  1. Who do you guys think are possible options for either LF, RF or 3b if the Cubs part ways with A-Ram, and possibly Soriano?
  2. Doesn't Ramirez have a buyout ($2M) if the mutual option isn't picked up by the Cubs? The Cubs will pay the $2M instead of bringing him back for $16M. The $16M option becomes guaranteed if he gets traded. So, the Cubs simply will not trade him unless they can negotiate a deal where they're only on the hook for less than the remainder of this season plus $2M or get significant player value back that justifies the additional expenditure. I don't see either scenario as being likely. I think Ramirez is on the Cubs for the remainder of the season and then becomes a free agent. EDIT - "unless" > "if" Big difference. Ramirez deal doesnt get kicked in with trade according to Levine
  3. Levine is Hendry's mouthpiece http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/cubs-insider/2011/06/cubs-to-hold-meetings-on-clubs-future.html
  4. How do you say so many words without saying anything? Ok I guess I meant the ones Id want to move #-o
  5. And Singleton says we are stuck with everybody :( http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/cubs-insider/2011/06/interview-espns-chris-singleton-sees-little-chance-of-cubs-moving-vets.html
  6. Larkin in part 2 says Cubs have no leadership and questions Stone on Castro changing positions http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/cubs-insider/2011/06/interview-baseball-tonights-barry-larkin.html
  7. Ravech did make mention of the Boston tree, are they guys there now worth looking at Cherrington?
  8. Doesn't every team that's vaguely large market want to emulate Boston? I mean since you can't be NYY, then might as well aim for BOS. Sadly enough, I would like to emulate Milwaukee right about now You mean you'd like to see the Cubs purge their farm system in a desperate attempt to cash in at least once before all their big league talent bails? Milwaukee had one of the best farm systems a few years ago, and now it's virtually barren. Besides, Milwaukee and Chicago are two very dissimilar markets, requiring two different approaches. I really think Boston is the best example to emulate. What should make us really angry is how much of an untapped gold mine the Cubs franchise is, and how neglected it has been. I see signs the Ricketts see that and are taking the long view of this thing. We can easily be a NYY/BOS type powerhouse. I know I was kidding

  10. Anytime he wants to start would be great with me
  11. Baseball Tonight's Karl Ravech thinks Hendry gone, and says Cubs should look at Toronto as well as Boston for models http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/cubs-insider/2011/06/interview-baseball-tonights-karl-ravech.html
  12. Dont take the my hope away guys :(
  13. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/cubs-insider/2011/06/ricketts-maybe-thinking-of-overhaul-a-boston-overhaul.html
  14. Which idea/proposal has anything close to that? Didn't you get the memo? The Cubs are moving to the AL. Didnt they discuss 2 15 team leagues that would have inter-league throughout season?
  15. I kind of like it, and as a season ticket holder it's a plus to get Bos, NYY, Sox, Rays, every year.
  16. That might not be a bad idea. I can see where they won't put the 3 hole pressure on Castro yet, but he will hit his way into that spot soon.
  17. http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/chi-ball/2011/04/stone-castros-future-not-at-shortstop.html I dunno, I think maybe 3b if any move at all? I would like to see Castro play ss for a few years first
  18. . Levine is about the only reporter that JH gives info to. So I tend to trust all his stuff.
  19. Am I crazy to want Pena? second to A-Gon? Wont have to give up prospects Good glove, plus for a young SS like Castro, and possibly 3b Vitters soon.. Good clubhouse guy for young team What would everyone feel a good deal for him and season would be??
  20. Is Cashner still one pitch away from being a starter? I still have a nagging feeling without A Gon or Greinke type of move, we cant be a real threat.
  21. Stick was not a interim guy, he was hired shortly after Frey was fired. Dallas Green picked him out of the AL Red book, no joke
  22. I would bat him 3rd
  23. After those three, this team has a glut of young relief pitchers who haven't stepped forward this season. Out of Mitch Atkins, James Russell, Esmailin Caridad, Justin Berg, Casey Coleman, Thomas Diamond, Jeff Stevens, Marcos Mateo, Jeff Gray, Scott Maine, Brian Schlitter, and Jeff Samardzija, there has to be someone who doesn't suck. The Cubs are going to have to figure out what the hell they're going to do with these guys. You would think, but im not so sure #-o but Russell has shown some flashes
  24. Im not totally advocating it, I just dont trust his control and I think he would bring back something more valuable
