  1. Taking Care of Business has a happy ending.
  2. This seems like less than what the brewers gave up for sabathia as well. The sox also get to keep peavy.
  3. at this point, i wouldn't worry about driving his pitch count up as much as looking for good pitches to hit. even if you take a strike for the sake of taking a strike, it isn't as if we can get the pitch count up high enough that tlr will go to the pen for that reason.
  4. To the best of my knowledge, he'll be suspended in the next Cubs game - whenever that is. If they play today, it'll be this game. If they don't play until tomorrow, he'll be suspended for that one. But if they start the game, and it doesnt make it past the 5th, then is he out for the next game or when they re play this one? I would have to think that it would be this one and the conclusion at a later date.
  5. both teams have monday off. not that they definitely would put it there, but the chances are good. i'm going to be at that saturday game and was hoping to see bradley. also would be nicer to have him against oswalt than moehler.
  6. I don't think so. I think if the gates open and the game is just delayed for a few hours there's nothing the neighborhood can do about it. I could be way off, here, but I really doubt they'd have to call the game because of a neighborhood policy. Or else extra inning games on friday would be a problem, too. I agree with the extra innings because that is unavoidable. I think that the way that the arrangement is set up, they could likely have some pull if the game was delayed until 5 or something like that.
  7. What is the rule on rain delays moving games into the evening on a Friday? Is the lockout still in place? re: the Wrigley neighbourhood.
  8. midgets galore leads to some crazy jumping plays. thank god, though.
  9. Lou with emotion that looked like he cared for once, not just his usual sour grapes show after his moves don't work and it is everyone else's fault.
  10. The lineup tonight might be the best one we can field.
  11. I know this is probably a bit of a stretch, but I just was thinking that maybe they sent Shark down not as much for him to improve, but what if there is a fear of Z's injury being more than just a couple of starts and they want to stretch Samardzjia back out for if he has to come up and start.
  12. I'd think so. I made a low ball offer to a guy for Manny seeing as I have too many OF right now anyway.
  13. I think that the Brewers had Gwynn up for Cameron last year and sent him down when he came back if memory serves me right. That would be a good idea, though. Penalize the team for not policing their own players.
  14. I wonder if FS Dodgers (or whatever they call it) will still give their inning by inning updates of where Manny is and what he is doing while he is on this suspension. They tell you well in advance during the game when he is due up, maybe they will let us know how many months until he is back.
  15. When Bud realized that his pockets were not lined with high enough karat gold. They also charge for the gameday for iphone now.
  16. And all of this makes what Vin Scully did for years that much more impressive.
  17. He is bad. It surprises me that WGN couldn't find some young pup to come in and do that job, like Provus or Masur. They wouldn't have to pay them squat. The chance alone at all that exposure would attract some of the best young talent, I would think. He is the nephew of one of the WGN radio talk show hosts. I assume that's how he got the gig. Provus and Masur were both really good, esp Masur. Kind of miss him. This might be a really dumb question, but why does Pat take those breaks? I understood it with the young guys on some level, but with a slug that is going nowhere, why do they continue to do this? It's a mystery. Ron has brought it up via faxed questions, but Pat is actually kind of confrontational when it comes up, saying things like 'it's none of your buisness.' I imagine he's on a rigid bathroom break schedule or something. Ok, I was thinking that it was something like that. I watch more on tv than i listen on the radio and i always wondered about that.

  19. What might be better is the employee behind him who is trying to casually scratch his ass.
  20. Yeah, I was looking at his career minor league numbers and I don't get why he hasn't even had a cup of coffee at some point. The guy hits 275-300 and has some pop in his bat. Looks almost like Theriot minor league numbers with a bit more power and a little less speed, but he just never got a chance. He might actually be able to do something.
  21. Depending on when Aramis comes back, it could have worked out perfectly to do DL him so that you could pull up a pitcher to make one start for Z if that is all that it takes. Or even to just move him back a couple of days. Of course, Piniella wisely used Ramirez to pinch hit making his retroactive date one that causes that scenario to be thrown out the window.
  22. I almost fell off the couch when the weasel drove in a run there.
  23. They both were at fault. Lee did his best Chuck Knoblauch impression while Theriot's Brant Brown impersonation was bang on.
  24. I want Z to play first on the days he isn't pitching. I'm not at all joking. Hey, anything would be an improvement over what is standing over there right now.
