  1. They were picked to finish second in the West actually although for some reason they were the only West team to get a vote to win the MAC Tournament.
  2. Suing fans for not cheering, that's a new one. :D I should sue MLB for allowing Florida to still have a baseball team.
  3. Somebodies pessimistic after that first game.
  4. I just hope Gregg gets off to a good start because if he doesn't I think fans will turn pretty quick since he will be filling Wood's shoes. Coming from Florida I'm not sure he can withstand a home team that boos him. Then again maybe coming from Florida he will be sued to home fans not cheering for him.
  5. Jones did so against an Eastern Illinois team that is 1. really, really bad and 2. very undersized If my assumptions are correct, he was probably guarded by a guy who is very similar in build to Mike Davis (UI) for a lot of the game... I have a few classes with EIU's center... he's awfully skinny Oh I know it was against awful competition and he won't average that. I expect 15-7 or so. Most of the MAC's big mean are 6'8" twigs so its not like he will start facing much bigger guys. Still 15-7 will one of the best starts to a career in recent years for the MAC.
  6. New polls just came out. As expected little to no change. AP Top 25 1. North Carolina (72) 1-0 1,800 2. Connecticut 1-0 1,674 3. Louisville 0-0 1,635 4. UCLA 2-0 1,475 5. 7. PreNIT gets going tonight. I get to see my Adolecent Boilers on national TV :yahoo: On another note I don't think anyone mentioned before a Ball State freshman (Jarrod Jones) had 21 pts 13 rebs 2 stls and a block in his first game Saturday. He's 6'9" and looks like he will be a dominant force in the MAC.
  8. minus the massive contract though
  9. Yeah this definitely concerns you Purdue fan. Wait around til someone says Purdue isn't a lock to be a 1 seed this year and piss your pants over it then. That's what happens when you are a journalist you are able to see everything and not have the blinders on. does that also make you unable to spell words correctly wehn I'm on a msesgae baord I colud crae less aobut spleling corerectly
  10. Didn't know and thats the end of it. As far as the results go I'm not too surprised that Gregg is the runaway although I am a little that Smardz has only two of 33 votes. I figured quite a few guys would want him to close and he would have close to as many as Marmol.
  11. Yeah this definitely concerns you Purdue fan. Wait around til someone says Purdue isn't a lock to be a 1 seed this year and piss your pants over it then. No one is a lock for a one seed even North Carolina. One injury for a week could mkae them lose two games and cost them a one seed. Purdue I would say is going to be a 2 or 3 seed but a lock to be a top 5 seed. I'm not a unrealistic fan. That's what happens when you are a journalist you are able to see everything and not have the blinders on.
  12. Let them talk now because when their team's are losing in the Big ten season they won't be saying much.
  13. Nope didn't know that. Never noticed and this is the first poll I've done. You've posted in this forum before. I don't think I ever started a thread in the poll forum before. I've posted on threads that are polls but I never look as to what forum they are in. I click new posts and post from there.
  14. Nope didn't know that. Never noticed and this is the first poll I've done.
  15. SO I just read the Purdue game recap. It makes no mention that Moore was benched for any reason other than "emergence" of freshman guard Lewis Jackson. I find that incredibly hard to believe since Moore played a lot and led the team in scoring. I'm guessing Moore did something and the team just doesn't want it getting out. On a side not Purdue set the team record for fewest turnovers in a game with three. I realize it was a crappy team but to do that in a season opener is ridiculous.
  16. It's is already a pretty hot topic and will likely be the highest debated topic all through the offseason and likely all next year so we mine-as-well get a poll started to see where the board stands. My vote goes to Gregg. Having Marmol in a setup/when we desperately need an out role I think is invaluable. Smardzija I don't think is ready (could be wrong obviously) so that leaves Gregg. Gregg isn't the best but he gets the job done (ERA was right with Wood's). Gregg had five outings all year last year where he gave up multiple runs one less than Wood. He also had a below 3 ERA in all but one month last year. That month he gave up 12 of 26 earned runs for the year. His ERA excluding that month is 2.17 which is pretty darn good. My main worry about Gregg is his K-BB ratio and his WHIP.
  17. i just don't see iowa being relevant in any big ten discussion. if it happens, i'll be extremely surprised. there are just other teams that have more going for themselves. I really think that it will be OSU and Illinois going for it in a few years. They are both going to be loaded. But, I also think that Purdue, Wisky, MSU, and even Minnesota will be pretty goodd again.s exciting to have the big ten getting good again. i think purdue is there to stay, i think msu is going nowhere, osu gets every single good player on earth, wisco will continue to contend with whomever they bring in and they're fairly loaded with incoming players, and minnesota is absolutely on their way back up in terms of recruiting. there just isn't any room for iowa at the table, although it would be good for the big ten. As much as I hate to say it Indiana will be back sometime in the next three years or so. Crean can recruit and a lot of players seem to be in on the rebuilding/restoring IU idea. As I told my roommates last year the Big Ten is ridiculous right now with its coaches especially recruiting wise. Tubby, Painter, Matta, Crean, Weber, Beilein, Izzo and Ryan are considered great recruiters and winning coaches. Crean has assembled a Top 10 class for 2009 thus far. I expect us to be a factor next season. I think you're aiming a bit too high/too soon to expect your '09 class to turn a last place team into a contender. IU should be shooting for a tourney bid next year, that's about it. And there's certainly no shame in that considering where you're coming from. That's how I see it. Normally a top 10 recruiting class makes you good enough to contend in its sophomore year but IU doesn't have the upper classman that goes with. A top 10 class added with a few good older players makes a good team. With just the recruiting class it won't be until year three IMO that you will be able to contend. By then that class is old enough to lead and few good players from the next two classes puts you in the upper part of the conference. As I see it IU is a bottom dweller this year, a lower mid team next year, and then who knows.
  18. Now that's a pretty good idea. He probably wouldn't go for it, though. Probably? Only reason he is still playing is to get to 300 wins.

  20. I don't know why Moore didn't start either but he's kicking butt. I would guess he was late to the game or a practice.
  21. I was half expecting this to be a thread about the long awaited sequel to the movie.
  22. Yeah that's truly mad *groan* the exact response I wanted and expected thanks :yahoo:
  23. Yeah that's truly mad
  24. I would think it would get way to big. a general college basketball thread will have everything from rankings argued to people posting about games. Every week I would imagine that would get to be 10 pages or so. I could be wrong though.
