  1. Wasn't Lou ejected for just about nothing by this clown last time, too?
  2. He was tossed quickly because Rob Drake is a grade-A punkass who doesn't deserve his job. Ok, that's what I thought, but I wanted to make sure. That was a total joke.
  3. The correct call was made, but I don't know why Sinatro was tossed so quickly. I am watching without volume and I know that he slammed his helmet, but this happens quite frequently with baserunners going down the line and being thrown out and they don't get tossed.
  4. I personally thought that his stuff looked more devastating in the first inning overall, but nothing to complain about there. Very nice inning. His ERA is now lower than Howry's.
  5. They also rightly set the bar very low for a guy's Major League debut, especially one with Samardzija's background. Carlos Zambrano gives up some runs in some innings this year. Does that mean he's pitching horribly too? From what I understand, it is only horrible if his stuff looks good and you have no vision of potential.`
  6. Ok, Samardzija's stuff was filthy. He was clearly nervous and next time out that should be alleviated a little bit since he has gone through it once. That moving heater in the high 90's is just about impossible to hit and the only one that much was done with was a bit of a flukey hit off the end of the bat. The double was a bit of a mistake pitch, but all in all, I personally thought that Samardzija looked pretty good. If that little seeing eye single doesn't go through the middle, then everyone would be praising him. Even if he had totally stunk up the joint, we can't say that one earned run in his first major league appearance is the end of the world anyway. Anyway, my opinion, he looked better than expected and let's get some runs.
  7. See? This is what I'm talking about. Harden pitches lights out in his debut, but the national media can't help themselves but to paint it with storm clouds looming overhead. Suck it losers. And what is even more ridiculous is how Sabathia's start was considered to be so amazing when he really was mediocre at best. Harden hung zeros and he won't get the same type of recognition just because ESPN has a picture of the Cubs pre-painted. You have to be joking. We have been praised all year by ESPN. Face it, we have been media darlings this year. Praised might not be the right word. I agree that the Cubs have been hyped up, but there is always that little backhanded compliment on everything that ESPN says about the Cubs. This you cannot deny.

  9. They just need a single run here to get it back to 3. I feel confident down 3.
  10. "It will be Harden for Milwaukee to Catch Us Now!" "Milwaukee Got a CC, but I give Harden an A" or something to that effect
  11. I am not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but from looking at the schedule, if the Cubs can go Z, Dempster, Harden, Lilly as the first 4 after the break in any order, they would line up to be the 4 guys to pitch in the 4 game set in Milwaukee at the end of the month!
  12. The Blackhawks aren't offensive. The name is a beautiful tribute to the proud Native American tradition of playing ice hockey The blackhawks are named after one army batallion, i believe.
  13. Tonight Joe Buck was on Letterman and I realized, after seeing the old picture of him, that he should have a meal, if for no reason other than his scrawniness, it'd make his ears look less Dumbo-like.
  14. Aside from 05, Aramis has been the best all around hitter on the team pretty much since we got him. He can hit for power and average better than anyone else on the team. He also has had to do it in some years with little protection while Lee has always had Ramirez behind him.
  15. he kinda is... i'm happy with the team's performance, but if he's up, we might as well have patterson play cf, hauf in lf, soto dh, blacno catch
  16. That was the Edmonds of old. The one that I loathed as a Cardinal. I still loathe him now, but he won't even perform, so it'll be even worse. This hatred will be a cross between Edmonds and Macias.
  17. Not sure that they'd do this, but if there is a long delay after 2 or 3 innings and then they can see that it will be clear from there on out, they may be able to slot in Z for the rest of the game. At that point, pitchers could have as much time as they need to get ready. I doubt they'd do something like that, but if they'd be sure that after break number 1 that the rain wasn't coming back and you'd have Zambrano for 6 or 7 to finish a game, that'd be the way I think that I'd want to go.
  18. Wilkerson is 31, Mench is 30. yet their best years are behind them. pity. As starters, yes.....both can and should carve out niches as 4th OF/pinch hitting specialists in time. To go along with Matt Stairs they are doing quite well in that 4th OF market.
  19. Yes, but Cedeno is better at 2B than Theriot as well. Fontenot is better than Theriot? Ok, just kidding.
  20. NO THERIOT HAS BEEN VERY GOOD SO FAR IF HE STINKS IN THE FUTURE LOU CAN BENCH HIM IF HE DOESNT HE WILL BE THE ONE SCREWING THE TEAM i think i'll have to type in caps when expressing this simple point as plain text just isn't translating somehow. the cast of characters on here has shown all the nuance of a brick wall. LOU WON'T BENCH HIM! I WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM PLAY VERY WELL, BUT REALIZE THAT IS AN UNLIKELY SCENARIO.
  21. ok, now we're getting somewhere. this is good. the fear is that Piniella is going to make the terrible decision of playing a sub-.650 ops SS everyday when there is another clearly superior option. and that surely would be a terrible decision. but what nobody realizes apparently, is that you're all really early with the criticisms as the kid is at .870 or whatever now and has been an asset for us this season. you're jumping the gun with the bashing, and it's directed at the wrong party. i've been thrilled that both ronny and theriot have been producing, but i realize that puts me in the minority. i guess i'm the twisted type of fan that enjoys it when players are performing well. you are making quite the assumption. you actually believe that a player like theriot will have his OPS jump by 200 points from one season to the next? that is a jump that Barry Bonds barely managed to make from his non-phd to phd using seasons. that is absurd.
  22. I was thinking the same thing. Theres a good chance Johnson is out on a throw by Sori for that first runner. With the way that the second one was hit, Pena should have been out on a good throw that makes it to the plate.
  23. No ramirez did that. Would they have IBB'd Fukudome with runners on 1st and 2nd? Was it a guarantee that he'd have driven them in?
  24. I'm getting sick and tired of this MLB.TV - Stay Tuned for More Live Baseball on MLB.TV... screen
