  1. I was kind of hoping Kosuke would do the same
  2. Oh Ryan, it took a while but.. http://deadspin.com/5304711/the-jay-mariotti-online-express-could-be-headed-back-to-chicago
  3. how exactly does he do this? Firstly I LOVE Ryne Sandberg. Loved since 1982, and great guy in person too. However, I was told that during the process after Dusty, Ryno asked for the job. JH told him he had to manage in minors or coach before that could happen.
  4. I think that's what'll happen with Trammel as manager. to be important, more important to be nice> Yeah, I could see that, However, you get that sneaky suspicion JH would want another name manager. I hope not. I'd like to see someone lower-profile like the Red Sox did (at the time) with Francona or the Rays with Maddon. I think Tramm could fit that bill. Has there been any impressions out there of Ryno so far in his mgr career? I don't know if it's rang true in his actual managing, but to hear him talk, he seems really old school, and the type that would small ball you to death. Hmmmm. Sandberg was a pretty patient hitter, I would imagine he would value OBP.

  6. That would suck , kind of like what happended to Tram in Detroit?
  7. Exactly, it just may not be past this year.
  8. Dont know if anyone has posted this before but I thought it was funny
  9. I still see Ricketts getting it
  10. Yeah Hendry has been limked to Heilman many times. I would do this yesterday.
  11. Hey Ryan, I had Jay in talks with the Trib which happened. I wanted to report recently that he was going to AOL but Jay asked me not to report it. It's too bad, I think the Trib.com would have been perfect for both of them.
  12. From what I've heard, Ricketts and Klaff are both good guys and want to win, sports fans. So I think we are going to come out ok.
  13. Very reliable source tells me it isnt Ricketts just yet.. http://chi-ball.com/blog/2009/01/source-klaff-making-late-push-for-cubs/
  14. It is and has been Rickett's to loose since Sept. Unless something crazy happens in the next 10 days, he is your guy.
  15. The guy is a raging douche. The fact that he talks Cubs really doesn't help because he doesn't know Howry.(are we still using that?) The 1st time I met him about a month ago, I thought he isnt so bad. Then I actually had a converstaion with him, oh my he has issues. Nope, it's Veteran's Committee now. :( It's very appropo. Yeah, but it's kinda long.

  17. Swisher was Hendry's back-up plan to Fukudome last year, if that tells you anything. They could have changed their minds on him by now.
  18. Between Roberts and Peavy deals it's sucks to say I'm glad it's over one way or the other. So sick of the constant back and forth updates. :-&
  19. I think I have Jerry Hairston Jr. as one of my top 5 want a truck to run over Cubs.
  20. Hey can we pull off a normal effen trade? What is it with these 2 month Roberts/Pevy soap operas?
  21. Oh and Redflash, I totally agreed with your original point. I was just speaking to the second hand thing. I'm sure alot of these guys do reach. It seems thought that Levine and Rosenthal's stuff usually checks out.
  22. What if Bruce is busy trying to confirm these sources? This is the 24-hour news cycle and new journalism. "Confirming" sources is an anachronism. :) True, but it seems to me that Bruce will not relay any information about the Cubs and their plans, unless he gets the info straight from the horse's mouth. None of these second hand info. That is not Bruce's style. However, Ken Rosenthal and Bruce Levine are pretty good at that game. These sources are often not second hand. They are people like Kenney, Hendry, etc that just want it to not be attributed to them. I understand that. I merely said that Bruce wouldn't come on NSBB unless he has current info that is legit/confirm by people in the know. It just seems to me that Rosenthal and Levine get a grain of truth and expand it, where as Bruce would rather get the picture from the higher ups, and then best explain what is going on without burning any bridges. Yeah, Bruce is more of a beat writer/ columnist if you will for the Cubs. He will put things he has heard into a neat package so that it doesnt sound like he is revealing anything. I do know however that Levine is very connected with alot of the front office people in baseball. He gets info from clubs in exchange sometimes for info back from agents and other gm's etc.
  23. In fact, just the other day someone did an interview with Kenney about the budget. He went on and on and then at the end. Kenney wouldn't confirm the figure, but sources said it was 140 mil. How convienient.
