  1. What about Tampa. It is a dome, which should guarantee safety from a rain out. It is close to Miami, where Houston plays after they play us. The Cubs playing in Florida should draw decently (as they would anywhere).
  2. I'm surprised that they haven't thought about scheduling a double header on Friday and if they can play on Saturday bonus, otherwise make that final game of the series a game that will be played at season end if required. I doubt that it will be. I guess that the worry is that it wouldn't be necessary for one team, but would be for the other.
  3. Momentum in baseball is all about the pitcher on a given day. if the Cubs get no hit tomorrow it won't matter what Lilly did today. But when there is a bad taste left in the mouth of the team at the end of each game, the positives aren't there and it causes tightness in the locker room. At this point in the season, the way that things are going, we need to be piling up the positives to try to get all the way out of the funk that we're in.
  4. Wood will be ok, but tonight was not the night to get him his work. I said it earlier and I'm pissed off now. I don't know how anyone could have been surprised. With how Lilly pitched all night and with the starters coming up, there was no reason to use Wood. It ended up being ok, but this performance by Wood just erased a portion of the momentum that this game could have given us. If Lou wants to "kick some ass" then you use Lilly....what a moron.
  5. I can't say that I'm surprised. Lou Piniella is a fool.
  6. Over/Under on Wood's runs allowed? I think he'll give up 2.
  7. I'm not quite certain. You pull your guy who is dealin' off the mound when he's got more pitches he could pitch? Plus, it is still close. Go with the more sure thing in Lilly especially when we need this win and Wood couldn't do it last time out.
  8. I hope that Lou was just letting him get his work in out in the bullpen.
  9. Me too, I think that those kinds of performances can inspire the team. Right now, we need those types of performances that can be used for motivation.
  10. IMO, Wood needs to get back out there. He can't go 4 or 5 days between appearances. But with Z and Harden going here soon, we need to give guys like Woody rest because they will be needed big time if we don't want to kill either of them.
  11. Haha. I'm watching that game on MLB.tv and it's a good one. Although it has about 1/8 of my attention. Same here, that was the first time that I looked up at it in a while. Although I am reversed, have that on TV and Cubs on MLB.TV
  12. Someone at the Red Sox game is holding a sign that says "We are here to see who will play our Cubs in a month"
  13. I can think of about 5-6. Pujols is easily the best player the Cubs face, but he doesn't hit the Cubs as well as other players seem to. And what he does to the Cubs is similar to what he does to other teams while there are some other guys who hit the Cubs harder than they typically hit on average.
  14. So, what does Brenly have wrong with Soriano's throw?
  15. Derosa's AB almost looked like we are beginning to lay back now. We must put them away.
  16. All that Brenly does is call out Soriano whether it is required or not, but not his beloved Theriot...
  17. Tonight might be the night to run on Molina if there ever was one. It looks like his push off leg for throwing might be hurt and could affect him. He is hobbling on it a little from the looks of things.
  18. You've heard it here first, Pie gets it done.
  19. Nice to see Kosuke get a hit. He just needs a few of those seeing eye singles to get his confidence back.
  20. I have a feeling that might be enough on a night like tonight.
  21. Imagine what Sabathia's numbers would look like if he would play against the better teams in the league rather than constantly playing the bottom feeders. He always puts himself in situations that against these teams he is able to escape, but against more formidable foes, he would be unable to do so.
  22. Yes. I do. I feel the same way. I want us to earn it.
