  1. Well nobody ever said a Mets fan had ay working brain cell. I wonder if that is the same Met fan who said that he would take "Johan/Ollie and Pelfrey over Z/Harden and Dempster." I just think the Mets fans are trying to convince themselves they are in the Cubs league, but the reality is....the Cubs are in a different league then the rest of the National League.
  2. It wouldn't surprise me if thursdays game replaces the Astros game as the make up for the Cubs. Seeing as I believe the Astros will be eliminated before then, and the Mets will still have a shot at the playoffs. In either case, I expect Lou would trot out the standard "scrub lineup" cause his obligations to the Cubs are of higher priority to the org, then playing the the last game with his regular because of the "integrity of the game" cliche. I hope they play it tomorrow, but it wouldn't surprise me if the eventually switch the Astros game with the Mets as themake up..
  3. That what I trying to steer the conversation back to. I made my peace about the Twins and moved on.....
  4. The umpiring isn't as bad as getting swept to a team who was 2.5 games behind with 6 games left to play. And Z forgot how to throw strikes again. I belive this is the post Red Flash was looking for. Other guy said that the Twins werent that good. Sorry LLF, that's not it. I saw it in a glore post, not yours. My bad on misquoting you.
  5. Whatever..............BACK TO THE CUBS GAME, shall we............
  6. Ahem...........back to the Cubs game.
  7. when people are putting down a team like the Twins as being "not good", I just naturally assume people are calling them a bad team. nobody said "not good" either what in the world is with all these made up "quotes" Wrong. LLF said "losing to a team like the Twins, who isn't all that good" kinda of implies he believes they are not good. ANyway, back to the Cubs game.........

  9. They are down 3-1. I'm sure Hawk isn't even announcing. The frustrating part has to be losing to a Twin team that isn't all that good. Except the fact that Twins are a really good team. The are 2 games off their PYthagorean Record...So it's not as if they are flukes. Twins are a really good team, prolly better then the White Sox, who coincendentally are playing right were they should be. So don't underestimate the Twins. I guess, the thing about them isn't their Pythagorean, its that they are scoring runs with a really really bad offense. They trot out the likes of Nick Punto, Carlos Gomez, Alex Casilla, just limitless amounts of mediocre to bad players. The only 2 everyday players with OPS's over .800 is Morneau and Mauer Admittedly, the Twins offense is based on potential, Young, Castilla and Gomez most notably, but you don't challenge for a division title, and are 15 games over .500 because your a "bad team." The Twins are a good team, regardless of how they have done it.

The are 2 games off their PYthagorean Record...So it's not as if they are flukes. Twins are a really good team, prolly better then the White Sox, who coincendentally are playing right were they should be. So don't underestimate the Twins. Neither one of them is very good. You're not 14-15 games over .500 because your "not good." The Twins are a good team with solid talent.

  12. Does anybody actually think Oliver Perez and the Mets bullpen will hold a 4 run lead? Cause I don't.
  13. CC said immediately after joining the Brewers, that he would give the Brewers 100% till the end of the season. Meaning he would do what it takes to get into the playoffs, even if that means going on short rest. I think CC feels and obligation to get the Brewers into the playoffs considering what they gave up to get him.
  14. No offense, but you're worried about an essentially a 1 pitcher team in Milwaukee? No offense ElCaballo, but as mentioned, Gallardo hasn't pitched in a ML game since May. Sheets is injured and could miss the rest of the season. Which leaves on CC Sabathia, who hasn't exactly been impressive against the Cubs in his 2 starts against them this yr. Any possible rotation for the playoffs for the Brewers would CC/Suppan/Bush with hopes that Sheets can go. So, like a few others, I don't buy into your anxiety against the Brewers.
  15. Man, was this a desaparation game for the Mets or what? Leaving in Santana to throw 125 pitches is a team that is desparate to win as many games as possible. To be honest, the Cubs should easily win the next two games to cancel out this game. And with Z and Harden, the Mets would be lucky to get another game in this series. I'm with the rest of ya'll, in that i feels great not to be concern about a loss. The Cubs got decent success against Santana (making him throw 120 pitches, means they were working him, and imo that is considered a success) and now they can smoke both Pelfrey (or perez whoever is going) and Pedro the next two days, to which I will enjoy watching the NY media swallow the Mets alive.
  16. I wasn't. Fun fact: Dave Magadan is Lou Piniella's cousin.
  17. Lou's obligation is to the Chicago Cubs first and foremost. If a situation occurs where the Cubs have to play the Astros for the final game of the yr, I pretty sure Lou is going to rest his "postseason roster".
  18. Not me. I want thost jerks watching the playoffs at home. With that said, it would surprise no one if the White Sox are swept by the Twins, which I expect.
  19. Hey Cubs, If you can beat CC Sabathia you can beat Johan Santana...So....do it..
  20. I thought we already had Brad Snyder in the organziation. Sam Fuld.....anyone?
  21. I thought Santo don't make trips to New York anymore, or was I wrong in that belief?
  22. Odd fact about the Mets starting pitcher tonight, Jon Niese: Do you know that Jon Niese was born the on the same night the New York Mets clinched the 1986 World Series, October 27, 1986.
  23. I still say McFadden should have won the Heisman over Tebow last year, but I don't think that makes me delusional in favor of the SEC. :D What people who don't follow the SEC don't know is that Tim Tebow is an incredibly overrated player. Not to mention he's just about the only offensive player Urban Meyer will trust with the ball (even tho he does have Percy Havin). The simpliest truth is the Darren McFadden has been the SEC best offensive player for 2 yrs in a row, an you can make the case he's been college football best offensive player for 2 yrs. In other words.....McFadden was last yr's Heisman Trophy Winner. The only reason why he didn't win it, is because he played for Arkansas, not some school like Florida.
  24. I like Marshall getting a start, and I hope he does well, and gets a spot on the postseason roster. I don't think there is another player who goes more underrappreicated then Marshall.
