  1. What are you talking about? He's a .500 pitcher. He had an outstanding year last year, now he's making up for it with terrible play. you're right, looking at win-loss is THE BEST way to judge where a pitcher ranks on a range from best-average-worst scale. you got it solved.
  2. *raises hand* i personally didn't. howard was way overmatched in the last 2 ab's
  3. it'd be nice if we could start soriano with an 0-1 count everytime. whenever he happens to get ahead, he has to start swinging.
  4. Not winning is never ever a positive. i'm just pulling for straws watching meyers mow them down.
  5. i don't think that it's over yet, but i would almost think that if the cubs win today, rollins would push to come back sooner than if they lose. so, if they don't come back, that could be a positive,
  6. heh, i never thought about that. that's funny. Would it still be a sac fly if an outfielder dropped a fly ball, but the runner from 3rd still scored? Seems like it would. No, that would be reaching on an error, no RBI, I assume. Geovany Soto. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sacrifice_fly it explains that situation in here. In the case of a fly ball dropped for an error, the sacrifice fly is only credited if the official scorer believes the run would have scored had the ball been caught.
  7. or join Jerome Williams in, where was it, Long Island?
  8. Paulino has gotta be steamed with all that has happened with theriot.
  9. Nah, that one was legit. i think that he barely made it upon seeing the replay, but it was almost close enough that he could have made a make up call there.
  10. Very funny show. It's like Seinfield, except it's actually funny. Worst show in the history of television. i would say it is similar to scrubs, but not as good
  11. lieber looked sharp that inning, hopefully that means that marmol will be pitching the lower portion of this frame.
  12. well, theriot looked like a cartoon character on his start. spinning his wheels.
  13. Theriot supporters will now say how he was so patient in an ab in which little even came close to the zone.
  14. now, if only all of the players wore either no. 1 or 25 (aka S's on their chests), we'd be in business.
  15. theriot will probably come in in the double switch. that's one out in the 10th, if we get there.
  16. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/bb/5673790.html "Cooper said Darin Erstad will start one game of this weekend's series in Chicago in either left field or right field, meaning Carlos Lee or Hunter Pence will be given a day off." Taking either one of these guys out of the lineup for one game should be nice. Both play well against the Cubs. Pence's sample size isn't that big, but regardless of who Cecil takes out, it isn't a bad thing.
  17. Check out this Dusty quote from after Cueto's performance. "I told him: 'Calma, confidencia,' " Baker said. "Calm, confidence." He thinks that we are as dumb as him, I guess. I am no Spanish expert, but I was even able to figure out what this numbskull was saying without his fantastic translation. More great Dusty-isms to come! http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080404/SPT04/804040389/1062/SPT
  18. A problem that Rios has is that he seems to refuse to use the whole field. I know that I have seen a few charts that clearly show this. All 24 of his home runs last season were pulled. Someone posted a website that showed where players were hitting there home runs to a couple of months ago. I can't remember the site, but I know that nothing went right of center. Of his 24, he hit 18 in the first half and only 6 in the second. There was also a chart showing where he was being pitched. In the first half, he saw a fair number of pitches inside and of course, teams figured him out and started going away. I saw him in Cleveland last year and during batting practice, he hit bomb after bomb, but not once did he try to do anything but smash the ball down the lf line. He seems to be able to continue to hit for avg. even though teams have figured out his swing tendencies. If this guy could start using the whole field he could become a perennial mvp candidate. http://bjays.wordpress.com/2007/10/06/did-pitchers-adapt-to-alex-rios/
  19. that might not be good enough. anything more than 0 runs is likely to result in a loss with this offense.
  20. pie tin? piece? There are probably 43 different responses to my question, but I am only looking for one in particular. pie-thetic?
