  2. The Indians want Miller? I hope they're prepared to part with Lindor for such an important player.
  3. The only Yankee player I'd consider moving Schwarber for is a Luis Severino that didn't turn into a pumpkin this year, but he did so there's no one in that entire system worthy of a package, as has been stated. If we can swing Miller or Chapman (Miller, please) for a deal around Vogelbach, though, that'd be wonderfulrifical.
  4. Well damn, I forgot all about the wild card change. Well, this year was fun. Time to make the last two hail mary's: Drop Yan Gomes Add Marcus Semian Drop Carlos Correa Add Robinson Cano
  5. Just realized the Cubs have a chance to do something they've never done before this season (to my knowledge): Have two hitters with 40 or more home runs in a single season.
  6. *removes arm* And that's why you never wait for the trade deadline (but not really)
  7. In an effort to get Yan Gomes out of his season long slump, the Indians held a sacrificial ritual where they sacrificed an already cooked chicken in the name of Jobu to exorcise his demons. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/17090496/cleveland-indians-sacrificial-ceremony-struggling-yan-gomes
  8. Wish I was around to post this before the game started when it was more apropos, but whatever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DnVrSZHnvYY
  9. Which probably means they're on the prowl for a SP of significance They're a great match for Sonny Gray, I think, with the Red Sox landing Pomeranz. Gurriel is listed as a 3B/2B. Bregman is a SS/3B. They currently have Valbuena and Rasmus holding it down at 3B and LF. I suspect they'll be able to find room for both fairly easily when the time is ready. Also, Is Gurriel really that good? He's 32 already, that seems like an awfully big gamble for such an old player with no exposure to the major leagues.
  10. And also after the day that Colbert filmed his bit with Bryant, Rizzo, and Arrieta.
  11. He did give up a pretty hard hit ball that Almora made a good read on... I said... a perfect inning. Is nice. Too.
  12. Damn, that would've been pretty cool if he started tinkering with it again, but a perfect inning is nice, too.
  13. So to those who watched did Grimm utilize his slider at all? Just wondering since he liked the tweet to the nsbb article about how he abandoned it and how it has led to less deception prior to the break.
  14. Had a mormon friend in college, big time drinker and stoner. Also came from a small town in Alabama where he had a girlfriend of 5 years until he did some family lineage searching and realize it was his 2nd cousin, which defies logic given the circumstances. [insert State slogan here] Not everyone is gonna follow the faith to a T.
  15. Thanks for sabotaging HFA in favor of the AL, Jose. And by extension, thanks Bud for this stupid horsefeathering "it means something" game.
  16. The smart money says Stanton, but I'm spending dumb money and going with Cano.
  17. Duvall? http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/l/lambja01.shtml About 55% of his hits have been for extra bases. That's crazy
  18. Bryant is leading the National League's clear cut best third baseman, Nolan Arenado, by 1.8 fWAR
  19. It was, but that was also Rizzo's suggestion, IIRC
  20. If Addy is officially Bryant-ing and tapping into his potential for good right now that would be wonderfurifical
  21. Beltran has been nursing a leg injury lately, and also his BB% is the lowest it's been his entire career unless you count the 14 games he played in 1998, and his K% is the highest it's been since 2012, and second highest of his career. Beltran is a fine hitter, but he doesn't bring anything to the table that the Cubs don't already have. Beltran's fWAR, despite his stellar offensive production, is only 1.5 fWAR. Baez has a 1.3 fWAR, for comparison. Beltran is a DH only at this point, and the only reason he's not playing there is because the Yankees have too many old fogey's in their lineup who are worse in the field than Beltran is.
