    Washington would tell the Bulls who to take. The risk here is what happens if the deal breaks down and dies? Then the Bulls are basically stuck with a prospect that they prolly would not have drafted in the first place. So......(knocks on wood).

    That's the million dollar question. If Orlando deal is still good, I wouldn't be opposed to the Deng for Pietrus/Gortat deal. I don't know if he gets dealt today/tonight, but after seeing the Bulls possibly unload Hinrich, nothing would surprise me.

    Yeah, but he's the kind of player Larry Bird wants.... As for the TJ Ford part of the rumor, I suspect he would be flipped to another team.

    Wait.........wut? :shock: I love Kane and all, but who can justify putting Kane over Crosby? Not to mention as a center? I could buy to a certain degree Jonathan Toews, but Patrick Kane? IDK.

    Says you. It makes for interesting chat, trying to figure out Versteegs value. I do agree that a 1st is overpayment for Versteeg, but the Hawks got a first for Buff and he's less talented then Versteeg and they were abe to get a 1st and a2nd for him. So who knows, maybe Vancouver is subscribing the theory of "if you can't beat them, get them to join you."

    I totally agree. Some of the posters on HFBoards are noting that Buff could be the "face of the franchise" given that he's a black player in Atlanta. Aliu too, to a smaller extent. Setting aside the oversimplicity of the racial component to this, Buff isn't cut out to be the face of any franchise. That's not his thing. He will not carry the load for anyone, and especially not for a bad team. Without motivation, he will disappear on the ice. Agreed. There are very few people that actually wanted to see Buff go, but those people knew someone had the go and it was the one who is already maxed out his potential. As Rosenbloom mentioned in his blog that Buff played well when he had a shot at the US team (I still maintain, he should have made it), but as soon as he didn't make it his play tailed off. This tells me that Buff plays when it benefits himself. I hope he does well in Atlanta, but something tells me he isn't going to be nearly as good on the Thrashers.

    I don't think it's a good deal at all for them. As much as I appreciate Buff's play in the playoffs this year I don't think theres anyway I'd give up a 1st round pick for him (even with the other 3). I certainly wouldn't give up a 1st and essentially two 2nds for them. I think they got robbed. To be fair, ATL only gave up a useful bottom 6 forward and top 3 prospect in their system. The picks they got from NJ for the Kovaluchuk (sp?) dea. So ATL may have felt they were playing with house money with the NJ picks. I agree with you, tho. Giving up a 1st and a 2nd for Buff, and that is what this deal basically is, was not a great deal for Atlanta.

    Good trade, imo. Everybody on HFboards thought the Hawks were crazy to be asking for a 1st rd pick and a prospect for Buff. Guess those folks are crowing now. (Let's face it the deal, IMO, the deal was 1st/2nd for Buff, and then Eager/Sopel for Reasoner/prospect, in terms of value). I have to believe with the additional first and second rd picks that the Hawks will either try and trade up, or use these additional picks to entice anothr to take either Huet or Campbell off their hands. I really like this trade. Getting a 1st and 2nd in any deal for Buff is a surprise me, but talk about selling high.

    Big whoop. He's not on the Bears anymore. He wasn't an MVP, or a Super Bowl winner, or some future HoF candidate...what obligation do they have to treat him with kid gloves? They didn't mistreat him...they just asked him to leave, and walked him out. What's the big deal? This is not worth the amount of discussion it's received. What is your damn problem? I gave my opinion, and I've moved on. No need to get your panties in a bunch.

    Kind of, yeah. I think you are basically wishing it didn't have to go down like that. So do I. But the reason it had to happen is more because Alex showed up where he shouldn't have, rather than because the Bears acted poorly. Yes, I wish it didn't go down like that. I get it had to happen, but this is a man who has played his entire career with Bears, you're telling me there is nobody at Halas Hall (other then security) that could have taken a couple of minutes to meet with Brown and tell him he can't be there?

    True on all aspects, but this isn't just a disgrunted former Bear, this was Alex Brown who was generally liked, and he gave everything he had for the org. Yes he should had been escorted out of the building, but not by security. As for Angelo and Smith aren't available, I don't know about that. Alex Brown back at Halas Hall would be a "great disturbance in the Force" and if Angelo or Smith were there they would have known that. If there weren't then somebody from their staff should have been there. I don't mind Brown being escorted out of the building, but security? Really?

    Definitely would understand the NFL forbidding it. Not just the NFL, but any sport. It goes hand in hand with the idea of tampering. I don't understand how this is a story, or how the tribune picked it up as a breaking news story and sort of agree he was being mistreated. He's got no reason to be there. I understand after 8 years with the org he still has friends, but if Alex wanted to hang out with some of his buddies do it at a club, bowling alley, etc,etc, not at another team's Home Office. I believe Alex should not have been escorted out of the building by security like a common thug, I think somebody like Angelo or Smith should have meet with him and let him know he isn't allow there (Bears HQ) anymore as he isn't a member of the org.

    About the NBA Draft replay, I was watching the 1986 review, and the one thing that surprise me was that Dallas supposed had an offer from the Lakers that included James Worthy and perhaps even Byron Scott would head to Dallas for a package that center around Roy Tarpley.
