  1. YUP What if the broken leg is what gave him access to the drug he used? http://i.imgur.com/Pmxoooa.gif
  2. Jeter had the right idea. Thought this was funny... Also, I don't hate Almora at all.
  3. Yes. http://www.endthebacklog.org/information-survivors-dna-and-rape-kit-evidence/what-rape-kit-and-rape-kit-exam At least I would assume that's one of the things that they would do with saliva, blood, semen, urine, skin cells and hair samples.
  4. So Wade Davis, reliever extraordinaire... out with a right forearm strain
  5. Well if that's true then now I'm glad Coghlan broke his leg
  6. Supposedly the Yankees are officially listening to offers for Chapman, Miller, and others in preparation for a possible sell off before the deadline.
  7. He has become the donging leviathan we all expected him to be.
  8. Frank Thomas played 969 @ 1B He was principally the first basement from 1990-1997 before he became a full time DH, so let's just count those year's fWAR. From 1990-1997 Frank Thomas accrued 48.7 fWAR Paul Konerko, arguably the only other contender for this prestigious honor, accrued 23.2 fWAR over his entire career of 18 years in a White Sox uniform. Even if we go 1990-1994, which includes the strike shortened season, Thomas put up 30 fWAR. And that was 100% offensive based, even playing 1B. His defensive metrics on FanGraphs are atrocious. During that 8 year time frame of 1990-1997, FG's combined defensive rating on Thomas was -132.0. Despite this colossal failure of a number, his bat was so good he put up four 7 WAR seasons from 1990-1997 and six total 6.0+ WAR seasons. During that stretch only two players in major league baseball were more valuable than Frank Thomas : Ken Griffey, Jr. and Barry Bonds, and only Bonds was rated a better hitter than Thomas was during that time. Frank Thomas was horsefeathering awesome and is, and always will be, the White Sox best first baseman and it's laughable they are so desperate for content they needed to put it to a vote.
  9. We should add Dexter Fowler before the deadline. What would it take to get him?
  10. Zack Hample, the baseball douche, got lambasted on Twitter for attending the Fort Bragg game, which was supposed to only be for military personnel, soldiers, and their families, and closed off to the public. He claimed he had a friend in active duty who had tickets who took him instead of his girlfriend who didn't want to go, but he offered anyone with a ticket a couple weeks prior to that $1,000 for a ticket. People were... not happy. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/baseball-collector-ripped-on-twitter-for-showing-up-to-fort-bragg-game-070316
  11. Despite how awful we feel they've been, they're only 3 games under .500 over their last 17 games, and 16-15 since the start of June. For as bad as they've been it could be a whole hell of a lot worse. While the Cubs have basically been playing .500 ball over the last month, our two biggest division rivals have been treading water trying to reach or stay just above .500 all season long.
  12. This is all part of a Cubs long con where they purposefully lose to Syndergaard and Matz and make them look like those bone spurs aren't an issue, only to let Mets brass believe they made the right decision, and they continue to ride them in the near future until they realize "Oops, they really are broken and we lost them for the next calendar year". Very clever move, Joe. I like it.
  13. Trout has a 4.9 fWAR. Will probably be well over 5 fWAR before the ASB and on pace for his best season yet, and he may potentially be pushing an 11-win season. I like how what he's doing has become so commonplace to everyone that no one really is drawing much attention to it. He's not in the headlines, he's not being featured everywhere in the media for having one of the more historic offensive seasons, he's just Mike Trout and this is what we expect from him so let's not talk about that and talk about something else a little more dramatic because everyone knows this is going to happen.
  14. This post is beginning to look prescient FFS It's a 7-2 game where the Cubs are donging the living daylights out of the ball, and they're facing the worst bullpen in baseball. THE WORST BULLPEN IN BASEBALL THEY COULDN'T SCORE A RUN OFF OF FOR SEVERAL INNINGS LAST NIGHT GAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH *hangs self*
  15. The Yankees could definitely use Soler, and he'd be a great starting point if they demand more talent. The Yankees desperately need to replenish their farm system and they *should* be happy receiving guys like Torres or Happ or Cease or whoever else we have in the minors in addition to someone like Soler, but their stupid ass Yankee pride of always needing to contend is going to make them demand the likes of Schwarber or Baez or other MLB ready talent so they can plug them in ASAP and get immediate value and try and contend. Andrew Miller is a remarkable reliever, but that's all he is: a reliever. A reliever who costs more for one season than Schwarber will likely cost in the next 4 or 5 combined. I'd love to have him on the team, but I'm not giving up any MLB talent except for Soler, and even then that's about all I'd want to give up in a deal for a reliever as good as Miller, but that's just me.
  16. Beltran just left the game with an apparent leg injury. He's got a .902 OPS. It's the only OPS on the team, starters and subs included, above .735. If he needs to miss significant time that could be the death knell that sends them into sell mode.
  17. MLB Tonight takes a crack at solving the reason for Jake Arrieta's struggles... http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/7417714/v864912183/mlb-tonight-discusses-jake-arrieta-cubs/?query=jake%2Barrieta
  18. He's been taking night classes on his off days for the last several seasons and finishing up a robotics engineering degree at Cal Tech because he's just that good. OR... His elbow might have exploded and they're making sure it didn't
  19. I love how other teams fans just assume since Schwarber tore his ACL his trade value is effectively that of a low risk high reward prospect. Those people can pound sand.
  20. Loads fine for me. Perhaps you have a conflicting Chrome extension?
