  1. Its true, but he wasnt exactly facing our best hitters that half inning either... And when he did face the Cubs "best", they weren't exactly trying hard either. CC .v. apathetic offense=not surprise of 8IP of 1 run ball.
  2. Apathy sucks. I know they wouldn't be in "playoff mode" in this game, but the Cubs seem to want to quickly end this game. Show some fire, at least.
  3. Not bad, vance, but after watching the GA/Bama game there are still some major holes on Alabama, like their special teams. So it wouldn't surprise me if the new Top 5: 1: OU 2: Missouri 3: Bama 4: LSU 5: PSU It hard's for me to put Bama at #2, because of the choke job they had last yr. So I'm hoping they don't free fall like they did last yr. Right now, I do see Missouri and OU being better teams then Alabama, but it wouldn't surprise if that gap doesn't significantly close before the end of the yr. don't be a pity fan. I thought you weren't going to post in this thread anymore. You literally told us today that never again would you discuss college football with us, yet here you are. First: That was hours ago, and I calm down quite a bit since then. I am more rationale and thinking clearly. I got my tantrum out of my system. (And yes I already know I am a spaz especially when it comes to college football) Second: I am not being a pity fan, there were times where I was flat out pissed at Bama. I know GA was the #3 team in the Nation, but you have a chance to go for "the kill" you don't allow them to score 17 unanswered points. Not to mention, despite playing well in the first half, Bama's d played awfully soft in the 2nd half, not to mention they seems to have lost focus for about 1 quarter. The D better be lucky the O put up 31 points on GA, otherwise Alabama D would have been shreeded to pieces. Right now, IDK if Bama is a the #2 team in America. Top 5, yes, top 2..............stretching it slightly. And with a Kentucky team that is undefeated and an Ole Miss that is coming off an upset of Florida, Alabama has no time to rest. Come back to me after the Ole Miss game and I would let you know if Alabama is the 2nd best team in America. Otherwise, even tho they are not significantly better then Bama, I do think Mizz is still better then Bama, hence the reason why I put them #2. Which means, it wouldn't surprise me if Mizz/Bama meet in a major bowl game this yr. And what about the performances of two of the conutry's best WR's, AJ Green and Julio Jones. These two (along with Crabtree, Deandre Brown of Ole Miss, and perhaps Boldin of Ill) are going to fit for the title of "best WR in America." And third: I would not mind Matt Stafford as the next Bears QB.

  5. You know what, I will continue to talk college football, just not on this board, seeing as there are some pity fans. I'll just go to a college football board who knows what they are talking about. I will remain on NSBB to talk Cubs baseball, only.
  6. I'm pretty sure after the 2006 World Series nobody thought the Cardinals were the best team in baseball. But they're still hanging the banner. I'm pretty sure after the Michigan game that Michigan were the winners and Florida were the losers. No matter how many times Florida wins if the game was replayed it doesn't matter, Michigan won. Did I ever say that wasn't true? Well what's the point of saying Florida is better. Bama boy went on his standard rant and made a ridiculous remark about a Michigan team that beat Florida last year, and you follow it up saying Florida was the better team. What are you getting at? I said Michigan won the game, but you keep eyeing in on the word "barely." So what. Michigan won the game, Florida didn't so be it. But it doesn't change the fact that Florida was better team, they didn't play like it. I congradulated Michigan fans when the game was over, and I didn't hold anything on Michigan. So whatever this "rant" you are talking about SSR is only in your mind, my friend. I never said the better team should have won the game, I said Michigan barely won the game, and looking at the score of the game (41-35) maybe barely is too strong of a word, but Michigan had to hold onto the game. So whatever problem you have with me, just dropped it. Michigan won despite being the 2nd best team on the field. So, move on SSR.......OR don't. I don't care. Just stop dragging my name though the mud.
  7. Which would beg the question: Is a two loss SEC team better then a 1 loss Non-Sec team? Anybody who knows my conference loyalty knows the answer to that question. But I will say it would also depend on who the non-Sec team is. But if LSU proved last yr is that a 2 loss SEC team was better clearly better then what the Big 10 had to offer (and Michigan had to hang on against Florida). Right now the NT game would be Oklahoma and........whoever survives at the end of the season. But we know things should and will change between now and Jan. What a ridiculous all-encompassing question. Love that Michigan had to "hang on" against Florida. Nevermind, that EVERYONE said Florida was clearly superior to Michigan. And then they lost. But I'm sure this game is just proof of the SEC's superiority that even your bad teams are top 20 caliber. Not that Florida is being taken to the wire against a mediocre team. I think the real question is should an 8 loss Mississippi St. Team get a BCS bid instead of another conference winner? I don't appreciate the mocking SSR so cool it. I was asking a question based on what bukie said about the SEC. That is not a question I would ask out the blue. (Because I know Big 10 homers would not like the answer but in their hearts know it to be true) I was asking a simple question in reference to a previous post. And the answer still holds true...Michigan last yr while a good team, still barely hung on and beat the Gators regardless of what Big 10 homers say. And my opinion still is...a 2 loss SEC team is better then 90% 1 loss no SEC teams. If you can't deal with it, that's your problem. I would take Alabama/Georgia/LSU/Florida against other conferences best teams anyday of the week. So save your mocking for your fellow Big 10 fans, or whichever conference holds your loyalty.
  8. I don't think the Brewers would have any choice in that matter. If they don't use CC tomorrow (if they lose today) and they fall short of the playoffs by one game then the Brewers would be criticized all offseason. You either use CC and possibly win (remember CC hasn't look all that great against the Cubs, so let's not assume he would even bet the Cubs on Sunday) on Sunday and forced the 1 game playoff, or not use CC and possibly miss the playoffs by one game. IMO, the Brewers have to use CC tomorrow.

