  1. Perhaps, but it could open up the possibility the Bears could trade down.
  2. Yes he it. Which is Tubberville "alledgely" order one of his "kids" to undercut Dorsey and hurt.
  3. Unfortunately, I remember him far too well from last years July 4th game when he simply dominated us. I just don't see Chico having the same kind of game. Especially if the first 21 games Cubs show back up, and not the last 2 games Cubs.
  4. I'm hoping the roll the dice on Josh Johnson the third, or Eric Ainge in the 5th. IMO, both of those QBs will be better pros the Chad Henne. I hope the Bears land Felix Jones (imagine Jones and Hester on the KO and punt return teams, WOWZAs) as the RB. And as for OL....I could see them land any of the three, Clady/Williams/Otah, so it will doesn't matter much. But I do think Angelo is going to try to hit a homerun in the draft.
  5. Is the Cedeno .v. Theriot, the 2008 version of Jason Kendall/Koyie Hill/Rob Bowen .v. Geovany Soto?
  6. Yea, I dunno. I do. Afterall, they are the Nationals.
  7. If you put everything together, I wouldn't say Drew or Soriano is better then the other. Soriano's strength, or power and good speed is offset by his mediocre OBP. Drew's strength of good OBP, solid power, is offset by his injury history. So, no I don't see either player as being better then the other. Neither are superstars, heck, neither are Top 15 players in baseball, the difference Soriano is paid like a Top 5 player, when he isn't a Top 5 player. Give me the cheaper Drew over the "supposedly" better Soriano.
  8. Crap game, which was crappily managed by our manager. But I am still confident the Cubs will win the series. Because after all, after tonight, the Nats will still remember they suck, and will get dominated by Z, and won't do much against Lilly.
  9. But hey man, he DOES play the game the right way.........that's got to count for something? Right? Right? I guess it doesn't.
  10. Those 22 games were quite fun to be a Cub fan, but it's good to see the "Old Cubs" make a reappearnce. Well, I won't say "good", but hey the Old Cubs are back...yeah...
  11. Nah, man, he ain't worthless, as long as "Lord of the Rings" is still around, Fontenot will always have a role as a hobbit.
  12. I'm very interested to see how Kerry gets a 6-run save having only pitched the bottom of the 9th. #-o uhhh...3-0 I prefer the 6-0.
  13. I'm guessing the third pitcher the Astros would ask for would be Rich Hill. I'd still do it Perhaps, but if the Cubs have to eat a majority of the contract, then it's a must the Cubs get a Ceda like prospect with Oswalt. Gallagher/Marshall and Hill is worth more to the Cubs then Roy Oswalt. If the Cubs are built to win now, then no, they aren't. But do you HONESTLY think Houston would trade Oswalt to the Cubs? I realize teams needs to stop looking at trade within their division as taboo, and start thinking it about your rival helping you LATER. Now, I would trade all three of Hill/Marshall/Gallagher. Hill or Marshall would have to be taken out of the deal, and replace with perhaps two decent prospects (Colvin and.......).

  15. Lets' not take anything away from Cook, facing a hot team like the Cubs, and his handling them very nicely, he's having a good performance. And Marquis is matching him pitch for pitch. So, something tells me this game will go to the bottom of the ninth. I really don't get it. Since when has "giving up hard hit fly balls that hitters have barely gotten under" been the same as "matching him pitch for pitch" Fine, if you want to play technicality, Marquis was matching Cook, OUT FOR OUT. Is that better? And I believe the Cubs will come back and beat Colorado. But in the case they don't, splitting with them, is not all bad.

  17. I don't really get this move. They have Sweeney/Cust, and Barton at the 1st/DH, so adding Thomas, IMO, doesn't make too much sense. It won't hurt the A's, but unless Thomas gets hitting, it doesn't make sense.
  18. I agree. Piniella gets a mulligan for his "game" tonight, and I am hoping this willbe one of his worst nights as manager this season. Besides, the Cubs should look for a RH version of Darlye Ward as soon as possible. Unless Murton shows some pop, he is pretty much useless to the Cubs.
  19. Serioiusly? After 3 weeks of the season we have changed our minds and Theriot is acceptable? There is no way that anyone can say that the past 20 games have changed anyones true talent. Thats ridiculous. With Cedeno also on the roster, Lugo is not needed as much. I would do that trade, provided the Cubs could flip Lugo to another team.
  20. We are going to win this game. The Cubs SHOULD be able to get to their middle of the order, one more time in the 9th inning. With Soto/Cedeno/Ward (<-pinch hitter)/Johnson/Theriot/Lee coming up in the next two innings, I'm pretty sure the Cubs will beat the Rockies.
  21. I still think the NFL should have stripped the Pats of the 7th pick, instead of their own pick, when the punishment was handed down. Stripping the Pats of the Top 10 pick would have hurt more then stripping them of the 30ish pick.
  22. It goes to show that there are plenty of Brewers fans who clearly don't know anything about baseball. They're trying to get a "built-in excuse" ready as to why they won't win the division. NM it maybe simply because the Cubs are perhaps a better team? No-no that can't be to Brewers fans, it must be because the Cubs are "lucky."
  23. A lot of it could be attributed to Fukudome and Johnson. Lee has always seen a lot of pitches. Lee + Fukudome + Johnson = seeing a lot more pitches. And Soto. And DeRosa. And Cedeno Don't forget ARam. He is seeing over 4 pitches per AB. Last time ARam saw more the 4 pitches per AB was his rookie yr of 1998.
  24. Drew's contract is off the books by 2011. Soriano's contract is off the books by 2014. Injury prone or not, Drew has a shorter contract, thus IMO would have more value to the Cubs, then a semi-productive healthy Soriano.
