  1. I get to go to at least 2 playoff games now, yippee!! I was afraid it was going to be one and done.
  2. Derek Jeter invented baseball, and clutch hitting.
  3. I don't expect that Theriot can or will continue this torrid pace he's been on, especially when you look at what he did in the minors. That being said, what if FOR ONCE, the Cubs got lucky with a player that just defied the odds and performed at the major league level much better than the minors? I guess I don't know enough about scouting a player to know if this kid is real. I know it's unlikely, but the sample size keeps growing, and his numbers aare not falling off a cliff. I surely don't expect him to be the next Utley, but solid production for cheap would be wonderful. For those in the know.....What does Ryan have to do (if even possible) to win a starting job for next year? Do we just chalk this up as luck and continue to search for a 2B?
  4. Looks to me more like one guy got a bad impression about the story, then everybody downplayed the significance and he changed his mind when he found out about the prevelence of this sort of thing. No, not really. I just didn't know that other teams did this sort of thing. I thought it was a Cubs thing, as opposed to all teams do it to have fun. Isn't that exactly what Goony said?
  5. Looks to me more like one guy got a bad impression about the story, then everybody downplayed the significance and he changed his mind when he found out about the prevelence of this sort of thing. Come on. Let's not let things like facts get in the way of complaining about perceived complaining.
  6. Is this an indictment of Pierre? If so, how is it? I'm not being a smartypants; I was under the impression that runs are much like RBI in that they are not representative of an individual stat.
  7. Not that I care, but no more than 4 runs can score the rest of the game, and the Reds have to win.
  8. I still say Metallica was robbed, and nobody can convince me otherwise. By the way has anyone seen Little Miss Sunshine?
  9. Understandable. You could reverse your misery by just betting against the Cubs as I have done for most of the season. Two weeks ago the "Cubs" bought my wife and I a new flat screen for the bedroom. Once the "Cubs" start affording you new things you wouldn't normally have, the apathy goes away. Yes it is a little early to be drunk on a Friday, but I have the day off and there was no food in the house, only beer.
  10. He should be shutdown of course. I do have one question though; does every professional sports team on earth have a team chiropractor except for the Cubs? It is 2006, right?
  11. I noticed this when I went to Wrigley for the Tigers series. It was the worst I had ever seen it. I hope that feeling turns into reduced ticket sales if this offseason winds up like I imagine it will.
  12. $1400???? That article was saying like around $200 for world series tickets! The $1400 would cover all playoff games, would it not? Therefore, the price per game would be somewhere around $127. You are correct sir. That's the price for seats that go for $8 during the season. The really nice part is another friend of mine has seats in the upper deck, and they moved him to BETTER seats than he normally has. He actually is sitting in the section of my season tickets. It's comforting to know that there is absolutely no rationale to how in the hell they are assigning seats.
  13. My buddy and I who have Tigers season tickets (21 game plan) just received our invoice for playoff tickets. Our seats for the season are 3rd base side 5th row (outfield box) that cost us $24 a game per seat. We have been moved to the RF grandstands 10th row, and the price for all the games is $1400 per seat. It's beautiful. :?
  14. I would like nothing more than to see this organization start making intelligent baseball decisions.
  15. Did you think we were all too chipper and happy, and we needed to be brought down a notch?
  16. Oh yeah? Well where did Neil Armstrong go to school? That's right baby; he's a Boilermaker!!!
  17. They think everyone wants to see that crap. I'm shocked that the folks in the Midwest are actually getting the Cubs-Cards. I'm in the midwest and I'm getting Red Sox/NYY crap. Ridiculous.
  18. Sometimes sarcasm is difficult to pick up with the written word. Other times, not so much.
  19. Absolutely. If rock music doesn't exist in 500 years, I think it'll be The Beatles that are most studied of any rock group. I mean, a good many Music Schools have courses on the musicology of The Beatles music. Although, the Who will also be looked at no doubt because of the originality of "Tommy". But the Beatles did soooooooo much for the genre, and I think it's a shame that there are people here who don't consider them a Rock band. I consider them a rock band. Just a rock band that sucked.
  20. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they do have the best record in baseball by 5.5 games, right?
  21. It is very difficult to be angry with the Cubs when they have helped me so much financially this year. Today I took the Brewers and the over. Looks pretty good right now, huh? I'm thinking of selling my practice and betting against the Cubs as a career.
  22. I don't know; this seems about right.
  23. Strike zone recognition is like way cool!!!
  24. So what you're saying is the under is a pretty safe bet? It's at 8.5 by the way. Also , as far as I can tell, the wind is blowing in a bit.