  10. This makes no sense. Clinch...but play like you haven't. Guh? I assuming the Cubs are thinkg they can simply "flip the switch" and be ready for the playoffs. I didn't mind the "Spring Training type" atmosphere the last several games, but against the Brewers and so close to the playoffs, I believe the intensity level should be at playoff level. I don't like this "we play casual because we already clinch early" attitude. Why isn't that plausible to you? They have nothing to play for, other than not wanting to see the Brewers celebrate a WC berth, so the intensity is obviously lacking some. When the get back to Chicago, in a playoff game, in front of 42k people, they'll be an entirely different team. I hope so.

  12. I'm not going to go all "the sky is falling" but before tonight, I would have said let the "playoff team" play two games this series and then rest them on the season finale. But with the way this team has played the last week, I say don't rest your playoff starters, they need to get this "casual crap" out of their system now, of the Cubs will be out of the playoffs very quickly. The Playoffs are too close for the Cubs to continue to play as casual as they have. I hope Lou nails into them after the game.
  13. If baserunning blunders was the end all to making a playoffs, then Ryan Theriot shouldn't be on the roster. Hoffpauir pulled a brain fart, but I still prefer him over Ward in the playoffs.
  14. I hope you are being sarcastic....cause the Twins are nowhere near being the "dumbest org in pro sports."
  15. Being melodramatic, aren't we? There are few people in this world I wouldn't mind be adotped by, and Ernie Banks is one of them. This man still believes he can impart some knowledge and wisdom to a young child even at his age. More power to him. Look I will high five every "loving" adoptive parent in the world, because it takes some cajones to take anothers man seed and raise it as your own, but when someone as old as Ernie Banks (and in generally it doesn't have to be Ernie Banks, older person would suffice) adopts a young child its wonderful. This world is full of negativity, cubbiebum, please don't add negativity to a wonderful story. Cause the young child will be loved by Ernie and his wife, and will have opportunities that most of us would love to have. And isn't that what we want from childs who need to be adopted; to go to a family---regardless of age---that will love the child?
  16. What gets me is the fact that the Cubs EASILY could have swept this series. I don't like blowing a 2 run lead late in a game---even if it's a meaningless game---because that crap can be contagous, just ask the Mets. But all in all, this was more of a disappointing split for the Mets then the Cubs.
  17. Do you know that Micah in Hebrew means, "who is like god."
  18. I noticed that too. A lot of screams, groans, and moans. Come on Micah, hit another one! Wouldn't you make those same sounds if you had to watch a "professional baseball game" at Shea Stadium?
  19. ](*,) this is good, i think the white sox will beat the crap out of the ray rays I like the Rays, mainly because a majority of the players on this team came through Montgomery (Upton/Longoria/Shields/Sonnastine/Price, etc, etc) and all were/are nice enough guys who spent time chatting with the locals. So I have no qualms with the Rays. With that said, the White Sox can't even beat the Twins (who they are on par with), much less beat the Rays. Let's put it this way, I would be totally surprise if the White Sox won one game in a potential series against the Rays. That's how overmatch the WS would be going against the Rays. How can you guarantee a sweep of the Ryas by the White Sox, when the WS are not even guaranteed to even be in the playoffs by this time Monday? Personally, I think the White Sox are going to choke, losing the division title on the last day of the yr. Cause you know both the Indians and the Tigers---of who the WS still has a make up game they could play if the title is on the line---would love nothing else to put Ozzie Guillen and the annoying WS on their butts for October. i understand that line of thinking, i really do, it is the popular line of thought and not at all incorrect in its logic but...it is my call for the upset of the first round rays are swept out of the playoffs

  21. Harden lack of velocity doesn't coincide with the fact that he has pitched the most innings since 2004? Not to mention 2006 was the last time he pitched in September. So I will write it off as someone who is pitching into new territory.
  22. He can't do that. The Cubs would certainly fight it if Selig tries to steal a game from them in the playoffs. With that said, if the Cubs have to play either the Mets or Astros on Monday, the Cubs would most certainly send a team to either place, just not players like ARam/Lee/Soriano, etc, etc. The Cubs would send essentially their AAA roster to face either team.
  23. Yea... all that isn't going to happen. if it does get PPD...then they will have to play monday though They may or may not have to. Depends what happens in the rest of the games. Probably will need a makeup Monday, though. Oh man. This is setting up for a veritable explosion of hysteria among Crew fans. Mets 1/2 game up on the Crew. It's Monday the 29th. Lou fields a team consisting mostly of our bench, the Mets win, and Milwaukee goes nuclear. Yeah, well, Lou's obligation is to the health of the Cubs, not the happiness of the Brewers. And I believe the Cubs should flat out refuse to go to either game, even if it results in a automatic loss. A unnecessary road trip right before the playoffs, is not something the Cubs, need to be interested in doing.
