  1. Three things are big and yet to mentioned. With baseball you have so many statistics its hard to pindown a HOFer. With other sports like football and basketball if you are high on one of the few really important alltime lists on a stat you are in. For instance the top guys in points, assists, and rebounds all get in or rushing yards, passing yards, receiving yards. However with baseball you have so many to pick from and none are clear cut the most important. Tied into the statistic part with the other sports you have fewer people to pick from making it easier to designate. You have one running back on each team that will get enough yards each season, one QB ... etc. In basketball there are only 5 starters and two always gravitate to one stat which makes it even easier (PG's to assts and C's to rebounds). With baseball all batters go for the same statistics and all positions have an equal chance to lead any statistic. The final one and the one I think is most important to the question of why is so polarizing is its the strictest. The baseball hall of fame makes it so hard to get in that it really raises arguments when people come eligible.
  2. You have unless McGehee is out of this world and the Ravens' defense has a total meltdown. If tonight's game is something like 77-70 then you may be in trouble. I definitely beat Wilmo (Douchebag Pierzinski). I'm up 111.48 to 89.58, and all of his players are finished while I still have the Carolina defense tomorrow night (I may bench them as a defensive move to protect against a negative score). And that's after getting zero points from one of my running back positions due to Barber's injury (I had no choice but to use a backup, and I chose the wrong one; Rhodes actually had double digits). whats the score for mine now? I don't have live scoring on Yahoo. It's over (neither of you have a player in the Monday night game). You won 135.06 to 74.8. Looks like you play Fighting CTs in the semifinals while I play GEOVANY SOTO. If everything goes right it can be an all-North Carolina final. Well my team rolled all season long and then crapped out right at the end. I hate when that happens. I'll go cry in the corner.
  3. Good I'm glad you don't. Your Christian so I wouldn't expect you not to just as I wouldn't expect a Jewish person to not celebrate Hanukkah. I just take issue with the people who say I'm being cruel by saying I won't celebrate Christmas when I have kids.
  4. You aren't taking anything away if you didn't give them anything in the first place. Apparently, you have no idea what a parent feels when they see their kids come down the stairs on christmas day and see the smiles on their faces when they open their presents. Admittedly, neither do I, but I can imagine the feeling. When/If you have kids, you'll know what I'm talking about and you'll be alright with lying to them. Besides, it's not like your kid won't love you anymore when you tell them santa isn't real. I was brought up believing in santa, and I loved it. When they told me he wasn't real, I was like "Oh, that sucks... but do I still get presents?" children accept stuff like that pretty easily. Once again not Christian so my kids won't be getting presents for a religious holiday not of my religion. Kids will light up Christmas morning whether they believe you got the presents or Santa did. Do you all not think Jewish kids light up when they get their dradles? They are made of clay you know. You know, people do in fact celebrate christmas without being Christian. I'm atheist and so are my parents, but we celebrated christmas every year. Just not as a religious holiday, but as a time to be together as a family. Letting your kids grow up without christmas is cruel. It's by far the most awesome time of year as a kid. You don't need Christmas to get together with family. I have a very close family and we get together 3 or four times every year even though one brother lives in Milwaukee, one sister in Raleigh, my parents in South Carolina and myself and my other sister are still in Indiana. We talk on email all day long and we sure as heck don't need Christmas or any other holiday to get together. Thinking raising kids without Christmas is both arrogant and ignorant. Nearly half the kids in the world don't grow up with Christmas because THEY AREN'T CHRISTIAN. I realize some people celebrate it even though they aren't but that doesn't really exist anywhere else other than the U.S. and a few other well advanced countries. It exists because in those countries Christmas has become so commercial its lost most if not all its religious meaning. A large reason people in this country celebrate without being Christian is because of the decades of media and the companies themselves passing it off as the greatest thing ever. The companies like that because it allows them to sell more. Christmas in many ways become like Valentine's Day. A holiday that companies control and make billions off of. It is not cruel to raise kids without Christmas that just reaks to high heaven with ignorance. You do know most other religions have holidays that include giving presents to kids. I grew up with one were for four days (five on leap years) in February you have a small present left on your bed while you sleep by your parents (not some mystery made up person). I say small because it is said in the holy book the presents shouldn't be the focus. The holiday is supposed to be about appreciating your family and not the presents. Christmas has lost that and lost it a longtime ago. Excuse me now I'm going to go kill myself because I can't live anymore since I didn't grow up with Christmas. I'll be joining the devil in hell for dinner since no doubt most of you think that must be where I'm going since I don't celebrate Christmas.
  5. Either that or non-christians you know they do exist.

