    So is not winning the bid for Matsuzaka and failing to resign Ramirez how were going to win the World Series? Seems like a perfectly good plan for success. If we just stay away from Arod, Soriano, and Schmidt they can just give us the trophy for next year. When this offseason is a major bust (and I have no reason to think it won't be) what will be the excuses by McDunnough and Hendry? Of course none of these things has gone down yet, but this offseason is starting to look all too familiar.

    What if the question was, "what soon-to-be free agent reliever of the White Sox should the Cubs pass on first?".

    Does this contract set any kind of standard for this offseason? It doesn't seem too crazy considering what was expected. It's obviously not a steal, but I (like many others) was forcasting a lot of severly overpaid mediocrity.

    I'll be in RF and was hoping I could get some good ideas on signs. Buck, the Cards, and Hendry should provide some great ammunition.

    Just for the record, I HATE THE FRIGGIN' WAVE!! The same jackass has been trying to start it in my section in every game of the playoffs in Detroit. I finally got a group to ridicule and belittle him until he shut up and sat down. Quite amusing.

    I cannot believe the complete disrespect in this thread shown to those who are vertically challenged. It was horrific enough when Lou said it, but to be repeated over and over (and done in addition to quoting Lou) is just mind boggling in this day and age. I am completely baffled that I am the first person to mention this atrocity. After Mr. Lyons comments that he was terminated for, so many were up in arms. I say now, where is the love for those who are vertically challenged? Do they not also deserve equal treatment? Will Lou be thrown in jail? Does Lou have violent thoughts and/or animosity towards those who are not tall? If he would so callously use the term in the middle of a press conference with everyone watching; how does he act towards height challenged people when no one is watching? This is disturbing, very troubling indeed.

    I remember the roughing the kicker call and Berrian just getting bumped off his route, but what else was there? I would say the reversal of the interception by the Bears in the first quarter was atrocious. To watch that replay and say there was CONCLUSIVE evidence that it was not an interception was insane.

    It's like watching a Cubs game managed by Dusty where each move is more stupid than the previous one. All you can do is sit there with your jaw on the floor because the stupidity is too astounding for you to even comprehend and muster a reply.

    And the #27 defense needs to play like it. This is abslutely ludicrous. I thought the Cubs season was over.

    Players cannot be expected to give 120-130% all the time. That is reserved for special occassions. It's kind of like your turbo in video games; you have to be conservative with it, or you run out and put yourself at risk. :wink:
