  1. I notice this game is on FOX. I wonder what the chances are that the Cubs/Cards game will get the biased commentating of Buck/McCarver? :-k
  2. That being said, putting him in the pen would be stupid. We need him as a starter this season. If he has to be removed, then let him start in Iowa until he finds his control. Agreed. Move Hill back to AAA, call up either Cotts or Gallagher, and put Lieber or Marshall in the rotation.
  3. Can we please remind the Cards they suck. Even with ARam on the bench, the Cubs should blow these bums away...Oh wait....that is unless Soriano decides he wants to give them extra outs.
  4. This team was playing really well, when they knew Soriano would be gone for awhile, but when they realize he was close to coming back, they decide the 2007 Cubs would return, and this team would return to medocrity. If Soriano going to play, can we atleast make him hit 8th, where his "skills" are perfectly suited for?
  5. What exactly has Howry done to warrant this? He's pitched just fine. watch many games this year, dude? You criticize Howry when he doesn't pitch well, you don't criticize Howry when he pitches well, and Soriano can't catch a dang cold, much less a baseball. So back off Howry, for tonight's game.
  6. Am I the only one who believe there is strong chance that after this such OUTSTANDING DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE by Soriano, the Piniella will sit Soriano for tomorrow's game? Piniella is not one to let contracts dictate how and when a player plays. I would be disappointed if Soriano is in the game tomorrow.
  7. True, but no teams are trading right now, unless the Brewers are willing to grossly overpay.
  8. What I don't get is why the Bears are not considered "contenders" and yet Minnesota is? Both should have outstanding Defenses (if anybody remembers, the Bears have the CORE OF THEIR DEFENSE back again. Even tho they struggled under Babich the 1st yr, I expect major improvement in yr 2.). Both have questionable offense. Minnesota has basically a RB, and nothing else. Berrian won't be effective, as long as Jackson can't complete a pass over 10 yrds. Even tho he isn't great, but I take my chances on Grossman and his recievers over Jackson and his recievers. There is not one team in the NFC North, I fear. In fact, my bold predeiction will be...the Bears winning the division by two games. This is not true. The biggest difference between the 2 teams is that Minnesota has a good, solid, proven O-line, something that remains a big question mark for the Bears. They will be able to run the ball and just hope Jackson can be "good enough" to get them some wins. That's true, but you counter that with APete being the ONLY offensive option, and it becomes a wash, about their line. I have a feeling that Minny will play ALL THREE QBs next yr.
  9. Who didn't see this coming after his performance on Wednesday? I actually felt bad for him, when he couldn't find the srikezone. With that said, I believe Detroit would be a decent landing spot for him.
  10. This sucks for the Brewers. As a Cub fan, I can't help but think the Cubs got a break, but as a person, I can't help but to feel bad about the kid luck. On top of it....they brought up Dave Bush to replace Gallardo. If I was a Brewers fan, I would be holding my breathe every time Ben Sheets takes the mount, cause if Sheets goes down, the Brewers season is over.

  12. I wonder if the Wilits for Wuertz would be in connection with the Pie/Greene rumor that has circulated.
  13. After today's performance, I wonder if the Cubs can find a way to put Soriano back on the DL.
  14. So, I leave for work about quarter tol 4 today. Ok, the Cubs had just gotten out of the top of the 8th, with a 3-1 lead. bI felt REASONABLY confident that all Wood has to do is go 1-2-3. So, at work, I was thinking about watching the Cubs win after work tonight, and look forward to watching Z'man's homerun in the 3rd. So it's almost 8:30 (I'm at my 2nd job) and I am logging on to check in with you guys and get in on the nice series win. But the FIRST thing I see on NSBB, is the video "Lou Piniella gets fired up after loss." And I am hoping against hope, that this was a replay after the first game of the series....but then as I read the last 2-4 pages of the thread, I realize KW blew the game, and the Cub fell to the Brewers AGAIN at home. It's one thing to lose home series, it happens, but NOT to your chief rival for the division crown,a nd certaintly not back to back series. And what makes matters even more depressing, the Cubs lost a start by Z, who pitched pretty well. To say the rest of the night at work, I will be bummed, it an understatement. This is what I get for being a Cub fan, and being confident with the Cubs having the lead in the 9th. No more. I don't care if the Cub shave a 10 run lead in the 9th, I will never again feel comfortable with the lead in the 9th again. WTH realization is.....we don't get another opportunity at these punks, till July (the 2nd half), and they don't come back to Chicago till September. The Cubs have to sit on the back-to-back home series loss to the Brewers for over 2 months before they play 'em again. The truth is....WE ARE better then the Brewers. The moment the Cubs players believe that fact, will be the moment the Brewers will realize they won't win the division. The Cubs need to come out and beat the crap out of St. Louis.
