  1. Whoever voted for LaRussa needs to be castrated. why? Because his team finished fourth in the division. I can see giving him a third place vote or something like that because he wasn't given much to work with but to give him a first place vote makes me think that voter will always vote for LaRussa.
  2. He usually gets better around tournament time, but he's considered an expert because he averages about 64/65 teams in the tournament every year. That looks impressive, but there's usually only a few slots in question on Selection Sunday. If my full time job was to predict the bracket I'm pretty sure I could average that. If I remember correctly our NSBB committee only missed one team this last year, and most of our individual rankings were very close as well. And we weren't even trying to project what would happen, just what should happen. Lunardi is no doubt Jerry Mathers incarnate, but man I hope Purdue fans complaining about a lack of respect aren't the new Illinois/Indiana this year. Depends. Purdue has a tough schedule to start out with a couple big games. If they win those and are still ranked behind MSU I will be complaining. If Purdue wins the PreNIT and beat Duke they better be in the top 7 or so and if they continue to win going into conference (beating Davidson in Wooden Tradition) they should be top 5 but I don't think they would be.
  3. Whoever voted for LaRussa needs to be castrated.
  4. Bracketology is out. He has Wisconsin at 2 Michigan State at 3 and Purdue at 4. I don't understand how this dude ever got famous for being really good. He's like Kiper that way. Wrong as much as anyone he is just thrown in your face by ESPN so you think he knows a lot.
  5. Colston has had the best two seasons to start a career at WR in league history. You don't drop him unless I'm in that league with you. People who wait for injured superstars to return to form are the ones who tend to win the championship. I always try to trade for players like Colston because come playoff time I'm stacked.
  6. Any time you can get Bush in a PPR league you do it. There are only a handful of people who are worth more than Bush in PPR. He has the most catches of any body in history for the first two years in the league (Colston is second which is ridiculous considering they came out at the same time on the same team).
  7. I thought this would be a sign him for a good backup/bat off the bench thread. Suggesting getting him for starting purposes is ignorant. It takes 5 minutes to read up on how bad he is in the field.
  8. I've lost all respect for the award over the last couple years. It is plainfully obvious Glaus was head and shoulders above Wright. The award is given to the top fielders anymore. Its given to the all-stars who field good.
  9. Of course he was. But, as IMB! pointed out, this is a preseason 2008-2009 team. Yeah its preseason but its a pretty big deal. Its doesn't carry as much weight as the end of season all-american team but it still carries a lot of weight.
  10. Collison no doubt makes a better pro prospect but I think Lawson was better last year. Could be different this year though.
  11. Curry, really? Isn't he still just a shooter? I like him and all, but don't think he is more worthy than a guy like Ellington. The dude averaged 26 pts 5 rebs 3 assists and 2 stls last year what else do you want from him blocks? The ability to create his own shot. In all seriousness if Wayne Ellington was on Davidson he would put up those numbers too. He very well might but if you go down that road then there is a lit of 40 guys you could say that about. The fact is no one knows if someone else could do it and Curry IS doing it. Did you not watch the tournament last year? Sure he shots the three a lot but he was also driving a lot. He averaged 32 points against top teams no else did that.
  12. Oh and the joke pick is Darren Collison. He averaged 15 pts and 4 assists while playing 35 minutes a game. That is no where near All-American. Ty Lawson is the first guy who comes to mind that is a better choice than Collison (probably not the top choice). He averaged 3 less points but had more points per shot (aka Hansborough keeps him from scoring 15+), more rebounds, a full 1.4 assists more, a much better assist to turnover ratio and shot over .500 from the field.
  13. Curry, really? Isn't he still just a shooter? I like him and all, but don't think he is more worthy than a guy like Ellington. The dude averaged 26 pts 5 rebs 3 assists and 2 stls last year what else do you want from him blocks?

  15. This was posted a month ago and had practically the exact same thread title.
  16. and a first round pick yeah forgot about that ... that lowers the amount I would want offered to say four years 16 million.
  17. I don't know if anyone has mentioned him yet (I haven't seen it but I don't look at every thread that comes up) but if we can't resign Wood or even if we do I would like us to sign Juan Cruz. His last two years he had a 3.10 and 2.61 ERA. In 122 2/3 innings he has struck out 158. That's a K-rate of 11.59 and this past year was 12.37 (second highest among pitchers with 40+ innings and higher than Marmol). We can sign him and if we want to keep Marmol in the when we need him emergency/setup man role try Cruz at closer or if we move him to closer make Cruz the setup man. The reason I think he would be a good option regardless of if we resign Wood is that as good as he's been he's not getting a whole lot of attention so I think we could get a great RP for cheaper than his true value. I would guess (don't really know because no one has covered it) but Cruz could probably be had for 4 years and 24 million or so. This is true especially with K-Rod and the other huge free agents that teams will be concentrating on and spending all their money on.
  18. I was waiting for the AP Poll to come out before venting on this. How MSU can be ranked ahead of Purdue is beyond me. Purdue finished above them last year and return more. If you finish ahead of a team and return more than that team the next year you should be ranked ahead of that team in preseason polls. Polls are always annoying and biased towards teams that are nationally recognized as top programs but inside a conference when its this obvious its inexcusable. Thankfully preseason polls mean jack and it will be proven on the court but still gets on my nerve. The AP poll is worst. No excuse for MSU being 5 spots ahead of Purdue. I would put Purdue at 10 (so the polls got that right) and MSU between 12-15.

  20. http://i.cdn.turner.com/sivault/si_online/covers/images/1990/0305_large.jpg Ball State beat them in the tourney that year. :D Notre Dame's lineup: PG Jackson SG McAlarney F Ayers (possibly Zeller) F Harangody F Hillesland ND will go with no true center. Luke's the closest thing but he's 6'8" in high-tops. Purdue's lineup is the same as last year. Beautiful thing isn't it. And yeah the champion, especially recently, is normally a team picked as one of the favorites from the preseason. The other rounds have a lot of upsets making march Madness what it is but the champion is almost always a favorite going into the season. And Rchap Florida winning the second year wasn't crazy. When you return every player of importance from a championship team its not crazy they repeat. Repeats are rare ... as rare as a championship team returning everyone.
  21. i hope that obama asks to take his oath with his right hand on the koran rather than the bible, just to watch the right wing collectively go insane. So do I but because I despise people who think only Christians should lead this country. Religion should have no part in politics.
  22. Didn't he get hurt? back injury, i think i know he was in camp with someone this year, but he's spent the last few years in india doing religious studies or something nutty I wouldn't call being religious nutty
  23. i hope they all die in a plane crash. i didn't even think of this angle. beautiful. I hope youre on the plane too. What a horrible post. i used to love those ucla vs. arizona games. so much good guard play Basketball didn't exist outside of the Big Ten to me until about 8 years ago. Didn't? I'm pretty sure it still wouldn't if the conference was worth paying attention to. Lord knows I don't really pay attention to non-Big East games very often, a few regional games like Purdue and IU being exceptions. I watch some non Big Ten games now and I actually follow the other major conferences. I actually look to see where Purdue should be seeded. Then there's the MAC stuff. Before 99 or so Purdue was always a top team so I never really had to follow anything else. Then the recruiting scandel happened and the team fell in the crap hole.