  7. I think people are underestimating the voters bias. Voters will see this possibility and vote to not allow it to happen. If any SEC coach didn't have Florida No. 1 already (probably most since they would have had Alabama) they will now and I think many of the other coaches will put Florida ahead of Texas to ensure there can't be a Big XII national title game (isn't a conference championship game supposed to prevent this but that's beating a dead horse). We've seen crazy voting in the final week before and with the Big XII match up possibility I will be very surprised to not see a whole lot of people all of a sudden have Florida jump Texas in there ballot.
  8. You aren't taking anything away if you didn't give them anything in the first place. stole the words right out of my mouth
  9. I'm sure there will be times when I need to but Santa is one I need to do. I knew from an early age that he was real and when people would say that he was at school (teachers and the such) I would say no he isn't and I would get in trouble for it. EXCUSE ME! I'm getting in trouble because I know the teacher is lying? That is bull----. Teachers shouldn't be talking about Santa and saying he is real anyways. That is not there place. you're definitely going to be a terrible parent. right away you want to make your child an outcast. seriously, i have never heard of a kid growing up and having issues because his parents lied and told him there was a santa claus. i'm not a christian but i'll still let my kids enjoy one of the best things aobut childhood. anyways, is christmas really even correlated to christianity these days? it's all about family/friends, cool lights/decorations, and getting free stuff. kids don't care about where christmas actually originated, they care about having fun and looking forward to it every year. you need to be smart enough to realize that the holidays don't have to be about religion. awesome ignorance here ... I will be a terrible parent because I won't lie to my kids and let them believe a total farce. And yes Christmas is still about religion. It was created to make it easier for pagans (mainly Roman) to convert by the Pope. The holiday is built by religion and is very much a farce itself as very few actually celebrate it for its intended purposes. I grew up in a religion that taught the values of all religions and that we all pray to the same God. I will teach my kids about all religions and will celebrate holidays from many of them but Christmas will not be among them because it has lost most of its meaning and was created for the wrong reasons.
  10. Christians and their thinking that not being Christian must suck really gets on my nerves.

  12. yes no its FF playoff time plus no one has signed yet so its hard to even start thinking about it
  13. I will not be telling my future kids a bold face lie.
  14. Big Ten looking to be very good this year. Finally did well in the challenge and then two mid-high teams beat top teams in the ACC and the Big East today.
  15. You're not one for using sources. You're also not one for telling us crap.
  16. That player will get suspended for awhile.
  17. BTW I thought I should tell everyone that a former high school soccer teammate of mine is now a member of the Purdue basketball team. He went to West Lafayette High School like I did, obviously, and was a star but didn't want to go play D II. He was a Purdue freshman last year and over the summer was playing some pick up basketball when a couple of the team members came in. I guess he was able to hold his own with them (I think one was Kramer) and they told him he needed to come try out. When he got to the tryouts I guess Painter knew all about him because those players had told him already and he was the best player in the tryouts. He was added about a week ago.
  18. Purdue loss hurts a bit more now that we are a home team that lost in the Challenge decided by one game.
  19. I'm literally speechless.
  20. it's Jay or Jayson but yeah if you find it send me a link
  21. its not our fault greg monroe and patrick patterson didnt want to play for us. black guys hate us i think. The real truth of the reason is Duke does not change their academic standards for anyone athletes or not and they have some of the highest standards in the country. That makes it hard to get the inner city kids that tend to be the really great basketball players and are more often black. This is why Duke will never ever be good at football. You can't find 20 great players who are smart enough to get in let alone the 30-40 you need to compete in football. You can find 7-10 very good basketball players who are smart enough. I applaud Duke for not lowering its standards and its just unfortunate that right now the inner city is predominantly black and that's where most of the great basketball players come from. Northwestern football? Stanford Basketball? I don't know why you list Stanford basketball I said you can get 7-10 good basketball players. As far as Northwestern goes they are 150 games under .500 in their history and typically finish in the bottom third. Duke and Northwestern have similar football histories. Every once in a while they have a good team but typically they are a couple games below .500 playing easy non-conference schedules. Oh and Duke has won the most Academic Achievement Awards for football doubling the second place team.

  23. I think they finally realized what they weren't doing after the 10 minute mark. That's when Moore started penetrating and either laying it in or kicking it out. They didn't do that all game. When they go penetration the player always shot he never made the defense play honest by kicking it out. They were also just flat out missing shots they normally make.

  25. The worst half they have played since early last season without a doubt. Didn't score until 4 minutes in and just played sloppy offense all half. The defense wasn't great but turned on at the end when Duke started to pull away. Both Moore and Hummel blew chunks and Purdue is down just 8 so if either one gets going in second half Purdue can be right back in it. I don't think Moore has even scored. It looks like they're trying to score inside against a bigger team. Duke is definitely more athletic, but why has Purdue abandoned the 3-point shot? Duke is defending the perimeter. Purdue didn't adjust and start running pick and rolls (only once and it resulted in a dunk) or picking for guys cutting to the backdoor etc.
