  1. No way man, you got to follow LSU's former coach, don't cha vance? I keed, I keed...
  2. I don't know why but when I see a Moyer-Bush I get the girly giggles. Some like the Harden/Wood. I like Moyer/Bush. Don't know why I like the names together...
  3. Exactly. Don't win this for Cubs fans, or their grandfathers, or whatever or whoever you want to win for. Nobody but the 25 men who play the game, should only want to win it for the guy who they sit next to. The guys you battle through 162 games of up and down. Winning and losing streaks. Day and night games. And doubleheaders and 4 games in 3 night scheduling. Do it fo the guy who comes into work at 8 am and leaves the job hours after the game is over. Do it for the guys who works hard even tho it doesn't look like he's trying hard, and he gets rip in themedia. Most importantly, do it for yourself. No fans, no matter the age or health, or race or IQ level goes through what each and every ballplayer goes through in a professional season. Win it because you've play baseball long enough that you should be at the top of the pinnacle. Do it for youself. Each player deserves to be call "the best" if for one shining moment in their lives. The fans, the love, the celebration are fun and a nice perk to winning, but do it to reach the top of your profession. That's all I ask.
  4. In the words of one Jake Taylor: "Win the whole frakkin' thing."
  5. You know who can play OF? Chipper Jones. You know who else has a more gimpy hamstring then Aramis Ramirez? The same Chipper Jones. Chipper missed alot of games this yr because of his hamstring, no way would I want him playing the OF.
  6. Who is currently shacked up with Mark Grace..........but her voice is reaching the right pitch as we speak.....
  7. I loved this article. Whoever said winning our first world series in 100 years was going to be easy? If we win tomorrow, I'm going to be really excited about this team again. I like the fact that a non-Chicago media based writer still believes the Cubs can get there and win (and I do believe Kornheiser also is still on the bandwagon) but right now, I find it hard to get excited about this team. People can spew out stories how this team is "pissed" and all that and how they could do the UNPOSSIBILITY, but's let's face the Cubs don't have the history of coming back. Do the Cubs have the 84 Padres in them? Or the 86 Red Sox? Or the 04 Red Sox? Right now, I don't see it, and I will remain confident that by this team next week, we will be dissecting how the Phillies destroyed the Dodgers. The Cubs history has jack Howry to do with us coming back or not. Sure, if you believe that then I got property about 90 miles south of Miami you might be interested in. This team has shown very little when faced with real adversity. (Regular season doesn't coount) This team---90% the same---faced the same situation last yr, and look what happen. So, yes I do think the Cubs history will play a part---if for nothing else it gets in the heads of the players---in whether or not the Cubs can come back. Real or not.

  9. I predict Rich Harden will throw a no-hitter tonight...............:)
  10. I've tried the optimistic thing, now I am doing the pessimistic thing. In the words of the Cleveland Indians groundscrew in "Major League": "This team is Howry." Oh and Dempster.....you're preseason prediction of the Cubs winning the world series, is going to fall just a little short.
  11. I'm glad that one team realizes the playoffs are underway.....too bad it's the wrong team.
  12. Not even close You're delusional. No offense to you personally. But he's not wrong. There are WORSE run franchises in pro sports....like the Oakland Raiders, Detroit Lions, New York Rangers, New York Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, etc, etc. So the Cubs are clearly not as bad ( tho there not overly great, either) as you claim it to be, Jeff. Oops....my bad, meants Knicks not the Lakers...

  14. I'm not ready to give up on this game, but even my tolerance/optimism level is draining by the scoreless inning.
  15. Damnit, didn't you know that posting stats that favors the Cubs always jinxes them? Nothing recent has work with Soriano, so maybe a jinx will........I just hope the real life Pedro Serreno comes to life for the Cubs.
  16. I wonder if Piniella, Rothschild and/or Soto are stressing this fact to Z today............
  17. The league is hitting in certain counts against Billingsley: 0-0: .329/.333/.400/.733 1-0 .328/.333/.557/.891 2-0 .381/.381/.571/.952 2-1 .432/.432/.614/1.045 3-1 .357/.791/.500/1.291 Billingsley is definately the kind of pitcher that can get Soriano going: 0-0 .414/.424/.776/1.200 1-0 .465/.455/.767/1.222 2-0 .500/.500/1.250/1.750 I hate to say it, but I want to see Soriano going up there ready to swing the bat.
  18. Last night was a spectuar waste of everybodies time, this is true. Now I know the stats say that teams that win Game 1 of the NLDS wins the series 23 of 26 times, but guess what, I think we'll see this stats worsen by the end of the series. I think Z will be on his game and will dominate the Dodgers. But seeing as their will be a alot of anxiety in the ballpark tonight, I suggest to the Cubs to score early and score often, and get the fans feeling good about the team. Cause as the innings go by and the Cubs don't score/are not leading the more pressure they'll feel. So I am going to say, the Cubs come out and score 5 runs in the first off Bills, and cruised to an easy 9-1 victory, with Z going 7IPs and giving up 1 run. Z also homers with 2 on. So Cub fans, grab your favorite lame baseball cliche and get optimistic, cause like the Red Sox did o his Yankee team, the Cubs will come back and sweep the Dodgers. Cause I am a believer that the best team whens the series, and there is no way the Dodgers (even with Manny Ramirez) is better then the Cubs.
  19. You think Lilly beats Lowe in game 4? Doubt it. The way I see it: Harden probably beats Kuroda, and Lowe probably beats Lilly. That means we need to beat Billingsley twice. I think so, because by the time the Cubs face Lowe for a 2nd time, the Dodgers will be on the verge of elimination, and the season will be on his shoulders. So yes, I do think Lilly (and Dodger stadium is a perfect park for him) will beat Lowe when we get to that point.
  20. I agree. The Dodgers are pretty much done scoring for the game, and I definately see the Cubs coming back and winning this game. This first two games are the Cubs games, period. The Cubs will not lose home field advantage.
  21. We will win this game, despite Dempster. Lowe and the Dodgers (coughs) up this lead pretty next innings.
  22. It's really nice. I'd like to get one of those line-shot HR from Aramis Ramirez tonight. Preferably with 3 men on base....
  23. Jumping Julio Zuleta!!!!!!!!!!Cubs are doing their damdnest to make sure this is "THE YEAR", ain't they?
  24. I agree for the most part. I think Kentucky much like Tennessee and Ole Miss for Alabama the next two weeks will be trap games for Bama. As much as I respect Rich Brooks, the only area of the game that Kentucky needs to exploit to keep this game in check is the Special teams. Offensively, I think Alabama is going to push Kentucky's front four around like rags, maybe not early, but eventually they will. Kentucky's offense is much like the Chicago Bear's offense in that they need their special teams to set them up, cause quite frankly Kentucky has essentially no offensive players of note. If Alabama defense can keep forcing 3 and outs on Kentucky and forces Kentucky's D to play more then they should then this game will get out of hand quickly. Add in the fact that Bryant Denny Stadium is going to be rocking this Saturday, I think you might see (let me stress MIGHT SEE) Kentucky rattled at the beginning of the game. Ultimately, I think Kentucky gives Alabama heck of a fight, but their lack of offense hurts them in the end. Alabama 31 Kentucky 7