  15. As much as I love Carlos Marmol, and as much I see All Star on him, I almost prefer him not to make the AS Team, if for nothing else, he will definately need those three days off.
  16. I think Yost not taking out Gallardo is more of a product of not going to the pen, TOO EARLY, instead of taking Gallardo out too early. One way or the other, I believe the 6th will be Gallardo's last innings. And here's to the Brewers bringing Turnbow in.......... Yost.
  17. I want Cuban, but more importantly, I don't want the new owner with any direct ties to Bud Selig at all. No "cronies", no "friends from way back", blah, blah, blah. But my problem is...Jerry Reinsdorf is going to do his darndest to stay in Selig's ear about Cuban, and try to keep Mark out of MLB. That's my fear.
  18. The Cards have proven they can win in the past with less talent, where Baker has proven he can screw up a team with more talent. I am becoming more worried about them with every passing day. Still expect them to have a rough stretch soon enough though that will put them back too far. Steve Stone mentioned that pitchers are usually ahead of the hitters in April, once the weather becomes consistently warmer I believe the "magic" of Dave Duncan will wear off. Wellemeyer, Lohse, Looper will all come back down to Earth. I agree. the lack of talent will eventually catch up with the Cardinals.
  19. Link Seriously though, Tebow in the top 10 is a joke. http://nfldraft.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=802821 No Vontae Davis...he could be the top corner in next year's draft. Oh, and Andre Smith is too low at 19. And I like Marks, I think he'd be a great prospect. Still, fun to see a year in advance. Andre Smith is an incredible talent for OL, and rivals saying he has battle controlling his weight is spot on. In fact there are people on Saban's staff, and among Alabama's fans (including the most knowledgeable about the talent) who fully believe Andre Smith will be a Guard at the NFL level. So 19th overall may not be too low for Smith.
  20. Outside of Sheets/Gallardo, the Brewers don't have the pitching talent to win the division by 5 games (as of right now, neither does the Cubs). IMO, the Brewers bullpen will cost the Brewers alot of games this yr. The Brewers still look like a 85-87 win team, but a team the Cubs should outlast for the division.
  21. You want to know why? He's the actual quote made by Jerry Angelo: Said Angelo: In other words....no QB, outside of Ryan, proved to be a significant upgrade over what the team already has. To take a QB, because that is viewed as a "need", when it's really not, would be doing a disservice to the team. Take RB who will play immediately, or a QB who will sit for two yrs, and isn't really an upgrade of Grossman/Orton. Give me, the RB who will play, and provide a upgrade over the current RBs, over a QB, who would be at best a equal QB in terms of talent. Angelo wasn't impressed with any of the QBs, so why force youself to take a QB, when there is a player you want is still available. If there was a QB they wanted who was available, and still didn't take (the closest was JD Booty), I would be dissapointed. So, taking a QB, because everybody is "screaming" for you to is ridiculous. If Angelo listened to the fans, then the Bears would have ended with with a Leonard Pope, Mercedes Lewis, over Greg Olsen. I'm going to trust Angelo on this one.
  22. Of course, 6 in a row is the state of actual football in Alabama, no? Against a program who was struggling with probation, plus an inferior coach? A full team of talent .v. a half team of legit talent? Not too surprise. With that talent coming up for 2008 and 2009, I very confident that #7 won't go into the books.
  23. and we have a third contestant... W/E man..........I don't like to be "panic'd", and usually I'm not, but the Brewers just seem to bring it out....
  24. The Cubs simply cannot lose a 2nd straight home series to the Brewers. They MUST kick the crap out of Suppan tomorrow. The Cubs must win the next two.
