  1. They may not have put them over the top, but they did fill holes that Boston needed to fill since defense was a major concern that year. Without those two players (and Dave Roberts), I seriously doubt Boston wins the WS in 2004. 2004 UZR/150: Nomar: -15.8 Cabrera: -2.3 2004 OPS: Nomar: .842 Cabrera: .689 Was the defensive difference between the two enough to make up for the offensive gap? I doubt it. Yeah, you can throw all of these new age stats at me all you want, (you might as well be speaking Farsi), the fact is the Red Sox were a better TEAM after Nomar then they were with Nomar. Enough so the Red Sox felt they needed to make that trade. Did they actually lose out on the trade, not one bit.

  3. No suspension. No disciplinary action. Savard will miss the season. Brutal. Bill Guerin, his own teammate, said Cooke should be suspended. I believe Cooke will be slaughtered on March 18th when he plays in Boston. Every time he hits the ice, the Bruins will bring out their enforcers and handle justice accordingly if the league refuses to do anything about it. There is massive rage in Boston over this incident and a lot of angry people will attend the game hung over from Patty's day. It will be ugly. I pretty sure a day or two before the next Pitts/Boston game, Pittburgh is going to announce that Cooke has suffered an upper/lower body injury and thus will miss the game. So I wouldn't get too hype about what will happen, cause I doubt Cooke sees the ice.
  4. Soft? I challenge you to get fouled hard by Dwight Howard and come crashing down onto the hardwood and not end up with something sprained. (that's the official word on Rose, BTW. Sprained wrist, questionable return) I'm not talking about just tonight, it seems to happen all year with Rose. I know being fouled by Howard proves Rose is tough, but how about sending Howard a message and deliever a hard foul back at him? We don't have a player like that. That might have something to do with teh fact that we don't have a player with that kind of physical size. True, but we also have a team full of players that seems to shy away from physical contact, excluding Rose. For as much as the Bulls need talent on the roster, they also need to get tougher physically.

  6. Man, the Bulls are soft. And the refs are not helping.
  7. For as much as I rip on Hendry, he did get the best of that trade by far. it's just too bad Nomar's groin exploded in 2005. Talent wise, sure Hendry owned it big time, but ultimately the biggest winner of that trade was Boston.
  8. You ain't lying. That first game after the trade was, IMO, one of the most anticipated games in recent memory. Not only was it Nomar's debut but I believe Maddux was going for #300. I was really hoping Nomar would have given the Red Sox a big f you after being ceremoniously dumped for two mediocre players.
  9. I know I wasn't basing, I geniunely wanted to know.
  10. Milton Bradley is the new Carl Everett. A mindnumbling canucklehead who really should keep his mouth shut unless something intelligent can come out of it. There's a reason why Bradley is on his 9th team in his career.
  11. No offense but Jennings hasn't been "awesome" since November.
  12. There is NO award show I watch. Those shows are lower the reality tv, in my eyes.
  13. I think Bell. Peterson is likely gone, and I wasn't impressed with Wolfe.
  14. Do the Bulls even care? There is no excuse for a professional team to give up 130 points. So has this team even care? As for the draft pick swap....it won't matter as I think the Bulls will be trading the pick.
  15. Aww........Eli has Peyton's caddy.
  16. I seriously doubt Chapman will start the season in the majors. Scouts say he is very raw and does not have a secondary, nor does he have a feel for pitching. My guess is Chapman will begin in AA.
  17. The only way that happens if the Bears get a 2nd rd pick in next years draft. Otherwise, giving away Olsen late round pick does not benefit the Bears. I rather hold onto Olsen then to give him away. Bernstein thinks they'll have to trade him. If they aren't starting him, and he can't play special teams, they can't hold onto him, or so goes his reasoning. Have to trade if fine but giving away a still promising player with upside for a garbage pick, should not be tolerable. Olsen is going to help the Bears win more games in 2010 then a 5th rd pick. Whoever is offering that deal, the Bears should tell them to call back when they are serious.

  19. Any interested in Sheppard?
  20. I don't know if their demands have changed, but at the trading deadline last year they were asking for a couple arms and a few legs for Bell (I think Cameron Maybin was part of their demanded package from the Marlins). Wasn't Kevin Towers still the GM at that time? Maybe Jed Hoyer is abit easier to talk trade with then Towers.
  21. No offense but, just because the Ducks play well/tough against the Red Wings, doesn't mean they play that way against the Hawks.
  22. At leas the Bulls FO are getting a reminder as to why VDN should not brought back.
  23. Kerry Rhodes to the Cardinals from the Jets for a 4th in '10 and a 7th in '11.
