus they have great rotations already, so you were left with somewhat desperate middle of the road teams willing to take the risk.
  15. They can ask, but they will get a no on Castro. But the Cubs, IMO, still have enough to land AGon without including Castro. Ah. Why in the world do you think that, again? I would doubt the Cubs would want to include Castro. He seems like a prospect who is off limits for us. Also we most likely have enough to get him without Castro but we would probably have to give up just about everyone else (Cashner, Jackson x2, Vitters)
  16. 1. He drove without a motorcycle helmet which is against the law (not that big of a deal to me though). 2. He drove without a motorcycle license (bigger deal than #1) 3. After the accident he said he wouldn't wear a helmet still which was a very stupid thing to say and he retracted it a week later after the NFL and Steelers talked to him. Although all relatively minor all of those are misconduct by the NFL rules. As for the Holmes comment and the Steelers I somehow had missed that he had a positive drug test. That changes things. However, Roethlisberger should still without question get a 1-4 game suspension (I would go 2). so you're saying even if he did absolutely nothing wrong (with respect to this thing in the night club) and this was all actually a misunderstanding or false allegations (I don't really know what happened), he should still get suspended 2 games and it's racist if he doesn't get some sort of suspension? Read the NFL Conduct Policy. Whether fair or not they can and will suspend for reasons having a lot to do with morals. Getting drunk and hooking up with a drunk girl in the bathroom of a bar falls into that category. The NFL Conduct Policy states that NFL employees, of which players are included, are held to a higher standard than regular people and that they can be suspended even if no criminal activity occurred. One time for a player in this type of situation can be forgiven and the player can learn a lesson without a suspension. A second time, especially in a short amount of time, means the player didn't learn his lesson last time so a suspension is needed because the player doesn't seem to get it when he is let off hook without one.
  17. What does Cooperstown do with something like that? Not sure about anyone else, but frankly I wouldn't want Leake's opening performance cap cluttering up the actual important items on display when I visit. Maybe they'll sit on it for 15 years or so in case he has a HOF-worthy career, and then they can display it as the hat from his ML debut. Otherwise, I don't think they'll actually display it. Yeah I applied once for a HOF internship that's job was to search through the archives and artifacts focusing on one theme and then present the findings at some large get together at the inductions the following year. The guy I talked to said your focus could be just about anything because they have warehouses of stuff with almost none of it ever actually going on display because it only appeals to a very specific group of people. So they basically stockpile anything remotely unique because someday it may be some lost artifact that is the link to something in the past.
  18. you just lovvvveee to see him fail, don't you. Who doesn't? At this point he is the only person on the planet outside of his mother and the Mariners rooting for himself to succeed. Mariners fans probably aren't as miserable as Cubs fans, and actually want the guy to do well. I do too. Rooting against him seems very strange to me. Do you see me saying I root against him anywhere in my post. I don't follow him except when I see a story online about him flipping someone off. I got him in the NSBB Premier League and until I saw this story I actually thought he was doing well because I noticed he had a HR on my bench at one point. I had no idea that was his only hit. A guy that much of a prick I avoid watching because I just get annoyed. I don't root for him to suck. I don't root for him in any way. That said I don't mind seeing him fail.
  19. That isn't what made it funny but whatever gets your panties in a bunch ... errr floats your boat.
  20. you just lovvvveee to see him fail, don't you. Who doesn't? At this point he is the only person on the planet outside of his mother and the Mariners rooting for himself to succeed.
  21. Leake's cap was sent to Cooperstown. He is the first Reds pitcher to have two hits in his debut since 1929.
  22. Nah. He's dark but not that dark. Someone would see. That move only works on the real dark players because they aren't "imposters."
  23. This post reminds me of OMC. How bizarre. Oooo baby. It's making me crazy to be honest. Every time I look at this thread it's in my face.
  24. If I'm not mistaken (too lazy to look it up) the Braves gave up three top prospects and another decent one to get Tex. I know Saltamachia (no where close on spelling), Neftali Feliz and Andrus were part of it.
  25. If The Cubs ever actually made that offer for A-Gon then they should be banished from MLB just on principle alone. Were talking 1 year of A Gon here. However, Vitters, Cashner, Theriot, and Colvin might be more realistic. I guess a lot of it depends on what kind of year Vitters has. The kid isnt even old enough to drink yet and can still re-estblish himself as a top prospect. Probably still not enough. If Lee has another .900+ OPS year or close to it I'm fine giving him a 3 year deal worth 30 million (not sure he would take it). That is better than giving away a, for once, pretty deep farm to get Adrian with no guarantee past one year and if we do manage to get an extensive likely having to pay double what Lee would take.
